Hello Luke, met you at the Stitchdown bootcamp and brought a pair of backcountry boots. I have to say that it was a very nice experience trying on the backcountry boot for the first time (it was my first time trying on a Russel Moccasin). It was the most comfortable boot I ever put on, I could actually fall asleep without taking them off. I can't wait until they arrive, they are going to become my go to casual boot for hanging out as well as hiking around. More people need to try on these boots, it will make people believers. Great job.
Yep I’m definitely getting a pair of those. I started my hand made boot journey with Nick’s which led me to Rose Anvil which led me here. After owning and wearing hand made leather boots I will never own anything else. The comfort, quality and craftsmanship can be felt.
Love my thula moccasin shoes. These are my summer shoes and have lasted over 14 years now. Have had them resoled once. The Newporter sole is my favorite!
I love my Russell Moccasins. I have the classic Joe's PH (pre owner change) and the new Safari. I hope to be fitted in person someday for that totally custom feel.
Very useful, and very cool to see up close how these unique boots are put together. it's extraordinary how advanced they were from the early day of manufacture, and also ho unique the techniques have remained. I supposed there is no was to industrialise these construction techniques, one of the reasons (besides patents?) that they were not more widely copied.
from my understanding, the "molded sole" is a layer of poron, which is synthetic. I've always heard that synthetics are to be avoided in heritage footwear as it will inevitably break down. how is this taken into account when considering the longevity of those boots?
@@w.c.russellmoccasinco thank you for the response. my misunderstanding on the "molded sole." however, the double vamp molded sole model does shoes a "poron slip sole" sandwhiched inside, so the same question applies to that one.
I just ordered a pair of-based on a TH-cam review from yesterday. I hope I’m making the right choice because I’m seeing a lot of disappointed customers out on the reviews.

Great presentation. Informative , concise and just enough dramatic flair with the use of an axe. Again, well done !
Thanks!!

Amazing content. Looking forward to seeing the cut into half version by rose anvil too. thanks luke!
it would be great to see a video that highlights the differences between the leathers offered and their use cases!

Amazing. I would watch this every night. I definitely want a pair of triple vamp boots!
My Russell Boots are my most-comfortable pair of footwear! Thank you Bill Fabricius!
And one of my favorite smells...the Russell Shop!

Very informative. I appreciate the breakdown. I was thinking what would you have done if you missed with the axe.
You and me both. Just glad I didn't!

I hope to get some Oneida classics later this year.
Can I get that hatchet at the local Fleet Farm?
That is one sharp hatchet! What type of construction would you say my pair of Russell Mohican Stalkers uses (from 2008)?

The Molded Sole is not synthetic. Its an extra leather layer.

One day I will have a pair.
hello
I have a vintage pair of backcountry double vamp boots,.. it has a blue label, I believe they are from the 1970's,
could you confirm?

The axe is much better touch than a bandsaw
