Yea it's frickin insane. Def on purpose. There is no way in hell gopro cannot put a bluetooth connection chip in their camera. Other companies do it no prob. So with a gopro you have to get a sena audio pack with only the hero 3 to let it do BT. Staggering. Someone should be able to listen to music and record audio all at the same time.

Please make a new GP10 audio pack for the newer go pros! That thing was THE BEST. Completely wireless and picked up conversations really well. I know newer go pros changed to USB-C and what not but I’m sure Sena can make something that would work!
I found a way to still use my GP10 with current versions of GoPro cameras by using a self made cable that replaces the connector and of course you need a microphone adapter oder media mod for the microphone jack then. I explained it in this video: th-cam.com/video/RS11LH2VyLQ/w-d-xo.html But I also experienced a kind of a cracking sound in my recordings the occurs for every firmware of the 20S after 1.6.2 and also for any newer Sena device. This is why I switched to one of the solutions presented in this video in the meanwhile.
It appears the wired connection only works with intercom conversations? I connected my 50S directly to a GoPro Hero 10 in a Media Mod. I thought this would just record my voice straight to the GoPro, but no, all it does is create a high pitched buzz. Unless I'm missing a setting, I'm stumped....
Top Tip: If you are simply connected to the "Bluetooth Voice Recorder" App (you don't even have to hit record!) - it will enable Sidetone (Providing you have this feature turned on in the Sena App) and export audio to your GoPro - super handy if you have your helmet setup to capture group audio but you want to capture a solo Vlog. This allows you to use all the noise cancelling tech from your Sena instead of having to put a second mic in your helmet!
When using a headset with a headphone port in its base, then, yes, you can record others in the group. But not yourself. So, I do as you suggest and replace my headset speakers with a set that will also plug into the headphone jack so I can still hear everyone. To do that AND get audio to my action camera, I do as you showed, and split the audio with one split going to helmet speakers that plug into the splitter, and the other split to send audio to the GoPro. HOWEVER, the audio is too hot to go directly into the action camera, so I use an in-line attenuator to bring it down to mic level. Then, I plug the attenuator into one side of a stereo-separating splitter going into the stereo recording on my Go Pro (but only recording on one side of the stereo recording). Into the other side of that stereo separator, I plug in an independent helmet mic. That way, I get my third-party helmet mic into the action camera (GoPro in my case) with the video and embedded stereo-separated audio. Since I have the stereo splitter, my independent helmet mic is on one side of the stereo audio, and everything I hear is on the other side of that stereo recording. In post, I change the stereo track into two independent mono tracks. I can then set my voice and the voice of the other ride independently with just one adjustment. No going through an audio track isolating who is speaking and changing his level a hundred times between words. Bonus tip: You can plug in power to the extra USB-C port on the audio adaptor on the side with audio input and record as long as you have SD card space. The Mesh Port Blue is the way to bridge between Cardo and Sena. Link the Mesh Port Blue to your Cardo via Bluetooth and you are now on Sena Open Mesh 2.0. Anything on the Cardo Mesh or Bluetooth will go out the Mesh Port Blue to Sena Open Mesh 2.0 and anything on the Open Mesh 2.0 will go through the Mesh Port Blue to the Cardo which will send it to the Cardo Mesh. I really wish Sena would do two things: - IP67 their units. - Work with Cardo and work out an open-source mesh network that every communication company can use. My comms collection is simple. 20S EVO. Carry one in my tank bag. Removed the jog knob because it can get shaken up pretty good. Straight cable from earphone jack to recorder. Pair the 20S EVO to my 50S. Anyone pairs with my 50S or joins the Open Mesh gets recorded. Sort of the set-up she shows at 1:40, without a splitter cable, and it's not on a helmet. I can tell it's working because my recorder shows what its "external" mic levels are.
Can you clarify that the SMH series does or doesn't have an audio out option? I can only see the plug for MP3, assuming that can't be used as audio out?
i have the sena 50r by harman cardon and since the speakers have new connectors and no aux connectors i cant record at all... dear sena team is there any solution for this? or will there be one in the future? for now i have to use and extra mic adapter connected to my gopro and record only my audio... i would be happy to recieve an answer... regard ahmet
Hi. You can use the 10R Earbud Split Cable instead of the speakers. That way you can use a Y-splitter for a pair of earbuds to hear audio along with enabling the Sidetone feature to have your voice captured and an audio cable to go to the mic in on the GoPro camera to record the audio that you hear. We own the cycling helmets and love them. Recently discover the GoPro audio pack and have used it to record audio on our bike rides. Problem I’m having is when I use the optional external mics on the pack my voice records with a noticeable echo on the intercom audio track. This appears the to be the result of having the camera near to me, which is unavoidable. Any suggestions to correct for this? Thanks!

The Sena wireless digital mic/intercom sounds muffled, because of the built in high wind noise reduction. Unfortunately it also makes your voice sound muffled, making it sound like you have a speach impediment. I wonder if a lavalier mic can be plugged into the mic's headphone socket to get clearer sharper sounding audio from a lavalier mic?

Hi Yes, you would just utilize the phone connection and I use the app audio memos on Iphone. I had to pay for the $0.99 version to allow for Bluetooth recording. Several of the apps will state if the premium version allows you to record over Bluetooth. Again it will only record you and you can't talk to anyone else as it is just you and your phone. -Ab
I am trying to use the Sena 20S as a audio recorder for videos and no matter how I connect the Y cable from the port on the front of the Sena, the microphone will just not pick up any audio. I am using a TRRS connector that connects into the Sena front port that splits into two female ends. I connect one TRS double male connector into a mobile recorder and then the other into my headphones. I can't hear any audio coming into my headphones or pick up any audio from my microphone that comes with the Sena 20s. I'd really appreciate any help I can get with this issue. Thank you!

Why aren’t you and Cardo using standardized Bluetooth SIG beacon mesh implementations that are compatible with each other? I’ve ordered one of each companies best model but I’m asking for now, is Cardo using some proprietary mesh implementation that they won’t allow you guys to use, or vice versa? And if so is there any justification you can explain before I jump ahead to making assumptions based on my software and hardware analysis ? Thanks. Hi, is it possible to connect + Mesh with universal bluetooth so that you can connect to the network of Sena users with it? I have a universal bluetooth device and my gang drives with bluetooth Sena. I want to connect with them.
For me the Sena SF4 is a quite good starting point for such a setup, as it already comes with the matching headphone jack and the matching headphones. So the only thing you need is the splitter cable. I showed this in my dualvlog setup video: th-cam.com/video/6IaMkQB0RO0/w-d-xo.html Using the headphone jack of the 50S for example, I experienced that the volume level is lower than it is with the "internal" speakers. Actually I prefer to use the 50R with a 10R earbud adapter split cable (10R-A0101) . Of course you also need the SF HD speakers as you have shown in your video. But for me this is a nice and slim solution that you can completely hide in your helmet. I've shown both variations in my second dualvlog setup video: th-cam.com/video/sgCNIYFFWTQ/w-d-xo.html I also found a solution to use the good old GP10 with any 3.5mm microphone input like the GoPro microphone adapter or media mod, or any Sony action cam, using a self made cable that replaces the connector piece. I explained it in this video: th-cam.com/video/RS11LH2VyLQ/w-d-xo.html A big benefit of the solution with the additional mic in the helmet and the two splitters (actually a splitter and a divider) is, that you have your own audio and the audio of the others on two separate channels. This way you have more freedom to prioritize the different sources when cutting your video. You also forgot to mention, that by default the headphone jack only provides the audio from the other users and not your own! You need to enable the "Sidetone" to have your own voice as well. And this will work only when you are connected to another user.
The final truth is that: the only way to record audio (without having too many wires and plugs connected), is using the SENA 10C EVO, but... the SENA 10C EVO has a very bad image quality compared to good action cameras. If you want good image with audio, you will have to make a mess of wires. Sad....
why can't y'all just offer the clamp and change the headphone out to a line out? Maybe in the next generation...Not holding my breath. the only thing that would be better would be if the app could control the volume level of each item. ie I could mute any thing coming from my phone...music, phone calls.
Little guy records everything - yes, everything except phone calls - even if your phone partner allows you to record the call. :( Sena says that‘s because of legal issues - but the second method doesn‘t care at all if you record a phone call or not. 🤔
So wait. If i want to use the splitter coming out of the Sena headphone jack into a Tascam or some other audio recording device, but doing so disables the Sena earphone coming into my helmet? I wont be able to the conversation?
Using the headphone jack disables the internal speakers, but this is why you are using a splitter. One output of the splitter is send to the recording device and the other one is used to connect to speakers that replace the internal ones. 2022 and we've reverted to using a 1/8" TRS splitter and a Zoom H1. The GoPro backpack was so much cleaner.

No. During the time of recording you are not in intercom mode, but you are connected to your phone so it will record over bluetooth. -Ab

I am using a TRRS connector that connects into the Sena front port that splits into two female ends. I connect one TRS double male connector into a mobile recorder and then the other into my headphones. I can't hear any audio coming into my headphones or pick up any audio from my microphone that comes with the Sena 20s. I'd really appreciate any help I can get with this issue. Thank you!

Why aren’t you and Cardo using standardized Bluetooth SIG beacon mesh implementations that are compatible with each other? I’ve ordered one of each companies best model but I’m asking for now, is Cardo using some proprietary mesh implementation that they won’t allow you guys to use, or vice versa? And if so is there any justification you can explain before I jump ahead to making assumptions based on my software and hardware analysis ? Thanks. And make sena devices connected to Gopro via Bluetooth. They make it complicated.
For me the Sena SF4 is a quite good starting point for such a setup, as it already comes with the matching headphone jack and the matching headphones. So the only thing you need is the splitter cable.

Using the headphone jack of the 50S for example, I experienced that the volume level is lower than it is with the "internal" speakers.
Actually I prefer to use the 50R with a 10R earbud adapter split cable (10R-A0101) . Of course you also need the SF HD speakers as you have shown in your video. But for me this is a nice and slim solution that you can completely hide in your helmet.

I also found a solution to use the good old GP10 with any 3.5mm microphone input like the GoPro microphone adapter or media mod, or any Sony action cam, using a self made cable that replaces the connector piece. I explained it in this video: th-cam.com/video/RS11LH2VyLQ/w-d-xo.html
A big benefit of the solution with the additional mic in the helmet and the two splitters (actually a splitter and a divider) is, that you have your own audio and the audio of the others on two separate channels. This way you have more freedom to prioritize the different sources when cutting your video.
You also forgot to mention, that by default the headphone jack only provides the audio from the other users and not your own!
You need to enable the "Sidetone" to have your own voice as well. And this will work only when you are connected to another user.

Why is there no new wireless option in nearly a decade ?
The final truth is that: the only way to record audio (without having too many wires and plugs connected), is using the SENA 10C EVO, but... the SENA 10C EVO has a very bad image quality compared to good action cameras. If you want good image with audio, you will have to make a mess of wires. Sad....
why can't y'all just offer the clamp and change the headphone out to a line out? Maybe in the next generation...Not holding my breath.
the only thing that would be better would be if the app could control the volume level of each item. ie I could mute any thing coming from my phone...music, phone calls.

Sena says that‘s because of legal issues - but the second method doesn‘t care at all if you record a phone call or not. 🤔
So wait. If i want to use the splitter coming out of the Sena headphone jack into a Tascam or some other audio recording device, but doing so disables the Sena earphone coming into my helmet? I wont be able to the conversation?
Using the headphone jack disables the internal speakers, but this is why you are using a splitter. One output of the splitter is send to the recording device and the other one is used to connect to speakers that replace the internal ones.
