Hey mate any idea why mines is leaking fuel when it’s not running have came back to it with a empty tank, the guy said I don’t need to worry about the big the fuel in the off position as he never did either
I use www.cmsnl.com/ for all my genuine parts that I can't get on ebay, but my aftermarket parts I get form ebay youbjust have to be careful and stick to decent brand parts as tye cheep ones are crap, I do try to link all the parts I recommend in the description of my videos. Hope this helps and thank you for watching.
Hello. Just bougt ann old lt50 that dident run. Finally got it to run. but it just run for 10 min or something. Then stops. And will not start again. Start on first pull when cold. Any tipse? Thank you Tom
Your English is good cheers tom, so you are getting too much fuel or not enough air if that makes sense, so cheak your air filter isn't blocked, cheak the needle in carburettor has the clip in the middle grove, also cheak that the choke is moveing up and down and not stuck in the on position, see how you get on with that and let me know.
@@Martysworkshop dont have the stock air filter, but think it's good. What clip? On the fuel nippel that goes in the carbruetor? The choke seems okei. Its stops when i turn it on when it run.
if my carburetor has rust and a lot of corrosion at the bottom of the bowl should I replace it? My float broke. So I was either going to buy a new carburetor or just buy a new float.
Rust is usually a sign that your fuel tank may need a good clean out, but honestly i have never failed to clean one of these carbs out. And if you are going to buy one i would advise only to buy a genuine one as the cheep copy ones can cause more issues,
Hi! I've got an Lt50 with the mikuni carb, now on the main jet there is a piece of hose or plastic with a slight dent in it. What is this? I've never seen it in a carb before. I guess it reduces the floats travel and hence stops it from draining the bowl?
Hi mate wondering if you can help, I've just purchased an air filter box with element but on the diagram online it appears the paper gasket goes on the inside of the air box under the element that can't be right can it?
@@Martysworkshop hi thanks for the quick response. That's what I thought as a gasket inside the box serves no purpose. I think looking at the diagram the thing that appeared to be the gasket is the metal gasket shaped bracket that goes inside and the paper against the carb👍 just doesn't help in black and white thanks again
Hey Marty. Awesome video. Just wondering if you have any ideas, my Lt50 bogs down and won’t rev out. Also I can’t adjust the Idling any slower (cause the screw falls out, but when up on “hoist” the wheels are still spinning. Is this a sign of piston wear? I have cleaned the carb several times and followed your video. But still won’t won’t rev out, and rides very slow, I’ve taken exhort off and still the same. I have pushed the crank seal back in as it came out and wouldn’t start at all. - Starts easy, - Idles fast, (can’t make it any slower) - Seems to only rev about half. Even though throttle is working fine, choke works fine - Slow to ride.
@ thanks for your reply, the pipe had a small hard split end so cut it off and reconnected it, but still no better. The idling has seem to settle down. the needle position was in the middle ring, but put it down one to increase fuel, but still not better. Still has me buffled.
Just put new spark plug in, no difference. I also swapped carbs over from the good lt50 to this one and still no difference. Also changed fuel lines. - still has me stumped.
SO i put in new rings, spark plug, gear oil, cleaned out my carb, but when i run it, it only runs well with the choke lever down, is that proper? thank u
No this means you are getting too much air and not enough fuel because the choke restricts the air and adds extra fuel, you need to make sure you don't have an air leak ie fuel tap vacuum pipe connected and no splits or your seals between cylinder and carb are ok, then i would readjust your fuel mixture on your carb like i did in the part 2 of my video, it might be that because you replaced the rings the piston is sucking in air at a higher rate but fuel can only get through as fast as the mixture screw will let it, as you only adjust how much fuel it gets, hope this makes sense.
Hey Marty first off love the videos , u explain everything so prefect sn easy to understand , but quick question hope can get a answer but have a 85 lt50 an when properly tuned an using premix 32/1..how much smoke exactly should come out of muffler, should it be visible?
Thank you for your kind feedback, so its not very visible on these quads for some reason, not like on most 2 stroke bikes. But 32/1 is a good strong mix so i would be happy that that is more than enough for lubrication, only thing i would say i make sure you use a motorcycle 2 stroke oil not a strimmer or chainsaw oil. Thank you for supporting the channel
@@Martysworkshop oh awesome thanks for the quick reply, yeah I was a tad worried when it was tuned where it ran best and I'm not getting much smoke out but gas is mixed well so now I'm not worried thanks again
Hi Marty, thanks for doing this series, i have watched them all twice now lol. I hope you keep it going as its the best by far for this little quad on TH-cam. I have a question if you dont mind? At 11.40 you are looking at a seal between the carb and intake manifold, ("plastic bush with a piece missing") do you know the proper name for this? My kids quad is missing this and it could be the cause of why it bogs down. Been looking everywhere and i can't find it
Thank you for all your support. Yes, I have been a little slow getting the engine striped down so will get another video up soon, ans as for that seal ring, I van see what you mean I use 2 different websites for genuine parts and nether of them list it, I will have to speak to my local dealer an can only advise you do the same sorry.
Hi there, what size of main jet are you tuning, I had 55 main jet but when replaced topend and piston. I went with a 65 main jet, drilled a few extra small holes in airfilter lid. But looks slower that before.
Hello I'm not sure on the size but this is just the standard jetting at the moment i will be tuning this carb after i rebuild the engine. Thank you for watching
Hello Marty, thanks fot the videos. i have a question to ask if you dont mind. I recently got my lt-50 out of the garage after 15 years and got her running. how ever after letting the little one on it it dosent start, he was going full speed down a hill and cutting the engine swtich for a moment for a pop. after the second time she didnt start. still sparks etc just isnt having any of it. :(
Hello and thank you for supporting the channel, so after you pull it over a few times then remove the plug can you smell fuel on the plug if not i would go through the carb if it is getting wet with fuel altho you ave spark you can still have a weak plug or the coil could not be supplying the correct amount of power to plug, now as for cause of your fault that is quite unusual the only thing that i would check as you was intentionally causing a backfire is that you haven't snapped the key on the crank and spun the flywheel, this would put your spark timing out, this is because you flywheel is desinged to be heavy and keep the engine rotating and when you cause the backfire you are causing the crank to rapidly stop and try to go in reverse, i would definitely remove the flywheel and check, i hope this helps
@@Martysworkshop thankyou very much for your reply. I have been told that but without as much detail. i shall do what you said and ill let you know how i get on. Thanks again pal
The engine needs oil for lubrication, you can either mix it with the fuel before you put it in the tank or you can use the factory fitted tank under the seat witch pumps the oil into the engine directly, i hope this helps
