After six successful test flights, it's just a short five minute drive to our local colony to hard release our bats to the wild following time in care for various reasons.
Hard releasing means just that. We take them from our flight aviary and fly them back in the colony preferably during the day to allow them time to get their act together and work out where they are as some came from different areas.
All are adults and they will be familiar with the colonies across our region.
Our orphans on the other hand are soft released, meaning they go into a creche situation where they spend time before the hatch is opened and they are free to come and go being support fed until they fully integrate into the local colony.
