    I was thinking or hoping, the black mass that attacked the Yu'vath in the warp was the last-ditch effort of the Inquisitor Psyker, his mind stuck in the warp.... seemed pretty fitting in my mind but, your's also made sense.

    • @MrGustavevil
      @MrGustavevil 4 ปีที่แล้ว +25

      This is my interpretation also. He put himself at risk with the momentary lapse in concentration it took to warn the Captain. The moment he did that he showed willingness to self-sacrifice to protect the astartes.
      I'm not sure if that'd actually be typical for an inquisitor, but it made me like this one.

    • @timnone2924
      @timnone2924 4 ปีที่แล้ว +25

      agreed, it makes sense as well cause the psykers aura while represented during the conversation between the orbs was black an smoky which is the same as the force that attacked the creature in the warp

      I was thinking it was the backlash of his fellow orb dying. Remember in E4 when the first gold faced faced pshyker dies there is a backlash that distrupts the second one holding the sergeant. Was thinking it was a more intense version of that.

    Dear ALL,
    Before you ROAST ME ALIVE I know that Syama D. Pedersen the creator of Astartes have said in an interview that his daemon/Xenos antagonists were all made up and had nothing to do with previous 40K imagery / races. However, think of it, when you were in school, analyzing poetry. One might have a different perspective on a piece, compared to the other person or, the "Canon". So forgive me please, this is my interpretation of the Story and despite the fact the the Xenos / Warp creature are not the Yu'Vath according to the creator, I hope you will still enjoy my take on Astartes Lore :)

    I appreciate your break down of this video series. I am now down in a Warhammer 40K lore hole and I keep going deeper and deeper. I just hope Hollywood keeps their filthy hands off this property and independent studios who stay true to the lore and fans can get some funding.

      I kinda want it to get popular, but i also know that if it does the corrupting power of Hollywood will absolutely ruin the franchise beyond all comprehension.
      Honestly, just give the Astartes creator a bunch of money and a team of both technically competent animators, vfx artists and a team of lore nuts for plot accuracy and have it be all CGI and youre fucking golden. Srsly.
      Oh, and have the composer for The Lord Inquisitor ost. I dont think theres any piece of 40k music that perfectly captures the zealous glory of the imperium quite like the main theme for that short. Its fucking glorious.

    I think the "sphere" in the background was an empty sphere being prepared to imprison the second one that the kill team was assaulting. I think this because it wasn't lit up like the one being monitored by the Inquisition.

    • @KillTeamHungary
      @KillTeamHungary  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      definitely. If you watch closely as the sphere hooked up to the Inquisitor takes over him, the machines attached to the sphere go dark. So the entity in no longer in the sphere just like to one in the background. Did they kill it before hand, or perhaps another inquisitor shared the same fate beforehand?

    Here's a small update. My interpretation of Orb1: "The Astartes deny our touch."
    2.15 seems Orb2 "wakes up" with a tiny flicker, then energy pulse.
    2:24 "touch" 1, slight whispering. 2:25 slowed almost stopped. 2:26 heads through, resisted.
    2:29 "Astartes" 2:31 touch 2, stronger wave. 2:32 stops them (can see its blue edge sweep over SMs, just like with psyker bros). 2:33 heads through, resisted.
    2:35 touch 3, whispering, even stronger pulse, stops and recoils SMs slightly. 2:38 has to make some effort, determination, but heads through, resisted.
    2:40 desperation, mustering all power, charging up...
    2:42 touch 4, majorly strong pulse, knocks and pushes back, distorts vision, unbalances. 2:50 has to make great effort, serious determination, but manages to head through, resisted.
    Touches were increased gradually, from a tiny touch that an unshielded regular human could've taken, to full power where SMs had a hard time standing ground.

      And after the last attempt the marines walk up to the Sphere and as Sgt. Kohren stares at it, turn up the volume, you can hear his heavy breathing...the struggle resisting the attack. The creator even payed attention to that. Perfection

    My interpretation of the Marine commander signaling to his guard is that he's simply telling him to seal the room to prevent the spread of an (perceived) imminent Warp intrusion (taking the burden of repelling it with his lieutenant) and possibly ask the guard to tell the main ship to detach from their now Warp-contaminated room.
    I also think that the commander doesn't warn the squad with the other sphere of any danger; rather they are left to continue their mission on their own initiative.
    Of course, I don't have proof for either of these theories, but it's my take at it :)

    It's really awesome, that you answer all your comments. I hope you read this as well, as I hope you might help me out a little.
    I tried really hard to understand all the spoken things in part 5, but didn't quite catch everything.
    Maybe you can fill some gaps or draw some new information out of it.
    So far I got this:
    (The first pulse of the orb (2:17) might hide a word, but I probably read to much into that "woosh". But sounds like hello, lol.
    The deep rumbling noise (2:20) is probably unintelligible vox-coms, and the faint, high pitched whisper(2:24) might only be atmospheric. I couldn't hear any word in that sounds... )
    2:28
    "Astartes!
    Go back.
    This is a warning.
    "
    (right before the flashing pulse:
    "STOP!"
    but that probably means, there are words in the three flashes before aswell... maybe just some incantation, or, well, just sound effects?)
    The whispers from the orb after the probes/knives got stung into it seem unintelligible, but not quite.
    We can hear a "no" and "ah".
    (I like to imagine it slowly whispers "you will pay" at 3:22.
    Really boggling, because there seem to be two pitches of the orbs voice...)
    The first whisper of the chained orb seems to mean something too, but i can't understand it (3:53). It sounds like "get inside" but that doesn't make any sense...
    Then the conversation between the orbs, you already know, 4:03;
    1:"Who is there? (or "doom is near/here" or maybe a name? Lucifer?)
    I have failed."
    2:"Brother, we have all failed."
    1:"The Astartes deny our touch. We must return. Break your shield"
    2:"We must not. We'll never survive. We must... take them"
    Right after, the Inquistor voxes:
    (muffled)
    (4:26) "Recall them immediately!"
    Then the orb speaks to the inquisitor, something I hardly understand again. Maybe along the lines (4:43) "You/we must protect it"

    After the orb short-circuits the cogitator, the bird-helmeted SM voxes:
    (4:42)"Brother, is he okay?"
    I can't quite understand the response from the captain.
    My guess is:
    (4:44)"Inquisitor,
    (4:46) can you explain that core?"
    From 4:48, I assume it is the Inquisitors voice (although sounding really different than before)
    His words are waaaay too muffled now. And the overlapping, probably demonic, voice is too confusing for me.
    (After listening really hard again, and with a lot of guessing: "They've spotted me and / It's calling me and"... cut to demonic voice. Aproxximation: (4:51) "NEEWO DJINCORD CORDES HARE" )
    The last vox-com at 5:06 probably is: "We should return to the ship" or "Incoming Message"
    And I guess the orb then shouts "It's time". (definitely the same voice from the dark-vision the inquisitor had. So might be non-english. Sounds way to much like japanese "kudasai")
    I would love to hear your opinion on this. All this kept me awake some nights already...
    Also, many thanks for your video! (It really made me fall into a rabbit hole, hahah)

    The skeletons on their thrones are roughly the same size as the golden construct, and the shoulder-headdress they all have, are vaguely similar to the brief vision we get of the alien before pulling the marines into its sphere. I think they ended up at the xenos homeworld or some kind of tomb-world.

    • @KillTeamHungary
      @KillTeamHungary  4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Question: If the humans knew they were about to deal with a Yu'Vath (most likely), then how come they sent these marines? Why didn't the Inquisition order a squad of Grey Knights to infiltrate the enemy starship ? Of course that wouldn't have made such a spectacular short film, but at the same time this decision feels... wrong.

    • @KillTeamHungary
      @KillTeamHungary  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Remember the siege of Vraks?
      Grey Knights were very reluctant to appear even when the word was turning into a Daemon Spring Break festival.

    In my opinion, I think you are right. The one thing that irks me is how will the imperium deal with the Yu'vath? I enjoy the 40K universe and while I haven't really done any serious lore reading I do watch other content creators like your self about the universe and its lore. As much as I love the brutality of the Imperium it makes me frustrated that they destroyed information on a race this potentially powerful because knowledge of it was heretical. And now they have to deal with this with very little information, most likely residing in second-hand accounts at best as to what the Yu'vath are and their capabilities. I'm sure that they won't, but if they do learn anything from this encounter that it is they need to collect all information they can on their enemies and other races, dead or alive. Now they will have to deal with a race of Xenos similar to the Tau, where if they leave them alone the only thing they will do is get stronger. Not to mention that the Yu'vath will indefinitely acquisition the Tau and then you have to deal with an enemy that is controlling another enemy who already has a foothold on people, resources, tech, etc.

    • @KillTeamHungary
      @KillTeamHungary  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good points!
      The former Yu'Vath controlled region was the Segmentum Obscurus and the Tau reside in the Ultima Segmentum, chances are slim to none that they will come across a Yu'Vath artefact and have their minds controlled. Moreover, since they mostly operate with drone tech the AI of those are pretty much unaffected by psychic influnce, so I think the Tau is safe. Not to mention that the Tau, at least the core species are not really present in the warp, they dont have that kind of potential.
      The Yu'Vath is all but extinct, but who knows...maybe I will write up a short Story about this :)

    So are there 3 orbs in this series or only 2? I see people saying one of the orbs hanging is the one they captured in the vault. Is the inquisitor seeing what happened to the marines on the transport in the past and perhaps sacrificed himself to break them out of the warp?

    • @KillTeamHungary

      There were 3 orbs, 2 on the Inquisitorial ship (2nd in the background, dead).

    Is it just me or does the Sargent have his combat blade on the right side after killing the psycher, and then on the left after arriving to the planet? I might be mixing up the characters in the scene where they sheath their blades, because one has it on the left and one on the right, but it seems like the one in the foreground loom above the corpse with a missing, not severed, spine. I realize I might be mistaken, or I will come across as a nitpicking prick for pointing it out... Just to clarify: personally I don’t think it detracts from the awesomeness one bit - just a curiosity. Besides, the blades are mag locked so he could have switched it up.
