We will look back on the Yaris GR as one of the automotive achievements of the decade. Simple, light, well balanced, capable, and affordable for its abilities. It’s an absolute shame we didn’t get them here in the states.

Idk man I'm very much a Toyota man and I don't like M cars, but he looked to be significantly quicker across the first half of the track and then gave you the over-take just before the more technical areas of the track where you were able to flex all of the fearless advantages an AWD car has over everyone else. Perhaps if you were more aggressive he'd have moved over a lot sooner but I can understand the cautious lack of pressure on such a risky circuit.

The Yaris could not get anywhere near him until the M2 ALLOWED him to pass. Then he made some very risky moves - as evidenced by his poor road positioning - as shown on camera.
The M2 driver isn't driving the car to its full potential. I know because I have one, and I have several hundred laps of the Nordschleife under my belt. The M2 driver is braking at wrong points, not turning in at the right time and missing the apex on lots of turns. The Yaris is an excellent car, I know because I have driven one and its quite astonishing. But if it was someone who knows how to drive the M2 on the limit, especially on the Nordschleife..... well, it would have been a different video. Good lap 😎😎

Just a small input from Australia since we did get the GR. I have it on good authority from acquaintances that cashed up collectors who don't really give two hoots about the car are buying them, driving them back to the garage and waiting for hyper-appreciation to kick on. Same thing happened here with the two-door Subaru WRX STi - get in quick, pay $70k Australian, wait til sold out, sell for $110k Australian. $cha-ching$. I don't like it but it is happening..

Impressive the Yaris and what you can do with it. But the M2 driver wasn't taking the car quite to the edge as you were and neither was using the whole track like your were. Would love to see what you can do with an M2 taken to its limits as well and compare lap times. Sometimes is not the machine you drive, but what you can (and have the guts to) do with it
How could you possibly know how hard the bmw was being pushed? were you in the car? do you have in car footage? The yaris has 1 less cylinder, and the bmw probly was an automatic which we all know how fast german autos shift.... and not to mention the price gap... You were going through the corners at around 20+ kph faster without him lagging in front of you. I honestly think it's less about the M2 having less cornering ability and more on the driver's lack of skill. But man, I'd love to learn to drive like you. Very impressive.
I can see the M2 really struggling in the corner. Some of the time, the car kinda slipped a little on a hard turn, making the car turn wide. And also early breaking.
The M2 driver defintly wasn't that good, but was also not very bad. But the fact that a littel yaris can keep up with a car double the price and 160hp more is impressive.
I would say this is more a driver contest than anything. The M2 is clearly a faster car, but not the driver...the Yaris is also extremely easy to drive fast.

Hello! Great video like the others you've released! I have one question, I am seeing that you had turned off the stability systems but the TRC light is not lighten. When I disable the aid systems in my car also TRC goes off (light in the dash come on). How did you manage this?
Someone else has already brought that up. Honestly I have no idea. I just keep the TC button pressed after it shows "expert" to go to the full off mode. If I am in expert and I push it, I can see the TC light blinking so the light it self works. My car is early production (delivery December 2020).
@@darrenrogers6430, it's a safety mechanism. If the car has to brake suddenly, say on a motorway at 70mph, the vehicle behind knows that it is braking heavily, hence it can do the same, possibly avoiding a collision.
