Been following your tutorial and ended up using 3:1 Contrast Medium : Bad Moon Yellow. BMY looked less-orange than Ironjawz Yellow or Imperial Fist Yellow. It's one of those contrast paints that doesn't darken when it pools, so you've got to be careful to not let it collect where you don't want it. Super happy with the result! Thanks so much for the guide, I've really enjoyed these models.
@@davidshaw123451001 I agree they are very cool models I was in the hobby when they released in the UK for a while but I didn't feel I could do them justice but now I'm very excited to paint them.
I remember when I first got the First Strike starter set for 8th addition and then got all the other easy to build ultramarines and death guard. I love those models and to this day think Nurgle is the best chaos god, followed closely behind by Khorne of course
Amazing job on the plague caster! I am going to follow this guide for my kill team starter set. Raven guard are my favorite. I would be hyped to see your raven guard painting tutorial 🤞😀👍
Love this video, I was wondering how you would paint the flesh as it is such a characterful face, but the addition of violet was brilliant! Thanks for another great video!
I really like this mini and you did a great job painting him. Undescision of what to do with the thin bloods. Sounds like they need to be kitbashed into traitors to me 🤣
Oh wow that Yellow Glaze really made the armour pop. Can't wait to see the rest of them painted. Also Raven Guard would be good. I'll be painting one for a video in my Get Started series.
I'm using your recent ultramarines champion scheme for the sgt. Castus commemorative model! Love it! Can't wait to see what chapter you pick for kill team starter set as I might copy you
Great video! I really like the use of the yellow glaze on the green armor. I vote that you paint up the space marines from the starter box as Blood Ravens.
I will get this set to tip my toe into Kill Team. Suggesting Imperial Fists for the Space Marines. At least that's what I will try (normally Dark Angels only painter!).
When this box Dg hero's box came out last year I was very happy to grab it cheaply. I've painted them like the Bringers of Decay as I have a black legion force.
I didn't comment on this earlier because I needed a think. I used to paint Plague Marines A much gaudier green and then I'd put a green and a flesh ink over the top doing something very similar to what you have here. I think it was Dark Angels Green and then a much brighter one. It gave a really pallid sickly feeling to the green and I'll have to investigate this again. I wonder if I could have mixed the Flesh with the green ink, and if you could mix the brown with the yellow? I'm going to have to have a look at this again because it's a very similar effect.
Throw a curve ball and do "the covenant of fire" chapter who are successors to the salamanders for the space marine half, they have a nice scheme. And I just need a good guide for orange armor
I would test it out somewhere, I’m not sure if contrast will stain more than a glaze even if it’s thinned down! Need to test it out myself but try it out and see if it works!
You say you hate the alternate plague caster. It's Death Guard, wasn't that the point? Mean time, I did do the Death Guard for Armies on Parade the year after they came out in a starter box. One of the marines had those pestilent flies on it and I took a hint from nature and painted the carapace metallic green with washed down wings to hint at that transparent look. Just an idea for those things on your dude?
You mean you don't wanna do a CELEBRANTS kill team (I will be)?? :P Go Raven Guard. Raptors seem to get more love even though they are a successor chapter.
Since recording, we have found out Two Thin Coats does a very good yellow glaze for this recipe!

@@dorath very happy to hear that pal.
I think you should make your marines White Scars cuz of their rivalry with Death Guard, it’s what I’m planning to do with my own.
Good idea!
So excited for this starter set splitting it with my brother for Christmas
…this actually might be the route I go also 🤔
@mortcraft23 I was looking into getting into kill team and my brother just started 40k with dark angels so it was perfect
I bought the sorcerer and DG Kill Team when they were released via the GW website. They don't disappoint - great models.

@@TheGuyInTheCorner447 oh are clearly a man of refined taste. As yes death guard are of course the best chaos marines.
I agree, although the Followers of Khorne lucked out with their Combat Patrol!
@ 20 poxwalkers make me want to cry
@@TheGuyInTheCorner447 my gellerpox tutorial might help?
@ I’ll go check that out. Also, just wondering, how long did it take for you to paint the plaguecaster?

Posted now, hope you liked it!
@MediocreHobbies you rule man! Perfect Raven Guard painting tutorial. Thank you verry mutch 🤘😀👍
Awesome! I was hoping for this! Always happy for more deathguard!!!
They’re so cool! Excited to get the squad done now
Really looking forward to seeing a Raven Guard conversion of the starter set marines!
Posted a tutorial for them but didn’t want to convert them!
Good job breaking down such a complex model into simple steps.
Thanks so much!

Excellent paint scheme!

Would love to see the space marines painted up as crimson fists or retributors
For the marines Andy I think I should do a channel chapter blue and orange of course. Make some backstory up and do a vid.
Crimson Fists or Salamanders would be awesome. Raptors are kinda nice too but i guess 14 green miniatures wont suit the team feeling :D
Oh wow that Yellow Glaze really made the armour pop. Can't wait to see the rest of them painted. Also Raven Guard would be good. I'll be painting one for a video in my Get Started series.
That yellow glaze was epic! Such a great idea to enhance the armour colour. Awesome work man 👊🏻
Yeah just a pity GW doesn't do them anymore!

Omg yessss i was hoping you would post this soon. Don't be afraid to post the others as well 😂😂
My vote is for Crimson Fists for the Space Marines.
Another awesome video, Andy! Thanks for being such an inspiration!
Aw thanks so much!
I love this idea for armor! Great job as usual
Thanks so much :)
Looks great 👍

Would love to see you do a TSons sorceror your Rubric Marine vid was how I found your channel
Looks incredible. Nice work my friend.
Thank you so much 👍
Awesome paintjob. I really would like to see space wolfs with the other loyalists.
jusrt commenting and liking to help the old algo, thanks for all you content. everyone should like and comment, it's free, takes 30s and means a lot

Another Great Video!
Looks sick! Pun intended!
hahaha
I would enjoy raven guard. Though salamanders for battle of the green and fire to purge the infection could be fun
Raven Guard vid is coming tonight!
will be trying army painter speed paint metallics on mine, to make the trim less painful to go on
Good idea, they're great!
Cool idea with the yellow glaze.
Thanks so much!

White scars. Best and fastest marines. Also can be the fastest to paint
Awesome job!
I like your green, you could use ironfist yellow but you have to delude it with a lot of medium.
Yeah i'd test it it before putting on a model!
`Looks class
looking good
Thanks 👍
I'm def interested in the new killteam starter set just for the marines. Never been really into the death guard but they are nice models.
If you hang on they should come out by themselves at a later stage!
Nice
I love it !!!!!!
if you got the MK6 helmets raven guard would look cool
Crimson Fits.
Flesh Tearers! They'll be a nice contrast to the Death Guard.
Already have a good amount of Flesh Tearers done but you're right!
Ordered mine yesterday. They seem to be sold out everywhere today, at least in Canada and on the WH site.
Yeah I think the initial run sold out but they'll be back in stock soon, this isn't a limited box
Do you have any recommendations for an alternative to the yellow glaze? Would Nazdreg Yellow work somehow?
@@daveyjones4350 two things coats does a yellow glaze. I’m sure they will work great. Not nazdreg and all.

Will have a look at them! I did a space marine with half orange armour, it might help you! th-cam.com/video/pOQl7brIMPw/w-d-xo.htmlsi=dcKrwe8HoWQ5Fwbo
If you ask me, there is nothing better than Silver Templar, but a few more Flesh Tears never hurt, enough!
Planning on picking it up for Christmas or at least dropping the hints now for the wife.
Hahah keep talking around her phone so she’ll get ads for it 😄
@ already a step ahead 😏
Great video as ever 💪
Would a 1:1 mix of imperial fist contrast with contrast medium work? Straight out of the pot might be too thick?

White Scars for me
May I ask what kind of brushes you use? Greetings here from Germany 😊
cool

Can you use a thinned down yellow contrast as a glaze?
I would test it out first in case it stains more than a glaze would but it should work! I just haven’t tried it myself so can’t say for sure!
I like that hoodde ;]
Nicely done. I'll use that technique on my own DG. Not copywrited is it? 😉
Please use it, otherwise it's a waste of a video :D
Blood angels to go with your dread.
Carcaradon void marines would look cool..fyi
Do a random chapter with almost no info on them, like the Celestial Guard or the Fire Lords
The original box art was painted 50% Nurgling Green/Deathworld Forest
Ah very cool, thank you!
Go for Raven Guard, they never get the attention they deserve
I did! and totally agree!
I kind of think you should just leave the kill team ultramarines. You’ve been talking about how you want a force of them
Ultramarines? So we have the closest thing to box art?
I have a few videos for them already but it’s an option for sure!
Go old school with Luna Wolves.
Nope no glazes from gw anymore. Two thin coats have glazes or u can buy glazing medium, or thin your contrast paints with the contrast medium.
sorry dude, the background music made me turn off
No worries!
