If your ever traveling from Red River to Ouray again a scenic drive is to go just north of Taos then west to Tierra Amarilla then north through Chama to Horca. From Horca one can take forest road 250 west curving north, past Platora and all the way to hwy 160 between South Fork and Pagosa Springs. From Horca to 160 is a good improved gravel rd all the way to 160 with great high Mountain views. Once on 160 you go rt to Creede and Lake City or left to Durango and on to Silverton and Ouray.
We've tackled the Wall twice, first time in the pouring rain and the second time in a surprise blizzard. I did make it up unassisted the second time, but one of these days I will get there when it's dry.
It is hard to beat the beauty of Colorado no matter where you go!!! Most of the trails you were on I could do in my carrier class AT4! I would have to use the bypass on The Wall where you had to winch. Awesome video! Thanks!!
Bill, unfortunately there is no bypass for the wall. You may have noticed that during the video of Matt attempting the wall there was a jeep that drove up. They quickly turned around and headed back down.
Beautiful Countryside and love your videos, did you air down before you tried that steep wet incline where you needed your winch? What size tires do you have on your Gladiator? I ordered a factory 35” Rubicon and can’t wait to get it in 3 weeks.
Was in the San Juan mountains about 3 weeks ago. Camped in Eureka! Rode dirt bikes and took my 4 runner on Ophir, Imogene, Engineer, and Cinnamon Pass - love that area! Wondered what Poughkeepsie Gulch was like. Saw a group with a KC Jeep Club and they said they spent several hours there getting all the rigs up the wall!
Hey bud, just want to let you know that it says in your manual not to use the cheap gas. It specifically says to be sure and use the medium grade or 88. Just thought you should know. The dealership I bought from says it really matters on taking care of your engine.
Great vid as always Matt. Just invested in my first real 4x4 albeit a little 2004 Suzuki Jimny but loving it. I’m in the UK how can I get one of your OZARK Overland badges ? Look forward to the next Vid.
Jimny's are sweet!!! Congrats! You can try ordering patches from longcreekoverland.com but I';m not sure how international shipping works. If it doesn't work, send me a message on instagram.
Me and some buddies did missionary ridge, corkscrew, hurricane,California, engineer, Ophir and imogene over July 4th weekend. It was a blast. Video cannot do it justice although you did a great job. 🤙🏽
I really hope I'm lucky enough to get to go on an adventure with you one of these days. Can't wait till I go out to that area in May for the first time.
Hello 👋🏼 Matt I love that area of New Mexico ‼️‼️. Funny your heading in the same area we will be in just over a week. We are going to Moab in just over a week and will be doing trails along with the Big Parks. Then heading back to Durango Co for a week of back country riding 👍🏼👍🏼 I definitely enjoy your videos ‼️‼️. Stay safe and enjoy
Looking forward to seeing your adventures in Moab, especially camping spots, since I am heading there again in a week. Plan is to pickup a friend in Denver and head to Ouray on the way home, and run Imogen and black bear, weather - snow/sleet - permitting. Kind of your trip, in reverse. It’s amazing the difference in wheeling a heavy and light gladiator! Can you imagine doing Pritchett with a RTT and all the camping swag.
I almost stopped off in Ouray to do Imogene on the way home from Moab last week since I didn't get to do it last year when were out that way driving some of the other shelf roads in the area. Unfortunately after all the driving and hiking I did in Moab, I was just too tired and kept on heading for home. Just means I gotta get back out there again to do Imogene haha.
Hey man, we love your videos and photography. Really like the regular uploads too. I dont know if its just me but when you go from speaking to the music I have to turn my volume way down because the music gets really really loud. Maybe just and EQ thing. Anyways thanks for sharing your adventures 🤘
Crazy question. I was told before going to moab not to fill up 86 octane so i filled 88. In this video you filled it with 87 and 86. Any noticeable decrease or did you use octane booster? Thank you
@@OzarkOverlandAdventures i just traded my tacoma (that i took to moab and colorado in 2021) for rubicon gladiator this very morning so doing all the research for my next trip to colorado and moab.
Ok I've watched 45 seconds of this and I'm already offended that you don't have to put premium in your jeep like I do. Effing 2.0 turbo I love so much haha
Holy Moly... What are the odds of this: A few minutes ago... I just watch a (true) scary show about HAUNTED WOODS... You know I live in New Mexico so when it said (wait for it) Red River New Mexico... where is that.? .. anyway... ALLEGEDLY the Woods are haunted by something that looks like the head has horns, standing up on two legs, but not looking human... could it be a Skinwalker? Has anyone else heard of this? Be careful out there ...
About every other yr it’s hot there, but I was there, this past June in Conway, it wasn’t too bad!!
I miss Cara in your videos.. Sincerely, Cara..
I do too. She’s pretty awesome.

Great video Matt!
Dang dude, don't be throwing that shot of the ice cream cone at me like that.
I was in Lake City, CO that same weekend and did the Alpine Loop. Great area!!!

I want to see y’all do a trip to north GA and TN. Think about it!
Me too!!

@9:16 "it's going to be gorgeous" and it was...that Toyota FJ40! ;-)

Great videos! Are all of those trails connected contiguously?
These trails were connected.
Yes. We started on Engineer Pass which connected to Poughkeepsie Gulch, then Hurricane Pass to Corkscrew Gulch.

I’m making the same trip from OKC to Ouray first week of October. Can’t wait to be there. Great video
That good old chic FIL a sauce!! 😂😂 😋
Looks like at ~19:00 or a little before, you need to let a few more psi out of your tires. I'll keep watching and see how you do.
Yeah I aired down a little more to 10psi after the first couple attempts.
I really hope I'm lucky enough to get to go on an adventure with you one of these days. Can't wait till I go out to that area in May for the first time.
The night shot of the stars was an “oh, wow” moment!
Awesome…yeah the “wall” is no joke, good job James!
Absolutely stunning views!!!
Looks like a great adventure. Enjoyed the video as always.
Cool, I’ll be there next week in Ouray and Tellurude for Poughkeepsie, mineral creek and Blackbeard. How was the smoke????? Great video as always 🤙🏼🤙🏼
No smoke issues at all. Thanks.
I am loving your video edits. Great job taking the viewer through the story line.

The Wall didn't look so bad in your video. Was it just camera angle or was it just not that scary?
cameras never do steep hills justice.,

I just always go with the lowest octane. As you go up in elevation the octane gets lower.

Iv been watching your videos for awhile I think you need to air down more you seem to lose alot of grip on rock
I’m usually at 15psi. For the wall unaired down to 10.
