    Wow! 250 ft lbs less energy and 4 inches more bullet drop at 200 yds vs the great plains bullet you just reviewed. Not to mention it's expansion, penetration, and retained weight numbers. I was really rooting for this bullet to shine, but it flopped in my mind. Thanks for these great tests.

    80 grains of blackhorn and ELDX 340 is a tack driver, trust me in this. Great bullet, at least for deer.

    Placement of the garmin effects how well it reads

      @@JamesJustice1957 Agreed. Watch through a bunch of my videos and you’ll see it’s missed shots from about every placement I’ve tried. 😉.

    I’m got some of these and tried them out, not impressed. Sticking with Great Plains.

    I’m not a fan of this bullet. My gun doesn’t shoot it accurately with triple 7 or BH209. It needs a specific jag for the mondo tip and they were very hard to source. They also kick up an extra notch of recoil vs my 290gr loads and it goes from stout to me not wanting to shoot it off the bench for load testing. I’m a copper guy so these weren’t likely to win me over, but I wanted to try them out just for fun.

    Pretty sure your 3 pellet velocity is off. 110gr by volume of triple 7 2F got me 1788fps avg with a 30” barrel accura LRX. I’d bet you were pushing like 1800-1850 fps with the 3 pellet charge. I bet it was picking up the sabot.

      Maybe there’s an update we’re missing, but the range card you mentioned & the video confirms that velocity was 1568fps. If that’s the case that it’s actually over 1900fps then that would explain why another comment says it’s so much slower than the significantly heavier Great Plains bullet. Might need an edit or maybe add the updated velocities to a pinned comment.

      @@soonerfrac4611 I misread, the data above was for the 240gr XTP. thanks for pointing it out. I’ll delete it. 👍🏻

      It’s interesting that the Great Plains bullet had higher velocity from the same charge. I’m gonna say maybe the polymer skirt didn’t expand enough early enough to seal the bore and generate pressure.

    • @kentuckyrangetime
      @kentuckyrangetime  หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@soonerfrac4611 That sounds plausible.
      I was in such a hurry to get these videos out before early muzzle loading season started here in Ky that I’ve not had time to compare velocities across the different loads.

      @Snailz5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@soonerfrac4611 i'd say the chrono was having trouble with the skirt separating, seeing two projectiles and wigging out. there is load data on the bullet and I've personally shot it over a chrono and had expected velocities in line with said data. It is nowhere near that slow with a 150gr charge.

    reloaded many, many calibers over 45years experience and knowledge rifles, shotguns ,sidearms,bows,muzzle loaders. I've done it all except dangerous game except one time went bear hunting and only bears i saw was a momma and cub circling my truck to dark to shoot and we stayed in the truck.lol. simi auto pistols which i own as many as i do revolvers and equally proficient with both for secondary protection against man or beast. even the so called best auto pistols can jam .even with the so called best revolvers canhave a hard prime strike but rare as climbing a tree backwards. if automatic jams clear jsm or with second strike capability hope it does fire. revolvers if encountered hard primer simply pull trigger again. my no.1 chose here in north carolina if im fishing, walking in known areas of bear or wild hogs is my Taurus tracker 44mag with 255gr gas check hardcast 18

    GREAT PLAINS are number 1, these copper-floppers are a joke, most blow up with poor penetration. People with brains shoot GREAT PLAINS!!

    • @kentuckyrangetime
      @kentuckyrangetime  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@ffvg9909 the range chart in the video shows the 3 pellet traveling at 1,214fps at 100yrds. That falls in between my data points so expansion would be hard to gauge. Penetration should be pretty good though.
      That will also depend on the barrel length too.

    Your Garmin is WAY too far from the muzzle to get accurate velocities.
