I have been producing leather products for 58 years professionally. I avoided Shoe building and repair. That all changed When a cobbler friend of mine gave me his complete shoe store and machinery, as he was having health issues and wanted me to carry on the trade. i’m not a big TH-cam fan. I subscribed to your TH-cam channel because it is direct and informative and you are true to the Trade. Thank you sir…..Ozarks Leathersmith
Thanks! Feel free to hit us up if you need anything.
Where are you in the Ozarks? I’ve got some shoes & boots that need some work.
@@mjc6131. It’s the Ozarks. You’ll never find him unless he wants you to. 😊
My Grandfather had a suitcase manufacturing, & repair company "El Paso Trunk" in downtown El Paso, Texas, his best friend was Tony Lama the boot maker. I spent my summers with my grandfather learning at his shop. He taught me how to make suitcases by hand. We'd have lunch with Tony almost every day. A hotdog and a coke. I watched your video to the end, it brought back great memories. I could smell the leather as you were working! Very awesome result!
What a fantastic story. I’m glad we could take you back for a few moments! Thanks for sharing your story and watching!
My Grandfather worked at Tony lama boots. He was a boot maker for many years. Downtown El paso tx. Menny Herrera Jr.
Very possible your team would buy skins and leather from family we have in El Paso. Small world.
I am surprised Redwing doesn't offer something like this already. It looks so much better than their stock boot!
You have any idea how much this would raise their price point? Instead of 250-300 your looking at 4-500
@@drshin9893 perhaps! Would be a cool option to have though!
@@OfDeath I bet this guy charged about 200$ so you’re in the ballpark already
@@drshin9893 iron rangers are 350 now, so 550 or so with what this guy did. Cheaper than Nick's or other pnw boots but still not up to their quality either .
@@markdwolf3198the hipster boot bubble will burst soon
Cleanest cobbler "work station", on TH-cam. I can appreciate a cobbler with a "clean" work station. Lends credence to quality work. If a cobbler keeps his area organized and clean...then it is safe to assume...he does just as well with his cobbler work.
Some shops give me anxiety from the mess.
@@WyattDadCobblerCompany Messy work space = messy mind. Well done pair of IR's and very unique. Your recraft on mine is just fantastic as well. Functional artistry.
You resoled my Iron Rangers with the addition of a midsole and the perfect Vibram sole and they came out amazing. I wear them all the time and I'll be sending them back when they need another resole.
Awesome! We are happy to hear that you are enjoying them!
Thank you.
Your workmanship is great.
If more men in trades would work like you we'd have much better buildings, houses. Etc. Truly nice to watch your attention to detail and to hear the knowledge you give. Impressive.
Best looking Iron Ranger I’ve ever seen. Definitely gave it some PNW vibe. Amazing work.
I'm so unimpressed with my rangers now after seeing these. Master of your craft
You really made a lovely job of those.
Ohhhhhhhh. Heart breaking. Brand new shoes. I'll cry
I have been wearing boots a long time (26 years in the Army) and watching boot repair videos a while too, but I still learn something.
I'm jaw droppin right now! This video was the best step by step video I've seen. No fluff, just showing superb craftsmanship! Those boots are incredible! I would love to send you my Redwing 1907's when I get some funds saved up. I love that everything is done by hand. This is definitely the best work I've seen out of countless TH-cam videos that I've watched. Hopefully I'll be able to send you my babies sometime soon! Till then I'll will watch your videos and maybe drool on myself a little.
Thanks!!
Now, I want some! That is a wonderful boot.
Damn, that's a solid craftman. Excellent job. Love seeing a real man and American working hard making quality USA made equipment.
Wow " EchteEichenlohe Gruben Gerbung" is the best stuff we have here in Germany. Genuine handmade vegitable tanning since 1645. Tanning process takes about 1 1/2 years. Love your work!
Strong craftsmanship and skill on display. The close up shots are really well done and makes the audience feel as if they are in the shop watching in person! Kudos to your videographer! Commentary and explanation on your work is excellent, smooth and relaxed on each step of the process. This is one of the best videos I've ever seen on TH-cam. Great Work!
Thanks! That’s our goals.
I like the work you done with the boots can I ask for custom made ones form my hubby??@@WyattDadCobblerCompanyhello I like the work you done w the boots
@@clarivelgomez1092 my apologies for the delayed response. TH-cam doesn’t notify us about comments added to other comments. I just happened to be reading things and came across this. If you still have questions, please email us at wyattndad@gmail.com
Thanks
Tony Wyatt
That is a righteous boot. Well done.
i hope the customer paid a premium for all that craftsmanship.
Nice shoes
A pleasure watching your work... 🖐
For most of my life my focus was to try to keep a decent sole on my work boots, for all the obvious reasons. I'm older now, still working on the ranch for the day-to-day stuff, but the much harder work, well, I get a hand with that stuff, like fences, veterinary tasks, trailer loading livestock, stacking hay, etc. Seeing this video, I realized, why not have a pair of boots that look good, not just function? This video really got me to thinking. I appreciate that. Oh, the boots in the video? Wow! So nice. Thanks, Tony.
Thanks! I’m glad I was able to spark your imagination. Customization is a lot of fun!
whites has something like these converted iron rangers. we just pay the whole price up front instead of in two stages.
Hai Wyatt, you made a beautiful Job.👍 Greetz from the Netherlands 🇳🇱🇳🇱
Nice. Surprised myself and watched the entire video!
Excellent Workmanship !!! 👍😎
Guys I had purchased a pair of red wing rangers before I saw your videos eventually when my sole need replacing it’s going out to you guys great work most importantly made in America priceless
Your cork removal is top notch. I wish all cobblers had the attention to detail. I have sensitive feet, and I wouldn't have most of them resole my boots.
I personally experienced bad cork removal when I was young, and before my cobbler days. It made the boots miserable! I never want our customers to experience that.
Thanks
Tony Wyatt
very relaxing zen video...
Red Wing is a very strange company. Remember when they were down for about two years. Yes, Covid was a part of it, but I think they have management challenges. In reference to this video. Double thumbs up.
While nothing replaces hands-on training apprenticing with a teacher I reckon videos like this are a great supplementary tutorial lesson for apprentice cobblers / shoemakers and also serve as documentation of the craft.
So satisfying watching an artisan at work.
Everytime I watch you, I realize just how much I still don't know. Magnificent work. Thanks so much for the lesson
I wish I wasn't so old, I'd love to apprentice with one of you guys. The creative elements and the range of tools I've never seen before would be a hell of a learning experience.
Those are like works of art. Thank you for explaining as you go.
Now THIS is one good looking boot! WISH the factory would do this! Beautiful job Wyatt. Love it.
Nice job, those look great.
A true professional. Beautiful finished product.
An absolute masterpiece
Thank you Sir
Christoph
🤯Beautiful artwork! 💯🔥
You are a fantastic artist.
Bravissimo maestro! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🫡🍾
Well documented work.. now I just need to go back to the other videos to find out what glue you are referring to 🙂
We use Renia superfix as an all purpose cement and Renia CDC for dense rubber
fantastic work & look to these! "Glue don't stick where glue aint at" Thanks buddy!
Yup! You just convinced me to ship my boots in to you!
Fantastic workmanship on your part, and agreat vision on the clients part.
Tony those boots are sweet looking great job by the master cobbler
I'm watching your channel before going to bed. :)
Top quality work, absolutely beautiful!
wow. mastery.
I always liked the iron ranger but I have to say I really like them with a logger type sole! Thanks for your content.
Look way better than the original!!
Sr. it's been a pleasure watching you working...so satisfying...flawless handcrafting ...beautiful finish, congratulations!
beautiful work from the hands of a master
I love the video - it was a pleasure to watch you work and your voiceover is first rate. It's criminal that you had to do this job, though. Red Wing should do this themselves, and they absolutely should not be building defects into their boots. I hope they know about this and fix it immediately.
I have just discovered your channel. I love the Infocus close-up detail view that you’re giving us also your explanation of what you’re doing and why you’re doing it. Thank you.
Looks better than factory They should come that way from the factory outstanding work.
WOW!!!!!!! I LOVE these!!!!! Great job!!!
Hey, I haven't done this since I was a kid, but here we go... I'd like a pair of these boots for Christmas, 🙏🏽 thanks
Those are really nice. You Know your stuff. Enjoy the videos. Keep cranking them out.
The best IR conversion ever!!! You’re a wizard Tony!!!
Outstanding! I seldom make such enthusiastic comment. I am attempting to learn the craft. This video is the best I have seen. Thank you so much for posting such a clear and thorough documentation of this procedure. Camera angles, perspectives, and explanations are exceptional. I took the rare step of subscribing, and I look forward to watching more of your video.
Thanks! Good luck learning. If you need help, feel free to let us know. We post and answer a lot of questions on our Facebook page.
I appreciate we have operated a traditional leather shop for many years. I bought out a shoe shop in April of this year. We’re looking to rent shop space large enough to set everything up. I have several machines that I have no idea how to use. I’m learning procedures mostly on TH-cam, and yours is the best so far. I’m building myself a pair of shoes using Harry Rodgers’ book. I will certainly have questions, but I’m not really a FB user.
Was that an extra beefy mid-sole? Ach, probably just my eyes. Always enjoy watching the masters work, and really enjoy Tony's lessons while he's going. Beautiful result.
Thanks! It was the thick midsole. It’s almost a 1/4” thick.
It's the number of details that make the masterpiece.
It just blows my mind when watching the cobbler videos . that all those nails don't somehow find their way into peoples heals.
That’s why we use steel lasts. They clinch the nails to hold and not go further in also
Those look great...huge improvement
Great job!
Awesome work!
I love watching a skilled craftsman doing his work. These came out great! Although personally, I would have skipped the logger heel
VERY nicely done!
I really enjoyed your thorough explanation of everything you were doing. I will probably never resole a shoe but I like to be knowledgeable on the subject
Brilliant work
Excellent work as always.
Beautiful boots, quality craftsmanship really enjoyed this episode definitely getting a sub here. 👌🇬🇧
Beautiful job!!
Beautiful !!
Beautiful!
What an artist!
Looks great!
Really nice!
Wouldn't mind having a pair of these myself.
I love good craftsmanship! However, the Scottish in me flinched at taking apart a perfect pair of boots. I think id have waited until after some mikes were out on or converted another used pair.
I would buy these over the current configuration
looks great, thanks for sharing!
Another great job.
Looks fantastic
You guys do some excellent work!!
Excellent work.
