@14:10 Very wise advice, I pulled the sump off my 2JZ to tidy up some of the 'work' the previous owner had done.. looked like he'd used 10 tubes of 3bond to glue the sump and turbo oil drain on. Found he'd also used it on the oil pump pickup, orifice would have been half the size thanks to all the excess inside the pipe, also found big chucks of it lodged in the oil filter feed.. Very glad I checked.

      Hilarious, I'm sure.
I don't like cylinder heads to look like they've been serviced on the outside, I used to request that they not sand blast the outer surfaces. Also had them install large diameter valve seats and then knock out the guides, but then give the head back like that for me to port it, later then obviously finishing off the job.
All no problem for MCH 👍
But yeah, definitely ask them about the Tutus...

  • @wackowacko8931

To fix the bent valve issue - leave the valve seals off of the exhaust side. Because the exhaust is always under pressure, the exhaust gases inside the exhaust port are always trying to push oil up and out of the exhaust guide, so if you leave the seal off, more oil will get down the guide and lubricate the guide better without causing smoking issues. It doesn't increase oil consumption or smoke, it makes the guides last a lot longer, and also reduces the tendency towards bent valves on the exhaust. An old machine shop guy told me that trick many years ago, I've used it a number of times. You can't do that on the intakes though, because the intake ports are always under vacuum, so it draws oil into the intake causing excessive smoking. Instead, convert the intake valves to an umbrella type seal, this will oil the valve guide better than the more modern seals do without going overboard. This only works for engines that don't have a super high emissions specification to meet, so you use it on "grandfathered" older cars. And of course, change the oil more often to reduce the amount of water in the oil.
