UPDATE: I made a Dead Girl Walking Mashup :) th-cam.com/video/54lWO-Rydjc/w-d-xo.html Hello! Editing this video was so much fun, so I really want to do another one :D Is there a particular theatre song you would like me to mashup different versions?
This is my new favorite video! You're out here doing god's work. I would love if you did Freeze Your Brain, Dead Girl Walking, Seventeen, DGW (Reprise), I'm Damaged, and Our Love is God. Is there a theme to my suggestions? Hahaha! No but seriously, Freeze Your Brain and DGW would be awesome!
ryan's jd is a calm psycho until he reaches his breaking point while jamie's jd is more in the insane psycho side because you can hear the difference in the singing style. ryan's is more soft and ballad-ish but jamie's is more like if a drunk murderer is singing outside your house (idk how to describe it)
I've noticed Ryan seems so play him a bit stiffer but I think that's just how it appears next to Jamie’s edition. Ryan leans more to the insanity and Jamie’s tends to feel more human to me. Either way in love both of their performances, it could just be that I prefer singing with more growl to it honestly but Jamie also does the thing with combining accents and tries to convey the abused part of him a bit more. I probably have more to say on this but every though I had just left :)
I think my favourite thing about this mashup is how it shows the differences between how the two actors portray JD. One is still furious, just trying to worm his way back into Veronica's life even if he has to put on a mask of forgiveness. The other has forgiven her in the face of a better target, his feelings of betrayal truly redirected. Also it's just a *really* tidy mashup of the two versions! Lovely work!
I don't like personally the west end version from the musical Heathers, but i gotta admit that i love Jamie's version more than Ryan's. Even so, i think they both played amazing!
TLDR: I love both actors' renditions of JD, but I prefer Ryan's vocals and Jamie's acting. I think I like Ryan's voice more, but Jaime's acting more. I think Ryan's JD is a bit more "appealing" (nothing wrong with that, he just plays him as pretty collected for a good while), and Jamie plays him as a bit more of "sympathetic" character, where you can tell he's been through something bad from the get go. I love both performances; they're each uniquely entertaining and impressive! However, I usually gravitate towards realism > spectacle in acting, so Jamie wins me over there. To me, his performance of JD feels closer a real, albeit genuinely insane and grieving teenager. Ryan wins me over with vocals, though - he packs a bit more power on many important lines (having a slightly lower vocal range, I believe?), and his "sound" often meshes more easily with the musical style of the soundtrack, in my opinion. Jamie by no means sounds "bad", but the difference between their vocal styles is noticeable. Both have their own versions of the JD "charm" on FULL lock, and I appreciate the contrast between them, so these are just some thoughts! I'm also eternally in awe of both these actors' skills. What do you guys think? Also, I will never pick a favorite Veronica, because I'm gay
Tru but imagine how hard it is to sing genuinely with fear of messing up in front of a crowd. Like in the recording there's no pressure, if you mess up you can just retry. I think Jamie still did great on his performance though considering how much pressure is there while on stage singing one of the most intense songs in the musical.
this sounds like 2 guys fighting over a girl but then they look at eachother like "why not share her? " so they get together and build a bomb and try to win her over to the both of them while secretly still hating eachother and hoping she chooses one of them but then they look and see she k!lled herself and then her mom comes up and they both go "SHIT ILL SEE YOU TOMORROW" and climb out the window together
Disagree with me if you want, but RYAN. WAS. BETTER. Yes, both are incredibly talented, I am not throwing any shade on Jamie, but I feel like Ryan fits the role of JD better. Mainly because Jamie was more on the mad side rather than psycho, but Ryan had just the right amount of both. Love both of them so much, but I just feel like Ryan was a bit better :)
While I love Ryan slowly becoming more insane and psychotic with his voice having more fluctuation, I prefer Jamie's actual singing. His perfect growls and voice cracks make me in love with his portrayal of JD. Ryan does JD's soft side better though. In conclusion, Ryan sounds more manipulative and seems to take JD's soft side more seriously. Jamie's JD sounds more desperate to get Veronica back and can't hide his insanity as well. (I'm always going to be biased and like Jamie's version more cuz i saw the west end musical before the off-broadway heheh)
Still absolutely r*tarded how the majority of the Heathers Musical fanbase thinks the West End is worse. West End is INFINITELY better. Jamie is the best JD, no contest.

@@Filayevna Thank you so much! I'll start with your suggestions :D And at some point I'm definitely going to do it with all Heather songs ;)

Jamie’s is more of someone who has completely lost it. He shows too much emotion to be a psychopath
I love that it’s almost like they’re both jd at the same time but split personality’s
Yeah
My brain tells me that Ryan is the Jason while Jamie is the Dean
omg yes - I wish I could favourite comments this is amazing
Whilst I do prefer Ryan's J.D., I can't deny that Jamie plays J.D. absolutely incredibly! Both great voices too :)
Yeah
*Ramie MuscCartan is my new favorite musical actor*
MINE TOO😭

I prefer Ryan’s JD, but Jamie’s JD is definitely better like emotionally
All I imagine is a pair of twins who became obsessed with Veronica
How umm does dead girl walking work then …….. 😦😳

Both of the J.D.'s voices are similar that it's hard to separate lol
This is absolutely incredible. Especially with the contrasting depth of instrumental and the slightly different tempo, you merged it perfectly!
There both so good but I can’t deny my love for Ryan
This but the bridge from west end
I think I broke my repeat button… love how smooth this mashup is!!
I've never loved anything as much as I love this. Two amazing singers and actors, just love
Oh god threre's TWO OF THEM NOW?!
(also really cool omg)
Quaking too lmao

Love it, both get their best parts of the song
Amazing! The whole recording and orchestration from West End is better though which adds to the effect
i love ryan

2:07 My favorite part
My name is Jamie and im reading these comments to humble myself👍🏼
Editing is amazing, just a shame that Jamie’s recording is nowhere near as good as the live performance.😅

This editing is so good!

OMG.... I LUV THIS!!!
I love this so much, I always listen to one song then the other cos I luv em both sm, but omg this is just perfect
jamie supremacy
Don't nobody say they weren’t both made to play J.D.! The track for WE sounds better but they are are both perfect.
2:51 it seems that Jamie's is laughing, Ryan's does sound devastated
Ryan and Jamie both are my favourite portrayals of J.D ever
For me Jamie is the best! Jamie is better, sings with more emotion!
3:13 perfect harmony fr
Inside you, there are two JDs.
This is my favorite song to jam out to

Some of the other songs in the musical are better off broadway than west end but this is one of the few that is definitely better than off broadway

I hate Jamie’s American accent it really gives me the ick and idk why ! Ryan is my favourite out of the two !
Jamie ❤

Jamie's Muscato version of Meant to be Yours is the best tho
I like them both, but Jamie is a bit too.... zany for me lol
