I bought a Jackery 1000 about a month ago and love it so much that I just bought a second one that's on it's way as I write this. I also bought two of the 100 watt Jackery solar panels... I don't live in a van or RV. I've lived in a very remote area of the Southern California Mojave Desert in a home on five acres of sand for the past 44 years. Thanks to the Professor, I've learned more from him than I ever learned in school. He's an American asset that should be given a TH-cam medal for his wisdom and teaching skills. I was born in 1937. Technology has taken off during my lifetime and things like the Jackery 1000 would have seemed impossible to create at the time I was growing up. The Edison electric company has trouble keeping the power on in California at any time, but during the hot summers my power is sometimes off more than it's on. The Jackery 1000, together with the solar panels and a small Honda Inverter Generator will help me and my 3 best friend dogs to survive for a few more years. Thank you Professor Hobo for giving me so much valuable information on so many things.

We have the Jackery Explorer 1000. We powered a 4.2 residential refrigerator in our off grid cabin, it ran it all night long. In the morning we turn on our propane generator to power the split A/C, and the refrigerator.
I know absolutely nothing about watts, amps, or volts; but I'm learning. Thank you so much for doing these videos. I hope to buy a good solar generator and panels as they become more affordable.

The 1000 is a beast but I just ordered a 500 because it is more than adequate for my needs. Besides the 1000, even with a discount, would be a little pricey for me. Got $50 off on Amazon for my 500. The 12v regulated output on the Jackery was the deciding factor over other units. I'm a recent subscriber and thanks for your excellent reviews. Because of your reviews I feel I have chosen the best and appropriate product for my needs.

For people who live in a home , they need to know to just power the essentials... make ice and flush your toilet / bathe . Keep it simple a be independent sooner rather then later. You don’t need a Cadillac when a VW will take care of your needs
Jackery is recalling the first generation Jackery 1000 due to a potential AC Output failure. They will replace them with a brand new unit. Pretty good service they have!
Just a little FYI to your viewers, those with CPAP especially. My wife uses CPAP. I got a watt meter and measured her machines consumption last night. Humidifier on as usual. I don't know if it warms the air or if it can be switched on of off if it does. It used 41 watts the way she always uses it. The meter calculated it used 0.317 Kilo Watts over night, about 8 hours. Your machine might use more or less but maybe it will be a ball park figure to help you plan what size you might need.
If you can do without the humidifier, than the consumption will drop considerably. Last night my ResMed Airsense 10 without humidifier used 18.8 Watts per hour.
We run a CPAP off our RV power system and changed the power supply over to a dc-dc unit instead of plugging into the 120v A/C plug running off the inverter. The new CPAP power supply plugs into the 12V socket and steps the voltage up to 24V. It was about a 40% decrease in power consumption running it off a DC power supply instead of the inverter. ResMed CPAP.
@@MisterRisk My guess is that these Jackerys do lots of things but those of us who need cpap are a significant piece of the market and the unit purchased has to be at least big enough to get you through the night. I wonder if that 12 to 24 thing has consistent 24 out as the 12 volt supply gets weaker and voltage drops? The Jackery maintains 12 volts until nearly the end of its discharge cycle.

Great video for real world applications. For those who don't know...If you don't know what something needs in watts.... Watts = Voltage x Amps...so something that pulls 2 amps on 110 volts = 220 watts. Something that pulls 2 amps on 12 volts = 24 watts. Yep, that simple.

Great review. I can charge this with the 120v in the bed of my 2017 Tacoma. All it would power is a 12v fridge, 12v water pump for a few minutes and a 12v water heater probe with a temp adjustment that I would only turn on a few minutes a day to heat water for dishes and a shower. This would be fantastic and so worth the price of a battle born battery. Great product

Thank you for your videos I almost bought a jackery 500 thinking that I couldn't plug in a coffee maker. I now have a much better idea of what it will and will not handle. So I am putting off buying a generator for now
Thanks again for this great video on things that can be powered. I purchased my jackery 1000 with 2 solar saga 100s on launch date. I haven't really used it because of the current health crisis. But have used it during 2 power outages here in the Northeast. It only used 7% to run my CPAP for 8 Hrs (12v) I have a converter for my Cpap. The following night used 13% on AC. Also powered a few other small devices. Oh I was informed this monday that the cable to connect both Panels would be coming before June. I emailed Jackery and they responded.
It will run an air fryer which is probably more versatile than a cook plate. I just bought a Jackery 1000 on Amazon Prime last week for $1100 which included two solar panels.

Thank you I have a diesel heater an was wondering how it would work cuz I read it can use up to 11.5 amps at start up. I seen a video were he tested it and with the glow plug on it was using 10.7 amps. Now I feel better about getting a solar generator.
Yea my mom runs her heater all nite long. How do we do that. If we run 2 hrs then turns off. How long does it take to recharge jackery by solar? Does the ecoflow or blueetti work better time charging by solar?? Other question if jackery was plugged in to solar say like on a winter day how many hours will it run?? Other question a full size house freezer how king will it run w jackery. Then how long will run w solar panels. Thanks. I'm trying to figure out for mom needs if jackery 1000 or ecoflow or bluetti. Great videos man, really. Glad I found you. Here is the million dollar question I have. If I were going to spend 1k on this product. How many years can it truly last. Let's pretend I take care of it according to the manual.
For all these devices with lcd screens. Its possible the screen on these devices could get damaged by accident if struct by an object. So a plexiglass insert or coverdoor would be nice , or make one. As for the 12v car port, I think those are fuse limited at 10A for safety due to thin consumer device wires , hence can only supply 120w but thats usually enough.
My Bluetti 2400 will run by portable induction cooktop on level two which draws 700 Watts. I'm able to boil water to make ramen and can soups and spaghetti.
So I have a jackery 500 and a 100w solar panel but I plan on connecting my marine battery and inverter up to the jackery and solar panel. All that together plus the cigarette plug-in in my car I should have no problem running my very small heater. At least I'm hoping.
I unfortunately am going to have to sleep in my car this winter so I bought all the van life type of power stuff just for a small heater and my phone. Hopefully I'll survive the winter lol.

This video content is approaching one year old, and the AC unit demo'd is getting harder to acquire, and may not today be the best of the best of the best across efficiency, quality, and economics. Is there a specific AC (updated offering) that the E1000 (version 2 if that matters) equally handles that is 2021 or very late 2020 model? And, what is the specific impact on W/H draw if migrating to the same maker, 6000 BTU, SOFT START version? Seeking a very specific AC update/replacement recommend for the AC unit you included in this video if you a tried and true contemporary option. Your product reviews WITH use cases of real appliances carry weight in the public eye. Keep em coming, as "lab testing" the ports with measurement devices, however seemingly cool isn't that helpful for the vast majority of POTENTIAL buyers of ULTRA PORTABLE, high power, stations/solar generators. Scenario. You have the 200w of solar panel. On your main bus cable. And you have it hooked up to let's say for jackery. Someone spent the big bucks in storage Supply for jackery.. Like to know how that will charged up. Like to know if you need a electric one way diode in front of every plugin.
Thanks for the excellent break down of the jackery/bluetti. Do you know if there's any way to avoid the problems (many) people have had with the manufacturers of these things? At this point I'm not comfortable with paying $1,500 or more for a device that I could be stuck with - unable to send back a faulty jackery/bluetti because shipping companies won't ship batteries? There were several huge problems people reported with even the most expensive brands/models.

I also have an ICECO GO20 Dual zone, works great with the Jackery 290.The great thing about the ICECO's are their compressors, they are German & have a 5 year warranty. I really do believe that the Jackery 1000 is the best bang for the buck, especially for power outages, like the ones we have here in Florida due to the Hurricanes.

I wanted to know if I can get rid of the gas powered one and replace it with a solar powered generator that can do the same as the gas powered one? Professor TOM....HELP!! I have the Jackery 1000 and want to run a PORTABLE air conditioner with exhaust hose to a Maxxair vent fan in a stealth van set-up and the LG 6000btu unit I bought shuts down my Jackery when the compressor cycle starts I'm guessing because it doesn't have "soft start" which I was unaware of till I saw this vid. I am a regular watcher of your channel and you have helped me tremendously for my build over the past year. You seem to be the only one I know smart enough to be able to guide me to finding (hopefully) a portable unit and maybe what to look for in the specs of units when shopping online, since info given in ads does not seem to state "soft start". Maybe another clue in specs? I looked at the Frigidaire in your vid, and it doesn't look like that could be used sitting completely inside the van, due to being a window unit and having no way to effectively vent or drain, or can it be modified?? I know you're probably plenty busy, and you are THE best channel existing today in this genere, and if anybody could help me, I knew it would be YOU!! Please Help! Most digital 6000btu won't run on a Jackery. You can run the fully mechanical Frigidaire 5000btu I have on my Amazon page but I don't know of any portables that small. You really need something like an EcoFlow Delta or Bluetti AC200 for those larger air conditioners.

I would buy a second jackery as a back up and/or get longer time of use in case of long periods of time where the solar energy is not available. For 1000 more dollars, i would be fully covered. Just my take. Maybe Jackery would give a 10% or so discount to get two of them. Do not forget that for some equipment like phones, tablets, using the car battery does not pose a problem at all. SO keep the jackery for 12v fridge, TV, coffee maker, small heater/AC... That said, for campers, a heated blanket seems to be a very good option. 10 minutes before getting pout of bed, turn on a small heater to warm up the van/camper and you would be just fine. Just my take as I am thinking about enjoying more time outdoor/off grid

It would be cool to see a video about how your diet have changed or the foods you prepare now more often having been living in a camper vs house if it have changed and if you like the camper life now vs the old life. Will Prowse didn't seem to enjoy the camper life and now has a house.

You need at least a 15 amp circuit dedicated to it (200w inverter), but yes.

Thanks again for this great video on things that can be powered. I purchased my jackery 1000 with 2 solar saga 100s on launch date. I haven't really used it because of the current health crisis. But have used it during 2 power outages here in the Northeast. It only used 7% to run my CPAP for 8 Hrs (12v) I have a converter for my Cpap. The following night used 13% on AC. Also powered a few other small devices. Oh I was informed this monday that the cable to connect both Panels would be coming before June. I emailed Jackery and they responded.
It will run an air fryer which is probably more versatile than a cook plate. I just bought a Jackery 1000 on Amazon Prime last week for $1100 which included two solar panels.

It seems most if not all the Frigidaire models include a soft start. My new 6000 btu does too.

Thank you I have a diesel heater an was wondering how it would work cuz I read it can use up to 11.5 amps at start up. I seen a video were he tested it and with the glow plug on it was using 10.7 amps. Now I feel better about getting a solar generator.
Yea my mom runs her heater all nite long. How do we do that. If we run 2 hrs then turns off. How long does it take to recharge jackery by solar? Does the ecoflow or blueetti work better time charging by solar?? Other question if jackery was plugged in to solar say like on a winter day how many hours will it run??

Great videos man, really. Glad I found you. Here is the million dollar question I have. If I were going to spend 1k on this product. How many years can it truly last. Let's pretend I take care of it according to the manual.
For all these devices with lcd screens. Its possible the screen on these devices could get damaged by accident if struct by an object. So a plexiglass insert or coverdoor would be nice , or make one.
As for the 12v car port, I think those are fuse limited at 10A for safety due to thin consumer device wires , hence can only supply 120w but thats usually enough.
My Bluetti 2400 will run by portable induction cooktop on level two which draws 700 Watts. I'm able to boil water to make ramen and can soups and spaghetti.

So I have a jackery 500 and a 100w solar panel but I plan on connecting my marine battery and inverter up to the jackery and solar panel. All that together plus the cigarette plug-in in my car I should have no problem running my very small heater. At least I'm hoping.
I unfortunately am going to have to sleep in my car this winter so I bought all the van life type of power stuff just for a small heater and my phone. Hopefully I'll survive the winter lol.

Is there a specific AC (updated offering) that the E1000 (version 2 if that matters) equally handles that is 2021 or very late 2020 model? And, what is the specific impact on W/H draw if migrating to the same maker, 6000 BTU, SOFT START version? Seeking a very specific AC update/replacement recommend for the AC unit you included in this video if you a tried and true contemporary option. I got the kit for 1500 ish. That included the unit and solar saga panels.
Scenario. You have the 200w of solar panel. On your main bus cable. And you have it hooked up to let's say for jackery. Someone spent the big bucks in storage Supply for jackery.. Like to know how that will charged up. Like to know if you need a electric one way diode in front of every plugin.

Thanks for the excellent break down of the jackery/bluetti. Do you know if there's any way to avoid the problems (many) people have had with the manufacturers of these things? At this point I'm not comfortable with paying $1,500 or more for a device that I could be stuck with - unable to send back a faulty jackery/bluetti because shipping companies won't ship batteries? There were several huge problems people reported with even the most expensive brands/models.

I also have an ICECO GO20 Dual zone, works great with the Jackery 290.The great thing about the ICECO's are their compressors, they are German & have a 5 year warranty. I really do believe that the Jackery 1000 is the best bang for the buck, especially for power outages, like the ones we have here in Florida due to the Hurricanes.

I wanted to know if I can get rid of the gas powered one and replace it with a solar powered generator that can do the same as the gas powered one? You need a pocket protector for that lab coat. And maybe you could find an old slide rule so when your talking about wattage consumption divided into available watthours you can whip out the slide rule and impress all your viewers!

I have the Jackery 1000 and want to run a PORTABLE air conditioner with exhaust hose to a Maxxair vent fan in a stealth van set-up and the LG 6000btu unit I bought shuts down my Jackery when the compressor cycle starts I'm guessing because it doesn't have "soft start" which I was unaware of till I saw this vid. I am a regular watcher of your channel and you have helped me tremendously for my build over the past year.
You seem to be the only one I know smart enough to be able to guide me to finding (hopefully) a portable unit and maybe what to look for in the specs of units when shopping online, since info given in ads does not seem to state "soft start". Maybe another clue in specs?
I looked at the Frigidaire in your vid, and it doesn't look like that could be used sitting completely inside the van, due to being a window unit and having no way to effectively vent or drain, or can it be modified??

Most digital 6000btu won't run on a Jackery. You can run the fully mechanical Frigidaire 5000btu I have on my Amazon page but I don't know of any portables that small. You really need something like an EcoFlow Delta or Bluetti AC200 for those larger air conditioners.

I would buy a second jackery as a back up and/or get longer time of use in case of long periods of time where the solar energy is not available. For 1000 more dollars, i would be fully covered. Just my take. Maybe Jackery would give a 10% or so discount to get two of them. Do not forget that for some equipment like phones, tablets, using the car battery does not pose a problem at all. SO keep the jackery for 12v fridge, TV, coffee maker, small heater/AC... That said, for campers, a heated blanket seems to be a very good option. 10 minutes before getting pout of bed, turn on a small heater to warm up the van/camper and you would be just fine. Just my take as I am thinking about enjoying more time outdoor/off grid
For personal heater I use a v12 car heater in my van it uses 50watts/h ,it’s sufficient

Like the reviews on the solar generators, surprised you havent reviewed the goal zeros yet or did I miss it? Deciding on which to get. The jackery 1000 would be great but missed out on the discount code. Looking at the goalzero yeti 1000. The bluetti is pricey but nice too
Goal Zero has no interest in sending me products. I tried twice. They are overpriced and dead slow to charge anyway.

I doubt it. Between the recall and supply issues don't expect one. They had a "Memorial Day Sale" for about 4 hours then yanked it right after I posted a video about it that THEY asked me to post. They aren't on my happy list right now.
