Do you remember watching any of these?
@TheReviewStudios Only "Bone Chillers"💀🥶😨🤣
saw too many of them, only ome i’m surprised i didn’t see was Bone Chillers!
Oh boy🤢, i only remember #RandySpellings forehead was the main-starring-role in #MalibuShores!🤮This show was an absolute turd💩and thank god it was flushed down the toilet like diarrhea!🙄Sadly other (good) shows on this list didn´t get another (deserved) season!😢Interesting video, thank you for your effort, greetings from Europe🤗
@@satisfied656 Rather colorful description my dear😆🤣
Haha, thanks I was worried nobody would get my joke, good show!
Malibu Shores is peak 90s. Its also hilarious how Keri Russel went from the hot popular girl to just a few years later staring in "Felicity" as the 'awkward/shy nerdy girl' that no guy noticed until college. Hollywood could be hilarious that way.
Absolutely
Well, it's called "acting"
Sheeshh.... "MalibuShores" was the biggest turd on this list! Thank god they canceld this #BrainDiarrhea output! What a waste of time & money...
Super hot chick with hair up and glasses = disgusting was a 90s thing for sure lol
@@satisfied656someone doesn't like girls lol
I recognize the title "Swift Justice" because I saw a standup comedian on comedy central named D.C. Benny who is also an actor and had a bit about getting cast as an extra for the pilot for "Swift Justice" where he played a thug who's only line was "I cut you good!" and he was so proud about having his first acting role he sat his whole family down to watch it only to not see himself in the episode and when he wondered why one of his family members said "They cut you good!"🗡🤣
cool story thanks
@@TheReviewStudios You're welcome.
😂you just unlocked that memory for me haha thank you!
@@blahblahblah1234blah Glad I could help😉😁👍🤣
Yo, that’s horrible. What they did to him, but it is hilarious.
As an international viewer, we never got to see these failed tv shows, so I am grateful this channel shows us what we missed out on. lol
Awesome
I watched Strange Luck, Aliens in the Family, Nowhere Man, Minor Adjustments, Malibu Shires, Dana Carvey Show, Buddies, and Lazarus Man…I had no life back then as a 13-year-old
The Dana Carvey Show was soooooo incredibly underrated and unappreciated.
Yes it was
I’ll need to revisit. I thought it was poor man’s SNL despite being a Dana Carvey fan. Maybe I’ll appreciate it more now that I’m older though
No, it was awful and unfunny
@docsavage8640 Preferences and senses of humor vary, so you'll have that. Your personal opinion isn't going hinder my enjoyment any more than my enjoyment is going to influence you or change your mind on the show. Good stuff.😎👍
This channel deserves many more subscribers.
Thanks
Remember In living Color that's was my favorite show ❤😊
I was ticked not learning why they had to erase "Nowhere Man" from his world's records.
Nowhere Man was excellent! I remember Strange Luck to. Both were good.
Same!
I watched Nowhere Man at the time and remembering being angry it on;y lasted one season. Last year, I watched it again. It mostly holds up, but the finale is very frustrating.
I remember most of these, but the only one's I watched on a regular basis were Minor Adjustments, Malibu Shores and Aliens in the Family. Malibu Shores was my favorite show in 1996.
Ah yes, I remember Malibu Shores.
As a teen in the 90s, I tried every Aaron Spelling/Fox prime time show as well as any WB prime time show.
I didn't think Malibu Shores would be renewed, but it's a good thing since many cast members went on to better things.
We still got Kerri Russell from Malibu shore's I take that a a plus
Wow, memory unlocked! I watched Aliens in the Family, but then quickly forgot about it. 😆
I just got Nowhere Man on DVD!
I was a little too young for it when it first aired but I remember loving it.
I remember not watching it because it scared me for some reason. Especially the opening intro.
A+ video!
LOVE IT! The shows look awesome!
Thanks a ton!
You should consider featuring Working (‘97-99) and Men Behaving Badly (‘96-97). Both had two seasons but I loved them!
love these videos!
Thank you
The Dana Carvey Show was so incredibly ahead of its time. Only 7 episodes is downright criminal.
11:49 Brandy is one of my favorite music artists.
Never heard of "Swift Justice," but its opening title sequence looks & sounds like a discount version of "Homicide: Life on the Street"
Just watched another video about forgotten shows from the 90's that feature Aliens in the Family. Weird.
Everytime I see one of these videos uploaded I click as fast as I can!
I only vaguely remember hearing about the Dana Carvey show at the time. And that one had a huge marketing campaign. None of the rest are familiar.
The Dana Carvey show was such a huge failure it got a documentary in 2017,
It was total shit.
Well, on my own, I would have never heard of any of these. However, from GoodBadFlicks I've heard of Aliens in the Family, and Strange Luck, and from Atomic Abe I've heard of Buddies. Didn't have any luck in finding Larazus Man anywhere, and Minor Adjustments only found 3 episodes, and Dana Carvery Show is missing 2 of the 7, but found the rest on TH-cam, so there we go. Thank you for this, did enjoy it.
Thanks
Always surprised when I see shows I never heard of and you almost got me hear, except I vaguely remember the Dana Carvey show!😂
Yeah, that one is probably the most known
I remember watching Bone Chillers when I was 12 and it should never been canceled in the first place. 😀👍
Nowhere man Minor Adjustments & Lazarus man had potential but they were unfortunately short lived.
Aliens in the family was DEFINITELY a weird show no wonder it lasted only 2 episodes
I remember the old TV series, Seinfeld, what a hit wonder. Also, saved by the bell and spiderman series. Mighty morphin power rangers boy meets world. Hope TV legends continue
Dick wolf did few good stuff my favorite New York Undercover ❤ the music in that show 😊😊😊😊😊 wow.
The best music return of the mack comes to mind
A very good video.
Thank you very much!
Chappelle wrote for Dana Carvey too.
Love remembering old shows 😊
Ever see California Dreams? Do a review on that.
The network did Robert Urich dirty.
The network was still magnanimous, compared to the cancer
@pukeachu he lived six years after they fired him. He worked steadily for that time. The network jumped the gun canceling the show.
I remember Malibu Shores and loved Keri Russell's hair. I also heard of the Dana Carvey song but never watched it.
20:18 This is the only show I remember from this list.
LOVED Nowhere Man!!!!!! And yes, I did wade my way through the Star Trek: Voyager episodes just to get to the Nowhere Man episode, because it was SO MUCH BETTER!!!!
I think the one with the aliens could’ve been better than it was if it was handled properly
it definitely could have.
Bone Chillers was one show to remember especially the “Teacher Creature “ episode which after I first saw it back in the day did give me a little fright.
4:23 - Shaza Zulu!!!!!!!!!!! I totally remember him from "A Different World!"
I love Different World my favorite show ❤❤❤
There was a screen capture of “Aliens in the family” that you showed, in which I recognized a very young Hayden Patteniere.
Oh wow really
I had no idea Dana Carvey had a show and that Louis CK wrote for it. It actually looks....well pretty good also
It was insane, almost like Dana was trying to get canceled for pushing the envelope. What got him canceled was him dressed like Bill Clinton with pig t!ts nursing a piglet. He needed a new sponsor every show because they kept dropping him.
It was weird...and really weird lol I remember the first episode starts off with Dana doing a George bush impression while wearing fake breast and breast feeding puppies. And this was all in the first minute!
Apart from Nowhere Man and Buddies, which I have never seen, I have never heard of the rest of these, so it was good to find out about them.
As a huge Wayne's World fan, I watched every episode of The Dana Carvey show. The bit that has stuck with me for whatever reason was one with Colbert and Carrell as waiters with a stomach bug trying to read the specials without getting sick. It's worth looking up.
I'll have to find that thanks
Imagine watching that crap and liking it
I think I remember commercials for Lazerous man on TNT... might have seen the pilot....
I loved Strange Luck and was upset that it never returned. I kept waiting for a new season that just never happened.
Two great shows from 1996 that you didn't mention: Profit and EZ Streets.
Oh we're not through with 1996 yet! 😃👍
Though there's a chance EZ Streets might end up in a 1997 video.
❤ yes I remember a couple of those shows
There was a 90's show that wasn't on very long called "Life's Work". I really liked it and was sad when it was cancelled.
I remember watching Aliens In The Family. Wasn't the nanny being held hostage by the baby alien?
Steve Carrell and Stephen Colbert were both later on Comedy Central Daily Show That's what helped both go on to greater success
Lets be real here "the ambiguously gay duo" is what made their careers.
D.B sweeney'ed so that Paul could Rudd. Also, who knew Carpenter and Russell together could fail?
Well, it's all in the reflexes.
@kathleenmorrison2908 thank you for getting my joke! If we're not back by dawn...call the president.
A few names like Urich pronounced wrong but good video over all.
I feel like Dick Wolf has been making the same show for 30 years.
I loved Nowhere Man! In fact, I loved it so much, a few years ago I made an entire 21-episode podcast about it, called Nowhere Men: The Nowhere Man Project. Bruce Greenwood is the greatest.
That's awesome
I remember liking Aliens in the Family, but even at the age of nine I could tell it would get canceled 😂
Kinda hilarious the same year we got 3rd Rock from the Sun.
The female teacher in "Malibu Shores" at 13:17 looks familiar and it's bugging me. That database online isn't giving a name I recognize (s a teacher) and the Goos is not helping.
I never even heard of bone chillers but I do remember aliens in the family
I actually kind of like Bone Chillers.
Baby joker was in Malibu shores Aztec warrior
The Dana Carvey show is the only one here I watched. It had the Wizard of Oz cast meeting some guy with no butt crack and lampooned a real-life auction of JFK memorabilia by having the auctioneer ridicule the buyers.
It was unfunny and unwatchably bad
Can you do a video about backdoor pilots? Like pilots that were aired as episodes of more popular shows to see if they would take off? One example I can think of is the one they did on The Nanny, which was about people working at a nail salon.
Great idea
I liked Malibu Shores. Not gonna lie.
remember most of these but dont think i actually finished wtching any of them.
upside this list id remind me of one i have to find, its intro song was lion sleeps tonite and was about a guy that could talk to animals, Doolittle style with jikinks.
1. In the first season or two of UPN, your show had to be doing almost negative ratings to get cancelled, so it is amazing they even got complaint letters.
2. I was 15 in 1995. I watched the first episode of Nowhere Man. But even when I saw the trailer, I said: 'He can't find evidence he's Thomas Veil, because he's not'. Then I gave up. My friends loved the show. He stuck around until the season finale... which turned out to be the series finale. Then he said: 'How the fuck did you see that coming just a two minute commercial.' I said: 'His name means He who doubts cover'. And that's when I knew how bad the show must have been.
I don't remember even one of these shows
I was born in 87 and I don't remember any of these.
That's not "bare bones CGI," Hoss. Those would be puppets (Aliens in the Family)
Right. Not the practical effects like the puppet designs. We're talking the special effects that are of local cable access TV quality at best.
Shortly after Nowhere Man was canceled, they replaced it with the equally short lived but very cool series called 7 Days, in which an excon is recruited into a secret government program aimed at time traveling, in order to prevent various disasters from taking place
I caught a few episodes of 7 Days and really liked it. The Neutron Bomb episode was really scary lmao
Oh man. I remember Nowhere Man and Strange Luck. I watched them mostly because they were on before/after Voyager and the XFiles. Nowhere Man seemed like a ripoff of that one Sandra Bullock movie (The net?) even at the time but it was a lot of fun. The last episode they threw in a bunch of cliffhangers that were, even to teenage me, ridiculous. For strange luck... I remember LOVING it and I rewatched a few episodes on youtube last year. IMHO it has not stood the test of time. A perfect time capsule of what would have been considered cool in 1996 :)
AHAHAHAHA I just remembered that in Nowhere Man you can identify the bad guys because they use a pencil to poke a hole in their cigars, rather than cutting the end off. I've always wanted to smoke a cigar just to see if that works
I loved Strange Luck, it's sitting on a 100% on Rotten Tomatoes
Kindred: The Embraced was a vampire show that came on Fox in 96. But I think it had 2 seasons so it wasn't a complete failure.
Love Different World ❤ my favorite espsiode was a few of them..most favorite one was the 2pac espsiode when he made a small appearance..❤. I love 2pac ❤
Nowhere Man!! I'll forever be in mourning. 😭
I remember when those Buddies DVDs first came out, they were an exclusive to Best Buy. This was the time the Chapelle Show was the hottest thing in the world, and Best Buy went out of their way to market them as if they were the Chappelle Show and not some lame sitcom.
They even released a circular (remember those) touting the exclusive Friday launch of the DVD set on the front page, again going out of their way to make it seem like it was a Chapelle Show DVD set.
Ah interesting
I loved the Dana Carvey Show. It still sticks in my head. You may have noticed Mountain Dew in the title. A few weeks had sponsors such as MD, Mug Root Beer, and Taco Bell that played into some skits.
It was utter shit
I've seen Malibu Shores, which was rather horrible (and that's coming from someone who likes 90210 and loves Keri Russell), and Swift Justice which was absolutely excellent!!!
Seeing the dad from Raven with hair is kind of weird also brotherly love great show
The list of shows canceled with Essence Atkins in the cast must be endless.
I forgot about Strange Luck! I watched it because it came on before The X-Files. Kinda wish Fox had kept it around and done some crossovers.
Yeah, I went back and watched the pilot, and it hooked me in right away
Oh I loved Nowhere Man and right after Voyager! 15 y.o. Me had a wonderful 2 hours of UPN viewing 😂
I love goosebumps and are you afraid of the dark ❤❤❤😊
Damn, I was 13 at the time and didn’t know any of these shows existed
It’s Urich. Not Ulrich.
i remember minor adjustments. he basically would do his standup routine in the middle of the show.
Pretty much
Nowhere man would be perfect for a reboot or continuation in today's conspiracy theory obsessed world.
It would
Strange Luck was an awesome show. It just had the bad luck (pun intended) of being on Friday Nights on FOX, a notorious ratings graveyard.
So weird that Minor Adjustments randomly moved to UPN so fast from NBC mid-season. I mean I know sometimes TV shows change networks the following season or a lower performing show will move to lesser watched networks owned by same company (ie Quarter-life form NBC to Bravo) but this is one instance where it goes from one network to another competing network mid-season. Is there any other situations like that?
🤯 Dave Chappelle and Jim Bruer had bit parts on Home Improvement and got their own show(well Jim Bruer got the shaft which is probably why it flopped, they killed the chemistry between the main characters.)
It's crazy how they would cancel number nine for that reason, but yet nowadays all debauchery and blasphemy is allowed anywhere especially on "kid" networks
It is
Nowhere Man was a really good show. The last three episodes are dynamite. The DVD is also great, with a huge amount of extras and commentaries. It seems like there was a lot of behind-the-scenes drama. The creator, Lawrence Herzog, found himself getting pushed out as the season went on and they couldn't agree on a direction for a second season.
Aliens in the Family always stuck with me because of how bad it was. I remember watching its premiere and never returning. Strange Luck was a great show though. I was always annoyed that it and Brimstone got canceled before they had a chance to grow.
Definitely, thanks for sharing
Nowhere Man is something I would be interested in now, but in 96, I was fresh out of HS and not interested in that type of content. *sigh*
For me I didn't watch those shows with the exception of Strange Luck. I remember it coming on before the X files. It was a good show I really liked it.
Lazarus Man was a UPN show that was paired with NowhereMan.
I actually loved "The Dana Carvey Show."
Why? It sucked ass
Considering how weak UPN's ratings were, it's crazy they canceled Swift Justice and Nowhere Man. Especially Nowhere Man, which was the best of the X Files wannabes, because it took the grand conspiracy idea and made it their own.
Bonechillers was dumb, goofy fun, and should have lasted longer. That said, Linda Cardellini was the best thing about it.
I never watched The Lazarus Man but always meant to.
It's fun for such an obscure show, The Review and GoodBadFlicks both covered Aliens in the Family within a week of each other.
I feel like they were trying to put Kerri Russell in everything around this time. Almost nothing good or memorable though...unless you liked Felicity or the video for Bon Jovi's "Always".
