  • Blows hot air only on passenger side, while blowing cold A/C air on driver side. In my opinion, poor manufacture design.

I need to add that this is not a "do-it-yourselfer" job. I was an ASE Certified Master Technician for most of my career. I do have many pics from start to finish. I don't know how to add them to this video. Help please:). This is my first video attempt. Also, the mouse was definitely NOT the culprit. I have pics of the mouse damage, and that rodent didn't come close to the problem area.

Good morning, Aaron. I think I have the same problem on the driver's side in my 2015 RAV4. Do you still have those pictures? I felt unsure whether or not it was worth the risk/work. But seeing your video, I'm thinking I can double check with an endoscope before I make the same repair

Can you tell me how to get to this part? This is what's going on with my car and winter in Canada, you NEED heat but can't seem to get to the box from inside the car?

Hi, can you tell me, please, the name of the purchased product from ebay ?(the plastic or the entire box ?) I have a Rav4 2007 limited, automatic climate control with the same problem. Thank you for your answer.

I'm having the same issue on my 2013 Rav4, except that mine blows hot air on the driver side. I checked the servos and they appear to be good. What's the part number for the box I can refer to when ordering it?

Did you ever find out? He appears to say hvac box?

How you solve problem mine do same

    • @victorvelazquez8187
      @victorvelazquez8187 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Actually yes, sorry for not replying earlier. The issue on mine didn't involve the hvac box at all. It was a more common issue with the condenser on the engine compartment. These models suffer from corrosion on some spots on the condenser that over time cause refrigerant leaks. Somehow the air conditioner "compensate" by not cooling one side of the vent. I took mine to an hvac tech and they found the leak and replaced the condenser, and thay fixed the issue.

I have the reverse problem - any ideas?

  • @Dot12

Had the exact problem on my 2014 rav4. Dealership wanted 5k for the job. The ac heater assembly part alone was 2-3k.
I ended up doing it myself. I’m no mechanic and it took me a whole day to do it. I found a video of a guy taking each of the parts out, which helped a lot because some pieces were hard to take out.
Once I got the ac heater assembly out, I opened it up and found the exact problem. The clips on mine were fine. The plastic was wrinkled up. I took the plastic off the hook and ironed it out back to its shape. I tested it manually and it worked. Later found out that the servo/actuator was broken too. It wouldn’t move when the temps are low. For now, I just set it manually until I get the new part. Poor design on the flap by Toyota. I greased up the gears and that was about it. No guarantees that this won’t happen again.

If I had to do it again, I would organize all the screws and such. Maybe take pictures off each thing I took out. It took 2x longer figuring how to piece everything back together. A rookie mistake.

      Hi Samuel,
I need you to answer a few questions first. What is the year, make, model of your vehicle? Also, does it have the automatic dual climate control?

Hi,its a toyota corolla verso 2008 vvti.1.8 engine cap. Yes,it is a manual and petrol engine right hand drive.it has an auto ac control and also manual contols and dual control tab.. just refill gas and it was working fine.just the other day i turn the temp up in the morning while it was cold ,i am not sure if thats why its blowing hot on drivers side and cold on passenger side.

    • @aaroncrosby5814

      Samuel Adegeloye ,
Sorry it has taken so long for me to respond. I've been very busy. From what you wrote, it appears that you have dual climate control. That means you can adjust the temperature on the driver's side, and the passenger side. If this is the case, then you should first perform a self diagnostics test. If the test doesn't display trouble codes, then I would manually check the actuators. After that, I'd test the actuators with a volt/ohm meter. If all test good, then see if you can remove enough vent ducts to gain access to view the blend doors in the HVAC box. That's a start.

I have the same problem. I called Toyota and the guy didn't really have a name for it, just said it was called AC/Rad assembly.... I don't think that's right because I can't find anything under that online anywhere.

@@elviscapra9536 summer by pass the engine coolant pipes which are connected to inner heater by U pipe or flexible pipe. So hot water cant circulate at inner unit.In winter deconnect to correct position. Open the engine cowling so you can see at right side. But never block the circulation because gearbox oil coolant connected to this system. If you send me e mail i will send the photos.
