My nan use to tell me stories about staying there and how they would hear music playing and people downstairs having a ball and a big party laughter and chatter and then go down and it’s a completely empty ballroom. Her and I were driving passed the place at night once and she was talking about it when out of no where this big white sheet flew over our windshield and she had to make a stop and get one of my male cousins to get out and get it off as she was so freaked out.
Yes my 6 work colleagues and I stayed here in 2005. 2 of my work colleagues experienced what your nan did when they walked towards the ballroom in the DAYTIME and swore they heard a "busy function" in that particular room/area when they entered the room nothing but silence and this was in the daytime. Heaps of hard to explain things happen to us all but that one experience stood out
I went in around 2002,got such a weird feeling going up the stairs like walking in a different time zone... Never got to go round the back, we read their was a pool at the hotel but never found. Was spooky playing hide and seek at the hotel too lol
Stopped here in June 2017 and picked up more of a neglected rather than haunted vibe. The old part was built in 1908, the Art Deco part in 1928/29. It looks a bit less neglected in your video. It is great to see videos about haunted Kiwi places - keep it up.
Main 3 ghosts are an 1880s Maori princess, a young boy who died in the 1930s when a cauldron of hot water was spilled on him and a businessman who took his own life in the 1950s. There was also a portal in the ballroom (This was on a Haunted NZ programme).
My uncle stayed here...he did not experience anything but his friend did....he seen some figure like near the window...some old women...and even heard some sounds..he was terrified....plus they were staying in seperate rooms...later they came to know that this was haunted!!!😰😌😥
My sister and I have stayed there twice, the first time we experienced paranormal stuff, not so much the second time. A real shame it has closed as we would love to go back for another stay. I also have a photo of faces in that very top window. We were told it was vacant and locked at the time.
That's definitely a great video and worth a revisit mate 😁 my plans are to book a room do a day and a night walk around and sit on those chairs round the back 🙂🤫 love the architectural design 👍
I contacted the hotel back in July to find out when they would re-open, I was told that it wouldn't re-open until at least part way through next year as local tourism wasn't enough to sustain the business. I was absolutely gutted as I've been wanting to stay at that hotel, I've heard stories that it's one of the most actively haunted hotel in NZ. Fingers crossed it will eventually re-open.
@@TheForsakenExplorerNz In the meantime if you wanted to entertain yourself at a haunted hotel, there is the Chateau on Mt Ruapehu. The history of the place is fascinating, its little wonder the hotel is haunted. The hotel no longer allows guests to stay in the rooms that are reportedly haunted, but they sometimes let people look around.
Stayed at this beautiful old style motel back in 2005 with our work company. Yes I can confirm that the place was highly Spiritually active then as my 6 work colleagues and I all had "peculiar hard to explain in a logical manner" experiences and we stayed there for.about 2 weeks as we were renovating the Waitomo glow worms cave down the road. I have no doubts that it is still spiritually active today.
Kia ora this is our whanau trust hotel and it won't be opened for the foreseeable future unfortunately. It needs a lot of repairs sadly. It is currently unoccupied but have family staying in the back packers quarters at the rare of the property.
This place is beautiful. It looks very Victorian period. The grounds are lovely. It looks very well kept. Is it a working hotel? Good video. Thank you.
Sorry but they were pressed galvanized ones I touched them and the sharp edges with my hand, I also have them on my house so I know exactly what they are, but thank you for your comment 🙂
