There’s a reason why little girls love this stuff.❤ Care Bears, Strawberry Shortcake, Rainbow Brite, Blinkins, MLP G3, and every other girly retro show: you are seen, you are appreciated and you are loved. Honestly I hate how G4 purists think that anything that isn’t G4 is considered to be the worst thing Hasbro has created. They love to bash on G3 and G5 and say for the millionth time how both gave them SCIDS yet being blind to the very fact that there would be no FiM had those gen’s didn’t exist. One of the reasons why they are the worst sub-clan of the fandom, they are so sensitive to change that it’s embarrassing.
G4 isn’t perfect either, season 4 started a massive nosedive in writing as the M6 started to become flanderized to where they can be at their most infuriating. Seriously, the 28 pranks later episode makes me want to strangle Pinkie with a rope. I abandoned the show at that point and watched G1-3 stuff instead. At least they stay true to their characters even though they are 1-dimensional.
While I didn’t get into MLP as a franchise until a couple years ago, I appreciate pretty much all gens. G3 is quite charming and the visuals and songs are really good. I don’t really get the hate, it’s just wholesome whimsical fun.
Yup, princess promenade explored the;"commoner gets the crown"long before"princess twilight"! And very minty Christmas not"yet another Christmas Carol"!
I personally grew up with G3, mainly the toys themselves and the animated movies, now as an adult I am a bit of a collector still keeping many of my childhood ponies with my mother (Who grew up watching the G1 cartoon and really wanting the toys themselves). I wouldn't say its a bad gen, its just a very different approach than what the G4 people are used to. At the end of the day MLP is a franchise about colorful pastel colored horses that sing about friendship with a target demographic of girls age 5, it was never made with adults in mind and I think the G4/G5 fandom needs to keep that in mind when reviewing the past gens because MLP at its core has ALWAYS been mainly for little girls. I say this as a 20 year old collector with a 50 year old collector for a mother.
Gen 3 was not bad at all, just made for a different audience is all. Had a good few of the characters and voice talents you would come to know and love in Gen 4. Really no other gen came close to gen 3. The only thing we really got out of Gen 2 was Kelly Sheridan who played the main character melody. Its really interesting to me that the oldest va in the fandom is in fact Kelly (Starlight Glimmer), she is not old as a person, but that was one of if not her first VA role. Just something fun
@@NewSonyWonderHappyMadisonFan my bad, I still stand by Gen 3 not being bad, it was just from a different time. Love the history, and lore they keep returning to the brand.
I grew up with this generation. It probably influenced my taste in fashion and aesthetics (pink, bejeweled, hyper femme, pastels, flowers, etc). Wondermint (who never appeared in animation) was my personal favorite because she was the first pony I got, and I liked her bejeweled cutie mark. I didn’t watch FiM, but it’s a shame Minty never appeared.
Thank you! G3 has always been my favorite generation. The hate for G3 in the Brony fandom made me stop identifying myself as a Brony at all, and even adopt the G3 style in my artwork. I also hate how "No Overarching Plot" has become a negative when it comes to reviewing shows. We've been, for lack of better words, "spoiled" in the past 10 years with shows and games that bank on customers theorizing on LOOOOOOORRRREEEE~!!!! and now when people look back, they think it's "bad writing" if it's not there.
@erikbihari3625 I'm not saying it didn't exist earlier. I'm just saying all the sudden every show that's made in the modern day feels like is HAS to have deep lore, to try to get a piece of the fandom that FNAF and FiM got. Now people are young enough that they don't remember a time "before" and think entertainment is a strict box and anything different is automatically bad.
@@SammyJ_Studios. Was merely referencing the fact that with the internet growing, and people finding new interests, entertainment become Frankenstein's monster!
Yeah, despite what bronies seemingly believe. This franchise's popularity didn't start with f.i.m., and not forget;before streaming, only popular broadcast cartoons get own theateical movies!
Also to note: the G3 character animation was a pretty close match for the G3 figures, which like the animated characters look similar to G1-style Ponies. The stories were simpler because the audience was younger. Back in the 1980s it was normal for 10, 11, 12 year olds to play with toys still, & continue collecting them, if not actively playing, well into puberty. Megan in the G1 shows was 12, & many children were meant to see her as a self-insert, where they could be Megan & go on Pony adventures. By the 200s it was seen as babyish if you were playing with toys in double-digit ages, & even 9 could be seen as too old for toys, so the stories had to cater to a younger demographic. What's more, the generations were different. Back in the 1980s the kids were Gen X, & often expected to fend for themselves, roll with the punches, & learn the hard way, so darker tales weren't a problem. In the 2000s the kids were Gen Z, who are now just entering adulthood. They were curious about Mum's (or Dad's) toy collections, & wanted to learn about worlds with rainbow creatures in fantastical worlds, but by then children were more protected, & parents more vigilant, so showing them dark tales like enslavement, loss of homes, kidnapping, & other dangers was not on, hence the fun, low-stakes, parties all the time tales of the G3 DVDs.
As a girl that grew up with pre-gen 4 MLP, it always upset me how adults that came from gen 4 trashed on the older gens for being too 'girly' and other nonsense like that. Like... it's a show about pastel ponies doing cute stuff that was aimed at four-to-six-year olds so they could sell toys - of course it's going to be girly. And besides, it was beloved by gen-4's creator, so why trash on the old when it is the backbone of the gen you love now? While modern shows aimed at girls are great for focusing on other topics and branching out, having a show that's just full of whimsy and fun is needed sometimes for those girls who like girly things. Sometimes I need a break from intense or story-heavy shows, and old MLP was that for me. I still have a lot of the old discs and even ones that go all the way back to when there were sea ponies, unicorns getting kidnapped, and humans running around. It will always be special to me and I will defend it passionately for everything it did for me. It brought me closer to my older brother who was happy to sit on the floor and play with me with all of my MLP toys and go along with my wild stories, even if he loved to upset me with the 'skinny and boney' parody of the opening song. He watched the episodes with me, sang the opening properly sometimes, and would even let me climb on his back and he'd pretend to be one of the ponies while I was Megan. Hell, 'Where Have the Unicorns Gone?' has been a song that's been in my head since the day I heard it and it never left. And I'm in my twenties! And as an aside, personally, I've always preferred the more stocky builds of pre gen-4 ponies. They were strong and sure-footed like real ponies are, yet they were graceful and feminine.
8:07 Whenever I watch a very Minty Christmas the way they do their backgrounds reminds me of Dora the Explorer, I used to watch it all the time so it makes me nostalgic.
I’ll be honest, to start with I did dislike G3, I didn’t hate it though. I guess I was influenced by watching people reacting to it and really tearing it to shreds. However,as I kept rewatching clips of G3, Minty grew on me more and more, and quickly became my favourite G3 pony. Over time, I also grew to like G3 as a whole. Sure, it definitely isn’t the best in terms of writing or character development, and it’s probably as stereotypically’girly’ as MLP can get, but it’s harmless aand definitely fun to watch. Glad you had a great first time at UK PonyCon, it’s an awesome event.
And the fact this existed proves m.l.p. Always been popular even before Lauren Faust. Heck, transformers And pony movies failure, get the joes out, even though movie was done, and duke's death adred into coma! Wild?
Gen 3 is VERY close to my heart as this was the generation I grew up with, as well as a few Gen 1 ponies and DVDs. I honestly prefer G3 Pinkie Pie over G4, though admittedly its mostly nostalgia talking. And Minty was so amazing! I still have the singing Minty plush.
Yeah, pinkiemwas always the cheerful party planner, but fourth gen really exaggerated that! Sure, anime got popular since, but this franchise never felt desperate trend chase.
I really liked g3. I found the art style actually pretty appealing, & the toys from g3 are pretty firmly my favorites. They’re not as… oddly squished & oddly proportioned? as g1 g2 basically doesn’t count, I think, but I do love their designs g4… horse noses do not come to a point. I like it as an animated series, but the toys I can’t say I care for much. Though, the variety can push up my opinion a bit, so they’re probably my second favorite. Like, it’s kind of obvious that the Kotobukiya figures are great, but they’re definitely not your average figure. And g5, maybe it’ll grow on me, but like a lot of folks, the very forward facing eyes & weirdly human jaw isn’t my jam. I LOVE the strong jawlines, horse-like cheeks, & especially the more subtle taper from the forehead to the muzzle of the g3 toys compared to more modern gens. Their heads are sort of a blocky pear shape, as horses do. I like the long-ish but sturdy legs. I just like g3.
I'm SO glad that the fandom finally started warming up to G3! The hate for it back in the day was beyond eyeroll worthy and oversaturated to me, like you already watch cartoon about pastel horses and friendship, why are you shredding its older sibling for its girliness? Loved the video, didn't expect it to have this many funny bits I do have one nitpick though: MLP is a toyline, first and foremost. G1 didn't run from 1986 to 1992, its TV shows did. G2 wasn't just a point and click game, it happened to have a point and click game as its only digital media, etc
Glad you enjoyed it! ❤ You're right about it mainly being a toy line, I probably should have specifed the lifespans i was talking about was the digital media specifically, rather than media and toys. I'll keep it in mind!
Probably because since then, plenty bronies showed their darker side(rainbow dash Jar). And people thought;"lore, continuity and character development"aren't universal! Seriously, not only people start spreading misinformation because bias(Ben 10 was the first serialised cartoon),but makes them ignore the trailblazers like"Space Ghost"!
@@arrowpictures2844. First off, had good points like canadian voice actors and animation studios got some spotlight(Bahia Watson,Maitreyi Ramakrishnan,Jenna Warren). Feel the same way myself! For some twisted way their ambition was admirable despite the legal roadblocks, but f.i.m. was one those phenomenons that can't get replicated without the right place and time. Try like they might with the other hub network shows(yes they did have more than just mlp)like kaijudo, pound puppies, and littlest pet shop, the latter was blatant, but thick premise!
I'm watching the G3 series atm. So far it's girly af, but I feel a wave of nostalgia with G3 on a personal level as it's one I grew up with somewhat as my little sister watched it at the time.
I really liked it a lot growing up, even though it’s less content. It’s the generation that got me into the franchise and I guess I was a bit sad when it ended and gen 4 came along. But I enjoyed both generations. The ponies like Minty were my favorite characters along with Star Song and a couple others. I can understand why some people won’t enjoy it but simple stuff is fun to watch after long days.
i watched and loved every generation as a kid, they all should be viewed as different things in my eyes because they all have charm in their own ways. also the playsets that came from gen 3 are simply unmatched
It was a very minty christmas where I first found out about mlp. My grandmother would take us to goodwill or the salvation army to pick movies from the bin and I'm so glad I choose that. this series whether g1 or even g5 will aywas be near and dear to my heart
I've only watched Twinkle Wish Adventure, but it honestly looks like something me and my sister would've watched when we were kids. It's a cute, and quite comfy watch :)
I got into MLP from Gen 3. My little cousins had the ponies and I was like 12 and would play with them. And I ended up liking them too. Star Catcher was my favorite pony and was the main reason I loved Pegasi and made my oc a pegasi once I was in the fandom of Gen 4.
@@erikbihari3625Critics nowadays are overly elitist imo. There’s something good to enjoy in a bad movie/show even the most rage inducing shows like Teen Titans Go and present day SpongeBob could have memorable moments.
@arrowpictures2844 . The former have memorable moments, mostly for all the wrong reasons. Like that justice league talent show contest, where beast Boy becomes Cow And"Lactated"! And not kidding you, they literally dropped That type joke...
Pretty good analisys. Not a lot of people talk about gen 3. I remember watching it when I was younger, and it didn't remember it as bad as people always say. Good job! Keep going!
It’s really lovely to see some G3 content where people aren’t bashing it. One of the reasons I stayed away from G4 for such a long time was because of how nasty people were about G3. I understand it’s not for everyone, and quite frankly, I don’t expect most people to like it in comparison to G4! But so much of the hate I saw against G3 was blatant misogyny. G3 will always be my favorite simply because it’s the one I grew up with! Shows don’t need to be full of action and lore to be enjoyable in my opinion. It’s interesting to hear what people think of the art style, I’m of the minority opinion that I prefer the G3 style and I’m not particularly fond of the G4 style 😅. Pony style aside, the background art for G3 is absolutely beautiful and I wish more people recognized that. Anyways, lovely video, it’s refreshing to see someone give G3 the respect of having a proper analysis! And of course, who doesn’t love Minty lol
G3 was my introduction to MLP. I was appalled when I learned how much Bronies hated it, bc I loved both versions. For a while, I was a bitter toward MLP and MLP fans. Thankfully I got over it, and I still love both versions.
It’s important to note that’s everyone’s favourite Drama Queen and princess Tabitha St Germain voices Minty and other characters in G3. And they say great things begin somewhere! Long live Auntie Tabitha!
You're talking about the same fandom that criticised coloring books, dated the ponies, and put their figures inside jars for n.s.f.w. purposes. Wich why gender genre exist!
For me it's my favorite generation of My Little Pony. I don't consider myself a pegasister, because I'm not obsessed with any of the shows, but G3 was such a cozy thing for me to return to. Granted, I had no idea the cartoons existed until the internet. I grew up playing with the ponies as well as the books. If I had known it had a cartoon show I would've been just as obsessed as 1980's Carebears. (Despite me not being super into it and being more into the plushies themselves). G3 MLP NAILSSSSSSSSSSSSS girly, pink, and rainbow aesthetics! I appreciate how detailed the backgrounds are, all of the lively colors that are so satisfying to look at, and how cute everyone looks??? Yes, G4 nails expressions and the variety of wacky animation techniques, but G3 will also be the superior art style in my personal eyes. Do they all have the same body? Yes, but it never bothered me much. If it's one thing that kind of throws me off is I wish they introduced male ponies/characters and hadn't done G3.5 where everyone looks more like a chibi version of themselves. Also they changed G3 Rainbow Dash's voice actress for some reason after the first half of the entire series and that is not very ~darling~ of them at all. P: I hated it, she sounded less unique and just like everyone else. Also kind of like how _Bluey_ helps inner childhoods, G3 MLP does the same for me. I think it's over-hated and misunderstood on what it was trying to be even if I do agree I wish the writing was like G4's, I don't mind it for what it is.
Twinkle wish adventure gets bad rep, but gotta command them for trying something New, rather than just rehashing the Christmas Carol like later mlp. Hobbit?
@ Hasbro’s name is in the first few seconds. And this was before FiM which means there were no fans of the show yet, so no fan films, which means it is, in fact, official pony content. And that sickens me.
People are just cynical about things that are different. Also as the G3 slander happened mostly when the Brony fandom was new, so I think they were still figuring things reason for their obsessions with little girl content. Like they knew they were watching things for kids which made them feel weird around their peers, and that anxiety made them very cynical about anything that wasn't Generation 4.

I always thouight that G3 is not that bad. It's not as good as G4, obviously, but it can be genuinely a pretty good time if you know what to expect. No Newborn Cuties, Newborn Cuties were truly atrocious.
Honestly, people sometimes over inflate the show. Just the right show right time, when both sexes try the others gendered activites. But now, their darker side seen the light!
Honestly i liked g3.5 as well, it had potential if they had just done more with it. That said, in all honestly it looks kinda like a knock off of littlest pet shop :P
I JUST watched g3 4 the 1st time yesterday 4 Halloween with my friend. We watched a very minty xmas. I was shocked with how satisfying the sound effects & animation were. The voice acting was also peak perfection. I have a feeling g3 is probably the best gen 2 put on the background with ur friends. There’s enough 2 love & make fun of but also just get entertained by without feeling like u have 2 put all ur attention on.
I recently started watching g3 and it saddens me that I didn't give it a chance earlier. The character designs were my biggest push to watching it, they are so pretty! The style reminds me of the computer kids game Purble Place that I played as a kid. I don't think I could binge it all at once personally, I find it to be slower paced and overall sweet and innocent. There's a magic in watching this as an adult who's special interest since I was young are these colorful ponies. The toys are even better in my opinion! Most of the mini toy houses look delicious and sweet, i used to have a movie theatre that was shaped like a bag of popcorn! The brushable toys have this gimmick in the hooves with magnets that can open certain items it even operates machines in some playsets or works like the second generation of littlest pet shop with the magnet in the paw. I played through the ds games too and they were cute and super fun! Personally g4 wouldn't have been as good without g3. There were so many traits that g4 collected and I think that makes g3 even more special!
True. Ever since f.i.m., people expect girl shows having lore, continuity and character development. When not everything needs narrow boxes, nor insane genre mix!
Ditto, along with other shows. And you know what? Dora the explorer and her copycats could've revived the public service announcements from the eighties! Right?
I haven't watched this video or G3, but one thing I am aware of is that because people write off G3 because it's not as appealing to the eye as G4 and doesn't have as much real life relatable stuff and also a lot of badass stuff for a kids show and in general as G4 does, they have no idea just how much stuff in G3 is in G4 and how massively important this generation was to the INCREDIBLE lightning in a bottle that G4 is/was despite the fact that it definitely has more than it's share of glaring issues. Also it's very important because of how involved Ms. Rarity and Granny Smith herself Tabitha St. Germain was with G3 between voicing characters AND doing narrating for the show; and that most certainly her work in G3 aided her VERY well in everything she did for G4. Finally it's likely she would not have been the one to voice Rarity had it not been for her involvement in G3 because of the fact that she had that past/background with working on MLP before in addition to all the other voice work she had/has done in her past; and her being Rarity is VERY important because of the fact that there are so many moments that only fit Rarity's character with how she talks that just would not have been the same if someone else voiced her. Often times I see Rarity as an extension/overexaggeration of how Tabitha could actually be in real life. (I've heard the outtake of Tabitha messing up with line reading for Rarity and saying "fuck me hard." lol. Kinda surprised Hasbro let that get out in the ether and not C&D people for sharing on TH-cam and other sites lol.
The fact that I did see Gen 3 despite beign born in 2003, the year in which the show started and I was 6 when it ended in 2009, but for some reason I do think and remember vividly that little me had a DVD of Gen 3, I think it was a movie of Gen 3 directed to video? I watched about half of G3 and the only thing I found bad in this generation was that the ponies were so dumb, especially in the first episode with the birthday party
Honestly, i can appreciate G3 for what it is since that spesific generation was always meant to target to a more younger girl demograohic of being (cute with sunshine & rainbow), and it did what it did G5 however, yeah that's where i draw the line. The problem with that generation is that it try to be this sequel to G4 but often drop the ball really hard due to many contradiction that era made to Friendship is Magic and any attempt G5 try to tell an ovearching story it always held by that era half assed effort leading to flat & terreble writing decision that affect that generation as a whole.
This show, when I saw it for the first time, I wondered why some of the ponies seemed high. Especially Minty and Pinkie. The voice direction was... interesting. Still a nice show though. Thetheme song is the catchiest of the theme songs in my opinion.
I had a couple G2s when I was a kid (as well as some minis from mcdonalds and that specific PC game you referenced lmao, blast from the past!) but G3 was when I actually collected, though oddly, I never actually watched any of the media, probably because I never owned any of the ponies that came with DVDs? I did have a PC game from that gen (about, you guessed it, planning a party) and an annual. I'm not even sure what happened to my collection, they sat in a bag in the living room for a long time with the inention of being sold and then just.......... vanished into the aether one day 😂 I liked the style of G3, though, moreso than G4 tbh, I just find it more aesthetically pleasing than the super simplistic flash style and teeny tiny ponies, which I never collected, despite watching the first couple of seasons. I remember being kinda bugged out by G4 at first just bc of some of the character redesigns (Fluttershy was one of the first 2 G3s I bought, I vividly remember Rainbow Dash being a posh earth pony in the game AND I was??? I think misinformed by a quizilla quiz once about Applejack being male in earlier gens???) but they did grow on me in time Man, this takes me back tho, as a kid I spent HOURS on MLP fansites - I think there was a "top sites" directory I used to peruse up and down - and my username on Gaia back in the day was named after "Tipsy Tulip", one of the G2s I owned as a kid. Funnily, one of the sites (My Little Pony Playhouse iirc?) had the songs from the old 80s movie, but since I hadn't seen it and didn't properly know the characters I just sort of... made up my own random stuff to go along with the songs until I eventually got a DVD copy in my G3 phase (which i still have!)
@DaftPatchy Generation 2 only lasted 2-3 years in the United States. In Europe it took off, and lasted a total of 7 years from 1997 all the way until 2003. Although it didn't have a TV show, it had quite a few comics and ofcourse the pc game. It even had audio stories that are sadly, mostly lost in translation. :)
Ive always loved all generations. Few times I dropped them but certain characters brought me back to give it another chance, of the generations I almost lost interest in Mlp.
You rock❤
8:07 Whenever I watch a very Minty Christmas the way they do their backgrounds reminds me of Dora the Explorer, I used to watch it all the time so it makes me nostalgic.
Never thought about them this way. But makes sense, that show had copycats coming out the wazo! And know what?
A minty plush? I'm jealous!
@@DaftPatchy. Had the special VHS from family frost myself.
They’re not as… oddly squished & oddly proportioned? as g1
g2 basically doesn’t count, I think, but I do love their designs
g4… horse noses do not come to a point.
Loved the video, didn't expect it to have this many funny bits
I do have one nitpick though: MLP is a toyline, first and foremost. G1 didn't run from 1986 to 1992, its TV shows did. G2 wasn't just a point and click game, it happened to have a point and click game as its only digital media, etc
Glad you enjoyed it! ❤
You're right about it mainly being a toy line, I probably should have specifed the lifespans i was talking about was the digital media specifically, rather than media and toys.
@@DaftPatchy. Wasn't tales the second generation? The reason animated shows are made, for promoting the toys! Right?
It’s probably now for Nostalgia or G5 is “so bad” it makes G3 look good.
Now I don’t like G5 nor do I hate it but it’s sinply a disappointment for me.
So far it's girly af, but I feel a wave of nostalgia with G3 on a personal level as it's one I grew up with somewhat
as my little sister watched it at the time.
Generation Three is a peak comfort show. I am tired of pretending it's not.
Exactly tho!
@@DaftPatchy. Telly how good chap!
Many shows from back then was. Now, their lost! Wich sad quite honestly.
The home video era, wich unlike streaming had quality once the blue moon and nostalgia! You still have actual television?
i watched and loved every generation as a kid, they all should be viewed as different things in my eyes because they all have charm in their own ways. also the playsets that came from gen 3 are simply unmatched
Twinkle wish adventure still have the Best theme song(especially extended version)!
I’m a huge fan of MLP G3, All the details you mentioned are the entire reason I love it so much.
Someone compared the backgrounds with dora the explorer. And honestly, miss shows like that! You know;"wholesome fourth wall breaking"!
And the theme song, Best out the entire franchise! Length, lyrics, visuals, all rocks.
G3 isn’t that bad because it gave us Minty the sock pony.
I got into MLP from Gen 3. My little cousins had the ponies and I was like 12 and would play with them. And I ended up liking them too. Star Catcher was my favorite pony and was the main reason I loved Pegasi and made my oc a pegasi once I was in the fandom of Gen 4.
Maybe she served inspiration for celestia given their simular color scheme, and role(wise mentor)! Any thoughts?
Sanrio has simple and sweet stories and nobody seems to complain. Why can’t other shows?
It's not terrible by any means, but its solid as a slice of life cartoon gets with some fantasy elements in there.
Not really cartoon, just this franchise doing the home video formula. Wich beats streaming!
I partially blame Mr Enter for the hatedom towards G3 considering he reviewed all the G3 specials for his “Animated Atrocities” series
I fully blame Mr. Enter. I stopped calling myself a Brony over the G3 hate, and even started drawing G3 ponies just to spite him.

Good job! Keep going!
Yeah, for some reason shows without character development, continuity and lore are considered bad. What about variety?
Why are we always talking about how Rainbow used to be a girly girl? Yeah. Rarity used to be a tomboy. Nobody complains about that.
I love big stories, but sometimes we just need fun cutesy fantasy stories. Also I love MLP G3’s artstyle
It’s important to note that’s everyone’s favourite Drama Queen and princess Tabitha St Germain voices Minty and other characters in G3. And they say great things begin somewhere! Long live Auntie Tabitha!
And while f.i.m. was going, she pulled double duty with Pepper Mildred Clark!

I grew up with gen 3. bronies hating it because it's nothing like g4 and it's all slice of life is stupid and weird.
THANK YOU❤
Twinkle wish adventure gets bad rep, but gotta command them for trying something New, rather than just rehashing the Christmas Carol like later mlp. Hobbit?
I grew up with G3. Sure, it's pretty childish even by kid show standards but I do like the aesthetic of the ponies and their castle.
You remember dora the explorer? Kid shows like fosters already parodied with the copycats. But, could've brought back eighties p.s.a! Right?
G3 is pretty fine, JUST DON’T BRING UP NEWBORN CUTIES AND WE SHOULD BE HUNKY DORY!!!!
I still don't think that counts as official Pony content.
@ Hasbro’s name is in the first few seconds. And this was before FiM which means there were no fans of the show yet, so no fan films, which means it is, in fact, official pony content. And that sickens me.

I was introduced to MLP through G3. I think everyone was a bit too hard on it😢
People are just cynical about things that are different.

After gen 4 ended I've been intereste in looking back at the older gens. It's really neat

Lucky, just got VHS from family frost!

I watched about half of G3 and the only thing I found bad in this generation was that the ponies were so dumb, especially in the first episode with the birthday party
Honestly, i can appreciate G3 for what it is since that spesific generation was always meant to target to a more younger girl demograohic of being (cute with sunshine & rainbow), and it did what it did
G5 however, yeah that's where i draw the line.
I'm not even sure what happened to my collection, they sat in a bag in the living room for a long time with the inention of being sold and then just.......... vanished into the aether one day 😂
I liked the style of G3, though, moreso than G4 tbh, I just find it more aesthetically pleasing than the super simplistic flash style and teeny tiny ponies, which I never collected, despite watching the first couple of seasons. I remember being kinda bugged out by G4 at first just bc of some of the character redesigns (Fluttershy was one of the first 2 G3s I bought, I vividly remember Rainbow Dash being a posh earth pony in the game AND I was??? I think misinformed by a quizilla quiz once about Applejack being male in earlier gens???) but they did grow on me in time
Man, this takes me back tho, as a kid I spent HOURS on MLP fansites - I think there was a "top sites" directory I used to peruse up and down - and my username on Gaia back in the day was named after "Tipsy Tulip", one of the G2s I owned as a kid.
OH!!!! And I also used to read the webcomic Kimono's Townhouse, which was made using photography of G3 Kimono and Minty
Wow information treasure trove!
I think the most reviled gen was 3.5.
