21:26 she had already recognized him when he was practicing shooting. He made the same movement with the gun he did as Murphy, to impress his son. "Boys need a role model."
Btw you watched the "less gory version". The directors cut adds about 7 seconds of gore back in. Specifically to the boardroom ED209 and Murphys death scenes. They were cut down to get an R rating.
You definitely deserve a break from broken roofs and water damage. Stay dry and get some well-needed rest! This is a great film. The scene with the co-ed gym/showers is light years ahead of it's time, with only Starship Troopers replicating it. The 2014 remake had potential which despite a pretty good cast, was squandered.
Thank you! We've managed to board up the roof for now 🥲. Ah ok another Paul Verhoeven film. The director known for bringing co-ed showers to the masses I guess! Yeah I've heard mixed things about the remake. Maybe I'll give it a watch to see what all the fuss/anti-fuss is about!
You obviously missed Murphy explaining his gun twirl technique at the beginning of the film. Also, there’s a whole section where they introduce his charging station and the fact he needs to eat to sustain his organics. This means his whole torso was salvaged and still operates.
Since we are with taht, the guy playing the Junior Top Manager Bob Morton was Miguel Ferrer better known from CROSSING JORDAN and NAVI CIS L.A. Next to the movie also interesting the ROBOCOP TV Series from 1994l ran just one season but was also fun to watch. It just had a more family friendly comic like story arc Just mention it because it tends to get forgotten in ROBOCOP RETRO´s 35;54 Shure he eats, that is why earlier on the BABY FOOD had been mentioned. But you have a point, the background facts are sparse in the movie
Think we needed a D-Meter for this episode - that word became a living entity unto itself with a single mission. DC comics was even ballsy enough to change Dick Grayson's name temporarily to Ric Grayson after Nightwing was shot by KGBeast during a patrol with the Batman. Fans did not take well to the change of their favorite former-Robin. Robocop is definitive movie of the 80's. My Dinner With Andre (1981) is another classic early 80's gem. I will always see Kurtwood Smith as "Red" Forman from 'That 70's Show' despite him making a truly deplorable villain in this movie. Great reaction!
That's not his real face 😃 the only thing left of him is his brain and bit of digestive system. The face is all robot like the terminator. First the gun twirl and his voice that's how Lewis recognized him.
@@CarryOnTomyes indeed. it's packaged as an action scifi summer movie but at the core is a brilliant drama about a person's soul breaking through despite the odds and scathing satire of that time.
15:24, according to the behind the scenes info the suit was very heavy, almost impractical to wear and made Peter Weller lose weight by solely sweating.
0:40 "Apartment"? I thought you still called it "flat" in the UK. As an Austrian, who learnt (British) English as a second language at school (decades ago), I'm a bit confused now. 🤔 However, I hope your roof is gonna get sealed up soon. 🙂
Haha good catch! I studied in America for a few years. The accent didn't quite stick but I definitely brought home some words with me. Sidewalk, gas and sneakers are the main culprits. They just hit harder than pavement, petrol and trainers! 🇺🇸
They added more backstory in the 2014 remake… it wasn’t as good (for a lot of reasons) pg13 being the main reason. It was kind of modeled after the dark Knight movies. They even gave him black armor and a motorcycle which if you ask me, isn’t as cool 😢
An age rating drop is definitely never a good sign with remakes. Yeah I feel like we're in an age of making films feel gritty and real, but that often doesn't work when part of what makes the original special is the corniness and essence of implausibility. That's what made the experience charming and fun!
45:44 THERMINATOR was by far not the first movie novel desling with such a topic. The closest thing in movies had been COLOSSOS, another movie were a COMPUTER took over the world. Also to go to the basics R.U.R. ROSSUMS UNIVERSAM ROBOTS by Karel Capek. A play from 1920
Much of the vast capitalism of the 80s decade went into military research, & new technologies such as Computing, ( from public taxes)investments by right wing Western Governments, hense the paranoid World we now live in today, & the 2 films reflect that, in their different ways.
I would ONLY recommend watching ROBOCOP 3 if you want a return to the corporate cynicism of this first film, where nazi style Baliffs are evicting people from their homes, to make way for the new gentrified "Delta City" for the Corporate rich to live in.
a classic with an insanely weak remake. one of the first films that showed that there is something rotten in Hollywood..I don't advise you to watch it.
Apologies, it is indeed for TH-cam reasons, but you're right. I'll reverse the image back when there's text on the screen in future (I don't know why I didn't already think of this).

She recognized him by the fancy twirl he did with his gun at the shooting range.
I'm pretty sure that robocop basically looks like the terminator under the flesh. Shooting the mouth really won't do much.
21:26 she had already recognized him when he was practicing shooting. He made the same movement with the gun he did as Murphy, to impress his son. "Boys need a role model."
Of course! I totally missed that 🙃

Had to go and find it to give it a watch. Absolutely brutal!
21:40 I think she saw RoboCop do the pistol flip Murphy had shown her.
You're so right!
Great reaction mate! I liked it so much!! In the Verhoeven´s "trilogy", apart of this one, it´s also "Starship Troopers" and "Total Recall"
Thanks mate! I haven't seen either, so I may have to come back and complete the Verhoeven trilogy 👀
Yeah they're both great. For big budget mainstream films, they are really weird and over the top.

I liked the 2014 remake. 😁
The shower scene was also used in the updated Galactica TV show.
At the end Robocop cop was faking the screaming in order to get Clarence close enough to take him out. Watch his facial expression switch!
Genius!
he would've felt it because there was still parts of his body under the armour
How are there still people who haven’t seen this? 1 of my top 5 of all time! 10/10

Great reaction. Look forward to more.
The guy playing Clarence is the same guy that plays the Dad on That 70's Show. 🙂
“That guy” is Kurtwood Smith!!
@@Mattcruzedc Much Appreciated cause I couldn't remember his name at all. Thanks. 🙂

Thanks Kira! Maybe we'll get the D meter installed for Robocop 2 just in case 😂 . I've heard of My Dinner With Andre! I'll add it to the list 👌
The emergency room scene used real EMT's so that they would look like they know what they are doing.
Yes, please do RoboCop2.
That's not his real face 😃 the only thing left of him is his brain and bit of digestive system. The face is all robot like the terminator. First the gun twirl and his voice that's how Lewis recognized him.
Wow imagine being killed but part of your consciousness being left alive to suffer in a chunky metal suit. Tragic!

@@CarryOnTom more like nightmare fuel, at best his consciousness is shared and more likely slaved to the OS that drives him.
ROBOCOP 2 next, please. 😀

Dead or alive... I'll watch Robocop 2 🤖

You should also look at 1973s WEST WORLD, which both this film, & TERMINATOR took ideas and inspiration from.
Robocop is a satirical look into corporate greed, “reganomics” and capitalism. The gentrification of society and the privatization of public services.
Uk weather has sucked this week Sorry to hear about your roof dude. Great movie pick, So kindly Thank You from West Yorkshire Tom Sir :)
Hello from down south! (Although believe it or not... my whole family is from Hull 👀)

Fun fact this tries to be a sci-fi/American retelling of the story of Jesus with Robocop‘s design A rip off on a few comic book characters.
It's Detroit B!
I want a recount! And no matter how it turns out, I want my old job back! -> That's what Trump said
Watch Howard the Duck it was the first marvel movie ever made.

More of a satire...
