Your AirBnB apartment wasn't in a block built in communism. Those buildings are more than or at least close to hundred years old. Usually built even before world war one, pre-communist era. These buildings had big apartments, one to four per floor. If you look closer you would find small servant entrances in the corridors. When communist came, they chased away the "bourgeois", divided these apartments into 16-20 per floor and gave to the blue-collar working class. These buildings are so strong in fact, they suvived multiple wars, bombings even. Of course there are many-many communist building blocks, but not in dowmtown.
Hello David, we met in train to Krakow. I wrote you email. Maybe it can interest you :-) Thank you for nice conversation and happy travelling in eastern Europe ;-)
You have found the best places, great video. What the old man was trying to say, I couldn't figure out either. The woman at the toilet is very typical "old generation", she spoke slowly in Hungarian so you can understand - you will not, but that's the idea. She said you could buy tokens - she said "coupons", probably some plastic coins - for the toilet in the restaurant.
A long walk on the banks, the Gellért hill, the castle district in good weather - the best use of time in Budapest, I agree. Margit island is also worth a day: endless fields, giant trees, great fast-food (called "lángos"), a few interesting places and 4-wheeled bicycle cars. Another good place is the "Városliget" - another giant park with countless venues like a bath, a large zoo, circus, museums, etc.
The city center is dirty as fuck as in most big cities, the smell of piss is everywhere especially where nightlife is and are lots of hobos, other than that it's quite clean in the other parts and really safe.
Welcome to Hungary, David, Nati! I'm glad you visited my country! PS.: the lady in the toilet said use the machine to pay or go to the restaurant, pay and you get a "ticket" for the toilet.
I can confimr that. By the way the lady used a word what you could recognise: Coupon ;) I don't know the place but probably you can use the toilet for free if you buy anything in the restaurant.
Welcome to Europe. Nice to have you in a better time zone for me. I am in England. Colombia for me is 6 hours ahead. I hope you have a nice time in Europe. I am still with my Colombian girlfriend. Its not been easy going with her. Thank you for the video.
Super terrific even though you have been to Budapest before I'm sure there are a lot of cats that follow you haven't been there. It looked very clean and the care given for walking biking and site seeing is well designed. Thanks David and Nati
Dear David, I really liked your video, you are a refreshingly positive person!.Let me help you a bit:at 13.10 you mentioned a church having been turned into a restaurant. Though it looks a bit "church-is" was actually a small palace built about 150 years ago to cover up a pump-house which pumped up water to the castle. It was designed by the same architect, Ybl Miklós who designed the Opera House as well.
I love Latin America but it's definitely amazing to visit countries and have no worries about safety. Want to walk at night cool, want to explore the whole country cool, want to take a few risks with people cool you might get scammed but you wont die.
I remember walking back to my hotel in Launceston around 9:00 or 10:00 p.m. at night. Tasmania is not known for being a place with crime. I saw some teenage punks in a parking lot causing ruckus. I had to walk around the other direction to avoid them, feeling pretty confident if I had gotten close to them there would have been trouble. On the other hand, in Malta, I walked around at 10:00 p.m. at night through some dark deserted alleys and nobody bothered me. Malta is incredibly urban, and if you're trying to get to your destination as quickly as possible on foot, you won't want to walk the main roads all the time. If you plan to accomplish anything in life, you have to take some risks, and sometimes the dice will roll in your favor, and sometimes not. I didn't have any trouble in Colombia, but I played that game with extra precautions
well, it depends where you eat... if you go to less tourist centric portion of the capitol, then you can get it down to $2-$3 for a coffe and $3-5 for a good packed sandwich...
David, I'm *_VERY_* glad to see new content on your channel! Es un placer ver a tu bella dama contigo frente a la cámara. I'm looking forward to seeing more of Medellin through your lens.
you're walking on my morning walk up to Citadella 😊 BTW, the fences aren't always there, there's construction. When open there's a langos truck and a place that sells beer. Really sucks the fences are up though. good choice on Frici Papa (free-tsee)
Isn't that just how it goes when you travel internationally. If it can go wrong, it will. Key wasn't gone at noon, no, it had to be 1:30 am, at night. It's like a video game, you just keep at it and navigate the rapids, and like Dave, you get better and better at it
Lovely video. I enjoyed your sequence of scenes. Every third one, you start talking. The video quality is better because of the proper timing distribution throughout the video.
Love Budapest. I lived in Hungary in a small town to the east for about 2 years. Hungarian food is amazing! I'm not sure why the liberty statue is closed off now. You used to be able to get food and beer there and walk along the area ans have a nice view of the city
Excellent video!!! LISS(low intensity steady state)cardio is the best to lose fat. High-level cardio like jogging targets what you have eaten/glucose/carbohydrates for energy. Walking targets fat for energy. I really love how you are filming with your new camera, y tu mujer es muy hermosa🤭

hello David. I came back from Bogota from Colombia 3 weeks ago. It was wonderful there. I see that you are now in Budapest, Hungary. If you have time, you must see Prague, the Czech Republic. Prague is the most beautiful city in Europe. I lived there until I was 23 years old. .then I went to Florida.
Actually you understood correctly, the lady said you need to go the the restaurant and you can purchase the ticket for the toilet. You did the worst thing possible, took out money from those ATM's that are a scam :)
Great video David. Really enjoyed seeing it and your beautiful girlfriend. Thanks for that. Damn bro, you’ve packed on the pounds. Keep walking and walking.
Haha David great video. The same thing with the empty lockbox happened to me once in Budapest. I phoned the owner in the early hours and luckily the key was misplaced in a different lockbox that was luckily nearby. Budapest a great city, I go very often and all your observations are correct - low pollution, very walkable, lots of bike lanes and the locals and very fit. Junkfood never took off in these countries like it did in the 'Anglosphere'. Greetings from London!
The lady in the toilet actually said go to the restaurant and there you can pay for the toilet by card, then show her the receipt and she let you in to the toilet 😅
I did the same thing 20 years ago, traveling to Budapest. It was wild back then, and lmao no smartphone, just an ATM card in my pocket. How the he’ll I’m still alive, idk
3:20 This system is called Gang. It comes from the German name gang/corridor. This is approximately the architectural style before the First World War. Communism may come to mind because such buildings were featured in the films of the era set in Budapest. But at most, the communists got as far as repairing the war damage. Just enough to make the building livable. Therefore, there were bullet marks on the outer walls of the houses in many places. The gunshot marks from 1956 were added to these. Hungarian communist apartment architecture is characterized by 5-10-floor buildings built from concrete elements. This is called a panel building. The 10-floor buildings are always high-rise buildings, installed in groups. The name of the group is a lakótelep (housing estate). Practically every major city has at least one of them. They tried to solve the housing shortage in this way. The Hungarian version of the German Friedrich is Frigyes. The nicknamed form of this is Frici. It is pronounced roughly: Fritsi. Most of the city (or at least the more beautiful buildings) were built during the Austro-Hungarian empire.
