I hope Moonpaw’s personality is a cocky,charismatic one. Because her face resembles a half moon,she’s hyped up by pretty much everyone in the nursery and her peers. Everyone believes she’s destined to be a medicine cat. And she’s fully on board with that,anything to look awsome!
I want to see her end up a medicine cat apprentice and then,as time goes by she starts showing how much she SUCKS at the job.Because of the confidence boost in her youth,she believes she can get anywhere with her « importance » and we see that she’s acctually not putting much effort in training. But everyone’s expectations lay on her mind and because she’s also a tad pretentious,she keep training to be a medicine cat for the sake of status and power that comes with the job.
Her arc could focus around her learning that the path you take has to be one you’re PASSIONATE about. Or else,you won’t go far. She can also learn that no matter how special everyone says you are,no matter how much support everyone gives you,you still have to put in work on your own to get where you want to.
THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT I WANT. I want her to be self righteous and Prideful and spoiled. But then realizing just because she might be special, doesn't mean she can get away with anything

That would actually make for a really interesting protagonist! Which is exactly why it won't happen lmao. Pretty sure we'll never get a protagonist with any kind of attitude or flaws. Jay truly one of a kind.
Can't speak for Night I've only loosely followed this arc at best but he seemed to have gotten over it almost immediately after finding a love interest

I was thinking she was either going to be white or cream colored considering the moon from on the ground looks white. It'd be neat if she was also a russet color considering the blood moon.
Same, I was relived when her design was revealed. FINALLY, A NON GRAY CAT.
And I think it also might have happen because the other cat who has Moon as their name is Moonflower, a gray tabby She-Cat. Also the fact that when people think of moon they think of a gray sphere or a white glowing sphere.
I actually didn't think she would be grey. but that was based on the assumption she'd be a night x sun kit; I thought she'd be black.
I feel like the people complaining about moonpaw’s parents, while they are correct, have completely forgotten about all the other protagonists that have this problem. I know we like Bristlefrost and we like Ivypool and Fernsong but they have the same problem. The warriors writers wrote themselves into a corner by not making an easilly navigated family tree and refusing to use their own wiki

What Juniperclaw did was for his clans best interest, (even though it was a bit dramatic) and even saved Shadowsight, but got thrown in the DF anyways. Starclan confuses me sometimes

Cats can have up to 8 kittens per litter, realistically it’s more likely for her to still have at least 1-2 siblings even if they don’t make it

Idk if the Erins would actually do this, but i personally think the "voice" in her head is actually just Moonpaw's intrusive thoughts. But since they tell her to do bad things she doesn't want to believe it's actually her thinking those things, which makes her think it's another cat telling her these things.
I actually love that, her navigating her own thoughts and even causing herself issues because she thinks it isn't her.

Yeah, the warriors team would never write anything that complex. It's a great idea but it's going to be something really simple like evil spirit cat. Unfortunatly....also why is every single cat having voices in their heads recently? Did they forget they wrote entire series with the characters barely interacting with spirits? Like in the first series it wasn't even fully clear Starclan was real until they definitively gave Firestar nine lives. I'm not saying they have to go back to that just that they can do a story without it being revolved around evil spirits. Like Darktail's plot was like that aswell. They gotta choose a new plot device

I think she probably would be a chimera because of her unique eyes - like you said, heterochromia is almost always a blue eye and a different color. If it was two sets of genes, the green and yellow eyes make more sense

It would be SO COOL if Moonpaw ended up being ThunderClan's first mediator! I've been really excited to see if any other Clans take on the 'new' tradition, and making a new character would give them new opportunities!
It would be interesting if Moonpaw began training as a warrior apprentice, but then became a medicine cat apprentice due to not 'fitting in'. And then becoming a mediator, being 'long distance' trained by Tree due to being horrible at medicine.

Warrior cat fan with Heterochromia here! I have brown and blue eyes, and it’s really awesome to feel represented like this in a book like warrior cats! I’m happy to see that people are responding positively to the design instead of boiling it down to cringe culture, as it used to happen a lot around a decade ago on the internet. Great video!

They're not only first cousins. Look at her grandparents: Ivypool x Fernsong and Sorrelstripe x Dewnose. Ivypool is Dewnose's niece as well.
I really want Moonpaw being the new Jayfeather. The article mentioned that she values others opinions, and I might be stretching, but if she was just a bit sassy with everyone and everything(especially the voice in her head) she would easily be the most entertaining character since Jayfeather, at least for me.

Thank you for explaining what a chimera is. I've been struggling with some people I chat with regularly about Warriors trying to explain the split face isn't what makes a cat a chimera nor is it a sign of one. I gave examples and... then one said they made Mapleshade a chimera since she's a black cat on one side and a ginger and white cat on the other... I never wanted to shake someone through my screen so badly.
Also, while yes it'd be cool if Nightheart and Sunbeam were the parents, I do like her parents are not previous protags (even if still closely related, being sister to Bristlefrost and stepbrother/BFF to Nightheart). I wish she were the kit of Shellfur and Fernstripe, making her the first "halfclan" kit to be born under the new code allowing for the switching of clans AND has the benefit that ThriftBay has where they're unrelated to previous protags (most I got for them is son of friend(?) of Ivypool/Dark Forest trainee and Crowfeather's apprentice). Plus the benefit of them being completely unrelated and keeping ThriftBay from needing to happen so we can return to shipping PlumThrift and headcanoning Gayshine.

@@cornfederatee A regular looking tortoiseshell cat can be a chimera. It’s hard to tell if a cat is a chimera just by looking at it sometimes. If both zygotes were going to be short furred black cats, then a normal looking black cat could be a chimera and no one would know. Mapleshade (and any other cat for that matter) could easily be a chimera but the point of the comment was that the people I was explaining it to refused to see the word chimera and not associate it with a fur pattern.
I’m mostly confused by you now and your understanding of chimeras if you think it’s impossible for Mapleshade to be one since she’s tortoiseshell.
Quick edit to clarify more, there are a lot of headcanons people have and this person, like most artistic warriors fans, has a few designs. I was complaining about them saying “chimera design go brrrr” over them making a cat labeled as chimera be just a cat split down the middle by two different designs, not the fact Mapleshade was made a chimera. Also the fact they said this while I was trying to explain the fact chimeras aren’t a fur pattern (someone said “that’s not what Google Images says” for crying out loud it felt like talking to a wall!)

If I had a nickel for every character in a children’s fantasy novel named moon____ who starts hearing weird voices in their head and having visions, I’d have two nickels. Which isn’t a lot but it’s wierd that it happened twice.
There are a lot of spiritual things they can do with Moonpaw. But I absolutely ADORE her design! So much so, I made an OC that’s her descendent. A ginger-and-black tom with a half ginger, half black face. His name is Halfwing. He was named for his half-and-half face and his ability to make really big jumps, described “as if he had wings.” He isn’t a POV MC but he is a good friend of the ThunderClan POV MC. He becomes mates with a feisty she-cat named Gooseberry.

Making her a chimera while keeping her as a calico would have been easy: just make the ginger or the black (not both) dilute!

Moonpaw is a really pretty cat, but it's a shame the erins characterize her being a chimera cat solely for her perfectly split face.
I was hoping moonpaw would be sunbeam and nighthearts kit not more background charaters kits i actually had to look up her parents bc i didnt remember who her parents were 😅

Bayshine is fairly relevant in the most recent arc being a best friend of Nightheart.
Sunbeam was a background character prior to this arc… I think it’s good that other families get to be explored.
Also Sunbeam literally told Nightheart she didn’t want kits yet, when they spoke about it, so having moonpaw be her kit would require a large time gap to make any sense… and with how much is going on right now, that would gloss over some interesting stuff.

Dovewing's eyes being heterochromia is just a fun headcanon, they are confirmed green in the series (it does retcon most of OOTS tho).

Also the naming would have worked so well with Sunbeam and Nightheart, if they do not give me a solid reason for this, like Sunbeam no longer wants kit, I will be screaming internally.

Sunbeam told Nightheart “yes, but not yet” when they asked about future kits in the current series because she wanted to know him better before making that commitment.
Sunbeam isn’t ready to have kittens, it wouldn’t have made sense for Moonpaw to be her kit.

the eye colors actually are a very good sign she's a chimera cat! while it does bother me they mistook a common tortoiseshell pattern for chimerism; it's a mistake a LOT of people make. so I can't blame them too much when they never cared about genetics in the first place. and whether they knew it or not, the eye colors they chose is a perfect example of a chimera cat! there are very few other reasons a cat would be born with heterochromia and not have one eye be blue.

I like to think her orange is actually diluted, since that is actually an outward apphearence a normal cat wouldn't have as well, form of the colour cats like Russetfur, Rowanclaw and Squirelstar have, those colours are already generally unfounded in nature and if we are making up genetics already why not. My basis for this is that most dark red looking cats in nature are just black cats and that there is no normal case for a cat to have dilution and normal colur otherwise, like a gray and black cat would probably be a chimera. Or we could say she has two types of black fur but one caries the trait for it to look more brownish/reddish in some lighting but if we follow that lighter orange they showed off I like my first suggestion more.

Moonpaw would not be the very first cats to have heterochromia.
Though it’s never mentioned in the books, if you go onto the warriors wiki and search up Reedclaw (she’s a SkyClan warrior) she appears to have one blue and one yellow eye.
If eye color is not specified in the books, then it is up to the designer's interpretation/artistic choice. the wiki is not officially run by the warrior cats writing team or anything like that. so it's just something a fan decided to do since the eye color in the books is never stated.
I'm exited to see her future fanart, I highly believe she'll get that later in the future

The thing is, split face can both be a trait of chimerism and not- the authors picked the worst cat to try and convey this idea with, because she's a female tortie. A grey and black patched cat could have been more easily identified as one- or a male tortie. Or she could still be a tortie, but have some solid black, and some brown tabby- which maybe she is but they don't describe that. I think my bigger issue is that the clan cats definitely don't have a concept of what a chimera even is.
But yeah regardless, you /can/ have a form of microchimerism, where only a small part of the body has different cells, which would form a single patch of different colors. That can also cause the face thing, but again, you'd not readily be able to tell with a tortie.

Ok,what I think will happen:
1:voice is bristlefrost, and bristlefrost comes back to life becuase moonpaw free's her, but other cats who also died in the dark forest came back, then the clans immediately k!ll ashfur and the other bad cats
2.Rootspring changes to thunderclan for Bristlefrost
3.Storyteam relize who moonpaw's parents are and try to change them
4.they go to the new territory and Tawnypelt finds the clans their new home
5. All clans merge together, maybe called Moonclan? (After moonpaw, who might be the 1st lead)
6.Leafstar retires
7.Tawnypelt becomes deputy
8.New rules
9.Oh yeah, moonpaw becomes leader becuase clans are named after the first leader
10.(this might happen after) Bristlefrost becomes leader!(I just like her)

I definitely think Moonpaw is a chimera cat (I head cannon that she is actually a black and white that fused with a ginger and golden torbie), and I think the writing team could actually know what chimera is, but they could have used it because it’s the most common interpretation of the word.
Fun fact: The reason the face is so often half and half, is because of bilateral symmetry, which iirc all mammals have.

I'm surprised it took them 70+ books to make a canon heterochromia cat. Maybe it's because Douwing and Brightheart have been drawn like that for a while.
Actually, she could be a chimera, but not for the half and half face. While tortoisehells and calicos are the result of the same genetics, the white that calicos have causes the splotching to merge into larger sections, thus their very different appearances. Moonpaw, however, is shown to have a more tortoiseshell-like pattern, despite her white throat and underbelly. It's possible that she could be a chimera of a tortoiseshell (with no white) and a bicolor/high white cat.
Bayshine and Thriftear are both related. Should have made her Nightheart and Sunbeams daughter. I mean come on, night, sun, moon. Its a little obvious don't you think?

If I had a nickel for every time a children’s book series I like had a protagonist with “moon” in their name who’s struggling to comprehend a mysterious voice in their head I’d have two nickels, which isn’t a lot but it’s weird that it happens twice.

moonpaw's pelt doesn't require her to be chimera
her eyes don't require her to be chimera
but i guess she's a chimera since the writing team said so
also if you screw around enough you can have about 5 generations of firestar's family tree look how they've been said to look (unlikely percentage rolls but still 100% viable!)
there are very few other reasons for her to have a green eye and yellow eye. regular heterochromia always has one blue eye.
but yeah her coat color is possible on cats without chimerism lol
@@warriorcatkitty cat eye colors are a bit confusing but to the best of my understanding green and yellow exist on the same gradient so having both doesn't strictly mean it's a chimera, a spot of random cell mutation but with how inbred thunder clan has gotten that's hardly a surprise

Moonpaw reminds me of early warrior cat oc's with the level of special being thrown on her, in a fun way. She has the "MY OC IS HALF THIS COLOR AND HALF THIS COLOR AND HAS HETEROCHROMIA AND IS NAMED MOON CAUSE SHE HAS A SUPER SPECIAL DESTINY AND EVERYONE LIKES HER-" vibe and I am kind of loving it! She has mary sue design logic and so long as they don't make her one I am more than down for it. I wanna pinch her cheeks cause she reminds me of cringe warrior cat oc days lol

It’s not really canon, but the first cat to have heterochromia is a current SkyClan she-cat named Reedclaw, and she has one blue and one green eye, according to her pixel sprite.
I saw the provided silhouette while you were talking and was like "that's just a regular tortie/calico," glad you addressed that. Her eye colors aren't caused by white spotting at least, that only produces blue eyes. I'm a bit disappointed that she isn't more uniquely designed for it, honestly. Reasonably, a cat like Blackstar is more likely to be a chimera than she is. Though if her chimerism is the tortoiseshell and a bicolor or high white cat, that's neat. Especially because her fur pattern is as spread out as a tortoiseshell but she has a white underbelly (the color splotches on torties/calicos merge more the more white they have).

I'm so happy that you acknowledged Venus! I am also glad you checked genetics. MoonPaw is such a confusing cat genetic wise and like StormCloud would of worked MUCH better as a father because COUSINS 😭, but, since the writing team REALLY wants her to be a calico cat they resorted to cousins (Like the chimera thing would be way more real in my opinion if they made her half grey half black. Then StormCloud could work as well)
I agree with these points but I don’t see why people care that much about the accuracy of her genetic coloration when warriors has never been accurate about genes anyway. The whole thing with her parents being cousins thing though is very uncomfortable. But hey if there are people out there who don’t really care for this character there’s always dove wing. I mean she basically has heterochromia due to the whole green and blue eyes debate.

Moonpaw being the kit of sunbeam and nightheart would’ve been cool but there have been many other cases where the protagonist is the child of the previous arc’s protagonist. First arc is firestar second one is his daughters third arc is leafpools kits.
Moonpaw looks really cool despite all the confusion on if she's ACTUALLY a chimera cat or not. also my WC OC technically has Heterochromia, at first her eyes were green and blue like what we usually see, then i decided to change it to a more subtle technically maybe Heterochromia of darkish green and yellow-green, IDK if those similar colors REALLY count as Heterochromia though.

She might have been a tortie, not a calico.
When a tortie has high white spotting, it results in the brindle-like markings, to turn into patches. torties can still have white on them, though it's typically low white spotting.
