      I’ve done a separate ladder test on each, as well as a hunt with each. But I do let the idea of picking up some ballistics gel and running a 100 yards test🤔 but in my rifle the ELD-X group better and hit harder. Thanks for the idea and thanks for watching.

    This is true..I'm hunting in a tree lounge in Uwharrie National forest..right now..a few minutes ago a small group of campers and or hikers just put up.a tent or two tents 200 to 300 yards away..this is when a guy must man up and adapt and overcome(marine phrase in the movie Heart break ridge)..obviously I got to put out maximum effort in the future..this will make me stronger and smarter and definitely wiser

      @suburbanhunt3653 this is true but it's unbelievable..I'm setting just about in the same area in Uwharrie National forest north Carolina..2 years ago veterans day..two guys are making alot of noise hammering and talking..they get in front of me about 75 yards and I see there putting up signs on trees..I get down and walk towards them.i ask what are you doing..I looked and there signs say ...behind the sign private property no trespassing..that mourning I was hunting on forest property..right now all of a sudden I'm trespassing on private property with a firearm..a felony..they said that the landowner bought a portion of land from the forest service and when he dies it all goes to forest property..so I moved my stand 100 yards and hunted on forest land which that mourning was private land...the land owner found me the next day and asked me to tell him what happened..he apologized and said that from now on I have total access to any of his land because his guys didn't do this right ..I still only hunt on the forest side but a few weeks later I shot a 8 point 229 pounds..I would have killed him if I hadn't move 100 yards but that is 100% true..that's my biggest ever..I mentioned to these guys putting up signs that I found a pot field close buy...obviously they told the land owner and he obviously decided that he and I need to be friends...

    It's the last week of muzzleloader season here in Texas and I'm using the same Hornady bore driver 290 grain FTX, at about rt yards I had the same problem with not going all the way through stopped past the shoulder on the other side but I will say this went through both shoulders through both lungs and the top of the heart it fell where I hit it.
    I do like pass-throughs if they run away I like pass-throughs

    • @suburbanhunt3653
      @suburbanhunt3653  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Indeed passthrough are always best for tracking an animal. But DRT is DRT!!! Even without the pass through the amount of blood that I had was very easy to track. Thanks for watching and good luck out there.

  • @jeffhays1968

    Nice buck. My testing is showing ELR and Bore Drivers are hitting real close to each other so I can basically use either though I prefer Hornady. Next state down from me gun season opens in a week or so and we get to target bucks again as my in state tags are filled for bucks unless I use a bow. My ten pointer had dinky horns compared to yours!

    • @jeffhays1968
      @jeffhays1968 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Had an ELR pass through on one deer this year with ZERO blood trail. Double lung and the top of the heart was damaged. He only went 30 yards. But ZERO blood the first 20 feet. If you are SURE of your shot your deer is down close by, blood or no blood. Don't EVER assume you missed if you are sure you shot well.

    • @jeffhays1968
      @jeffhays1968 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ground level shots sometimes are a problem as the body needs to fill with blood before it leaks out the hole, and a high lung shot may not leave much at first. Shot from tree stands there is a downward bias and the exit holes are likely lower for a better blood trail. Never assume you missed though!

    • @suburbanhunt3653
      @suburbanhunt3653  ปีที่แล้ว

      As long as you enjoyed the hunt that is all that matters. A good clean ethical shot is all you can ask for. As for the blood trail.. you are 100% correct. That why I prefer to be elevated when I hunt. That and vantage point. Aim point and impact are close to the same on my as well. That allowed me to go straight from the doe to buck with different projectiles and no scope change

    Plan to buy my first muzzleloader a CVA Wolf V2 and use White Hots with the Hornaday FTX you used. Got a real education on the shortage of powder and primers. Only primers I can find are Cheddite. Will they work with the White Hots and Hornaday?

    • @suburbanhunt3653
      @suburbanhunt3653  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Absolutely!!! Cheddite is right up there with the CCI mag primers. I have ever only had one issue with them in the combo and honestly I'm leaning toward powder. It was a squib load. Which means the primer still went off. That one in all of my testing. I would say you're safe. Wish you the best of luck. FTX are great rounds. If you go through a shoulder you may not get a pass through but I still had a heck of a blood trail.

    Good job. Are u shooting 100 gr blackhorn? I am shoot 84 grs by weight. Out of my CVA Optima V2 50 cal LR nitride rifle. Both Hornady 250 gr .And the bore driver 290gr. Both went thru the deer.

    Congratulations! I just bought a pack of the boredrivers and cannot get the second bullet seated using whitehots in a CVA optima v2 .I've never had that problem with anything else I've tried. Any suggestions why that's happening?

    • @Hill_Billy_Without_A_Hill
      @Hill_Billy_Without_A_Hill 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I need to mess with mine again, but my optima was hard to load too, and I too was using white hots, but also tried pyrodex and trip 777 pellets, so not sure the powder is the issue. Mine is a nitride version. I probably bought mine 3 yrs ago to mess around with bh209 powder. Haven't tried that powder yet, though. I plan to play around with different bullets/sabots, but I do feel mine is a bit of a tight bore. One thing I'm trying is the crush rib sabots. They are supposed to load easier, and I did notice that the bullets I put in them, seamed to fit better in the sabot, than ones I was using. I had a t/c triumph already, before I had the optima, and just went back to it the last few yrs. Was planning on the optima be a bit longer range setup. One of my friends also has a optima, and said his bore was hard to load. He said he scrubbed the bore with acetone, and it improved. I may try that too.

    • @suburbanhunt3653
      @suburbanhunt3653  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That's interesting that the WhiteHots would do it but in the Triple 7 or Pyrodex. They all left a pretty good for me to push through. How close to seated were you? Just curious I assume its the ring that's only thing that would make sense to me. Maybe try shooting a round, removing the plug, and try to "seat' another round without pellets and see where you are in relation to the ring. The only other thing would be buildup on the plug, again depending on how close to seated you are. One would like that one shot would cause that much buildup but maybe. I wish I had a 100% answer for you.
