  • Located in Budapest the capital of Hungary. I will be trying traditional Hungarian food in a restaurant. As some of my audience may already know when I visit any restaurant I like to get a feel of the atmosphere also try the traditional food, most of the time in a random location outside of the bigger towns or cities but in this video I happen to go for a change and go for a experience in the heart of Budapest in the city which is a known place for attractions and tourism. The plan was to eat Hungarian traditional food in the city. While I was at the restaurant a customer had recommended me to get traditional Hungarian Goulash soup and I ordered a dreher. Also while I was at the restaurant I came across customers that said they were from Italy and had a interest in what kind of content I was creating. Join me and see what traditional Hungarian food is all about the atmosphere and the beer.

    3:53 Even if I personally feel cringe if somebody is telling me things without asking (although you had a conversation before that) the guy next to your table won the day.
    Most of the hungarian restaurants bringing stew as goulash because "yeah they are foreigners, whatever".
    Goulash (gulyás) is a soup, indeed, he was 100% right and I'm happy that somebody made this clear.
    Goulash as "main dish" is not goulash, but a stew which can be made from pork, beef or chicken.
    Chicken stew and chicken paprika is almost the same, but "chicken paprika" contains sour cream.
    Beef stew (which presented as "goulash main dish") is the best with boiled potatoes or "juhtúrós sztrapacska" which is a kind of noodle - similar to "nokedli" or "galuska" - with a hint of cottage cheese.
    All of these above worth a try in my opinion. :)
    PS: Expert level of stew is "pacal" which is also a stew technically, made from beef stomach which sounds ugly AF but it's awesome.

      Wait until you see the video where André wanted to try the lángos, and got a plain one with garlic. Then he saw another guy was having it with sour cream and cheese so he went back to have the same, and the woman put only cheese on it...
      Cmon Hungarian people in gastronomy, if you see a foreign people goes to you be proactive. This is your chance the show the truly amazing Hungarian food. Plain lángos wtf.... And it should go without saying that if someone asks for gulyás they mean the soup unless they say they want the stew.

      @@ww1www Igen, értem, és egyet is értek. A lángos leghagyományosabban fogyasztott formája a sima fokhagymás változat.

      Goulash, Gulyás called Gulaş in Turkish and "aş" means dish or food in Turkish maybe it also has a similar meaning in Hungarian. Maybe the meaning is shepherd's dish.

    Yeah. For example: If you want to taste fish soup, Baja and Szeged are the best cities. The traditional fish soup of the two cities are the best. The two are different, and many people are arguing which one is the best, here in Hungary. But in my opinion, where you live, you may like the one you used to it. Where i live i like the bajai one, but this is just my opinion and my tast.
    But also a hungarian traditional food is pacal. It is also a stew most often, but you can eat it with bread. Very unique and tasty.

    As a former server, if I had alot of tables I would sometimes forget a beer. If the bar hasnt poured it by the time the food comes out the beer waits. If a patron was having a problem ordering in an effort to keep all my other tables happy I would have to make them wait. Possible the server is not using his time well but I wouldnt take offense. Serving tables can be a very hard job, I did it in my early twenties and I cant imagine being an old man like that managing alot of tables.

    I have one traveler advice for you: You should never get food in Capital cities or big tourist cities, if you want a real traditional expirience. I learned that lesson in Italy, where I had worse pizza in Rome, than I can buy in my home country Slovakia. Many big tourist cities don´t know, how to make traditional food from a certain regions and since they are trying to appeal to the foreigner tourist - many times, they won´t do food the traditional way, cause people from other countries might not like it, as home people. I recommand to go to the small towns, villages and certain regions, that are famous for a certain dishes, if you want a real "authentic traditional expirience".

    Restaurants over Hungary, usually the good ones, are making food in fresh. Therefore, you have to wait longer usually. Gulyas is SOUP, but there is a westerner version stew called Pörkölt, because westerner people don't know soups in general. Hungarian food in general is a very filling food.

  • @bear544
    @bear544 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Yes, our goulash is a thick, hearty soup that we make from the stew left over from the previous cooking, or we make it fresh. We eat two types of goulash: a plain goulash made of pork or beef, which is filled with meat, vegetables, and half of the dough, which we call pinches, and the other is bean goulash, which is made in the same way, with lots of meat, vegetables, beans, and pinches. Welcom from Hungary

    theres a food translation problem between Czech and Magyars... in Czech we cook goulash which is a (preferably) beef stew and we eat it with knedlíky... but what is called goulash in Czech is called perkelt in Hungary. Goulash in Hungary is what you got. The point of original magyar goulash is that it has no flour in it (therefore soup) - the dish is made only of ingredients that magyar cow herders had with them when they spent a week out in the wilderness herding cows... meat, water, spices, some potatoes and vegetables. these cow herders are called goujash in hungarian... therefore the name of the dish :)

    • @AlexAlex-zv7fc
      @AlexAlex-zv7fc ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Correct. That's why you shouldn't put pork in the goulash soup, since the goulash feeds cattle and not pigs. The stew can be made from pork, beef or chicken.

    • @zbynekurbanek3345
      @zbynekurbanek3345 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@AlexAlex-zv7fc technically the stew shouldnt be pork either... because why would it be? the point of the whole thing is that its beef... but 40 years of communism discouraged Czechs from eating beef because communists didnt breed meat cows here. Im pretty sure thats where the "pork goulash" comes from.
