Wax moth are the cleanup crew. If there is any sort of sickness in the comb due to eggs or larvae left behind or some other cause the wax moth move in and clean that up. This is why you don't see them in every frame of comb. I only ever recall seeing them in brood comb from dead outs and comb that has come from someone else in a nuc, which tells me there was something unhealthy in those frames of foundation.
Hey Adam! Im not in a tight for space so I leave plenty of room so I can work the hive from either side and have the sun to my back when inspecting for better viewing. I also have at least one place in the spacing big enough to get my riding mower through. When I cut behind the hives I come in between 2 hives and zoom on behind them and then get out of there before they get testy.
