      Not too surprising, both her parents were in Hollywood, ensuring their daughter would always be on the audition short list for sitcoms.
      Her father John Aniston was most famous for acting on Soap Operas for decades.
      Her mother Nancy Down was also a long time TV actress.

    • @alvexok5523
      @alvexok5523 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@emptyhand777 Yeah, without them having been her parents, she would've hardly been known except for someone who was in those couple of failed 1990 sitcoms. She wouldn't have been on Friends, in Office Space, or Along Came Polly, they would've had a totally different actress playing those roles. I wonder if Lisa Kudrow would've played the characters in those latter 2 movies if Jennifer Aniston never made it past the early 90s failed sitcoms

    • @alvexok5523
      @alvexok5523 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Without her having 2 famous parents, her career wouldn't have taken off the way it did. Jennifer Aniston would've been much less well known since she would've only ever been seen in those 1990 failed sitcoms and she wouldn't have ever been in her career boosting hits Friends, Office Space, and Along Came Polly.
      Jen Aniston isn't the only one who made it big with the help of famous relatives. How big would've Drew Barrymore been without her grandpa John Barrymore, her great uncle Lionel Barrymore, and her dad John Barrymore Jr.?

      That "Cop Rock" musical was pretty cringe. Musicals and cop shows/movies don't mix. Can you imagine any good cop movies such as the Lethal Weapon or Beverly Hills Cop movies replacing their dialogues with musical numbers, or good cop shows like NYPD Blue replacing their dialogue with musical numbers? It sure as hell wouldn't work. I would not look at Mel Gibson, Danny Glover, Eddie Murphy, or Dennis Franz the same way anymore

      Early Fox was such a damn great network. It's a shame it eventually became "just another network", because when it first started, they had a ton of fire TV shows that pushed the envelope.
      Parker Lewis, Married with Children, In Living Color, The Simpsons, Get a Life, Beverly Hills 90210, even Herman's Head... just a ton of shows that were doing stuff that the "big" networks weren't doing at the time.

    I remember a show called "Cupid" starring Jeremy Piven and Paula Marshall. It aired for only 15 episodes in 1998-99. It was a hip, smart romantic comedy with Piven claiming to actually be Cupid, the Roman God of Love, who has to unite 100 couples, without the use of any of his magic powers, in order to return to Mount Olympus. Marshall is the Psychologist assigned to his case. It was revived in 2009 with Bobby Cannavale and Sarah Paulson in the roles and that too was cancelled after an even lesser 7 episodes. I really loved the show and I believe you can find episodes on here.

      I suspect one reason why the Bradys didn't go over well with audiences were all the 80s Brady reunions like that unbelievably horrible Brady Bunch Variety Hour as well as the Brady Girls Get Married and A Very Brady Christmas and by the time this series appeared, fans of the original series were just sick of the entire concept. ABC kept hoping that all those baby boomers who grew up with the original series would watch these reunions out of a sense of nostalgia but the network tried to draw water from that well once too often and this time, it discovered that the well had finally dried up.

    I did watch The Bradys in 1990, and hey, let's face it! Weren't we all curious about how the writers would continue with them after their 1988 Christmas movie? I was! Also Greg's son was played by future Home Improvement star Jonathan Taylor Thomas! I also watched Going Places as well! At least Staci Keanan immediately found work that next season on Step By Step!

    So apparently TV shows based off movies don't do so well. And NBC was really trying hard to find something until Friends came along. They already had Seinfeld!

    • @mjwbulich
      @mjwbulich ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Seinfeld took a while to get going. Friends was huge right away. Seinfeld became the huge show we think of now in 94 when Friends premiered. NBC went from having one show that was 25th in the ratings to having the two biggest shows on TV almost overnight.

    • @elhadjhabbouche663
      @elhadjhabbouche663 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      NBC had "Cheers" and "The Cosby Show", 2 hit shows, but both were coming to an end, that's probably why they were really trying hard to find something, just like you said.
      As @mjwbulich said in his/her comment, it was not until season 3 or 4 for "Seinfeld" to become a popular show.
      I would add that NBC really made it big with "ER" starting the same year than "Friends", having their famous Thursday evening which had "Seinfeld", "Friends" and "ER" for several years.

    I *LOVED* They Came From Outer Space! I actually bought the DVD set on Amazon a few years ago.
    Also, I remember this being the era where networks seemed to love producing shows based off popular movies. In the case of Ferris Bueller, it's ironic that a show that copied it (Parker Lewis) did better and was more entertaining. Also ironic that The Bradys aired against ABC's TGIF lineup as the original Brady Bunch was an ABC show.
    And I absolutely remember Cop Rock because I thought the concept was ridiculous 😂. I do give them points for trying something outside the box. Makes me think of the show "Soap", a soap opera sitcom which sounds crazy but it worked.

    Many people made the point of how most of the shows were remakes/reduxes/releases/reunions of older shows and movies. I wonder if the reason a lot of them failed words, back then people were looking at these and wondering how much better than the movies or originals could they be, and we’re worrying that the 1990s decade was going to usher in an era of unoriginality. And therefore decided to shy away from them collectively.

      The 90s was very original but people were getting tired in the late 90s with how bland things were. 2000 started to liven things a bit. This is how reality TV happened. Then within a few years things got too pretty.
