      Nik from bad obession motorsport has mentioned this being one of his pet peeves, really expensive bearing, coilovers, alloy wheels capped with the cheapest set of Ditchfinder tires to totally negate any benefit from all of the above.

    A trick on a stuck race like that. Just weld a little on the face on one side. It will heat it up and shrink the other side and make it very very easy to pull out

    • @beezul
      @beezul 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yup, that works just about all of the time. A stuck outer race WILL shrink when you lay a bead on the ball groove with a welder. Either stick or wire feed will work, sparkle a quarter inch of bead in 2 spots, she'll almost fall out. Done that for years as a mechanic. Sure, cutting a groove out with a flame wrench works too, but, is messy. (fire and stuff)

    Friend Andy,
    Please tell me I am wrong and should know better BUT no matter how closely I looked for a jack stand or anything to take a stand's place except maybe a 5 gallon plastic pail when you were underneath Juanita or yanking the crap out of the bearing and race.
    I would be beyond sad at losing you and your channel's content but not nearly as much as your family would be.
    Keep it funky, my fellow bohemian.

    I just did this on my truck. Had a bent axle. Guess you shouldn't haul 1 ton of dirt in a half ton truck. Replaced the axle and bearings and seals on both sides as long as I got the pinion out figured I would do both sides. Next is u joints.

  • @beany1987
    @beany1987 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    Andy i know safety is 3rd, but please use something other than just a jack to hold the truck up. Axle stands, wood whatever just a jack is really asking for trouble!!

      @That70sChannel ปีที่แล้ว +1

      For sure. Except wood. At least, not 2x4s. My h.s. autoshop got a V8 'cause the previous owner was under his car when the stack of 2x4s toppled, crushing him.

      @SpaceAgeCastaway guy who lived across the road from the me, died when his jack failed and crushed him about 5 years ago. He worked on cars every weekend since those houses were built 25 years ago, his time was up and that Jack failed, blew a seal and came down on him.
