Have you guys heard some of the locker room speeches that Kirby gives? He's so passionate about the players, the team, and the program. If you want to talk about accolades then sure Nick Saban is number 1 but when you talk about passion and character and belief in the team I think Kirby is the best coach in the business. I'm not saying Saban doesn't care about his team or program because obviously he does but Kirby lives and dies by UGA. Just look at the impact he has on the team. Every person on that roster fully believes in the team and they all hold each other accountable and try to improve each other.

Kirby walked out that door and saban rattled off 4 more titles without him. Saban is the main reason Kirby is successful today and Kirby even says that he has modeled everything he does at georgia off of what he saw saban doing at bama. Bama has had its coordinators pillaged every season like no other program has ever seen and yet they keep getting #1 recruiting classes, sec titles, national titles and remain at the top of the heap every season. Got a question for Josh, it's one I've pondered since Kirby arrived at UGA about Bama. You made the analogy of a plane flying at 35000ft to programs at the top of the game don't nose dive but instead have a gradual descent down. Apply this to the time-line of Kirby leaving Bama, going to UGA, to now the present! Look at those earlier Bama team's at how physical and intimidating they was and ask yourself, which team looks most like those teams today? You said in this segment you didn't believe a coach would ever be able to duplicate what Saban has done, yet Kirby has. So the main question is.......... is it duplication? Or was it just Kirby all along?

@christianrapper my point I'm trying to make is we are prisoners of the moment. Before Kirby it was dabo. Everything currently being said about Kirby and georgia was said about dabo. But dabo had about a 4 year run with saban and he fell back. Before that it was urban Myers and Ohio but they fell back also. The one and only coach, team and program that keeps producing is saban and bama. I mean we are talking about a single title at this point and we are talking like this. If he goes back to back thats great and I firmly believe he's #2. Now if he comes out next year and beats saban I would put him at 1 for the 2020's. But man, saban been at this a long time and he just went undefeated and won it all just 2 years ago. Kirby still has never done that because his best season ever to this point is a season where he went 1-1 with saban and didn't even win his own conference. And he's not won it yet this year. What happens is Ohio or Michigan beats him? Does he stay at #2? Are we really gonna judge who's #1 by just 1 game between him and Ohio or Michigan? To use Josh's analogy on the honey and water. Everyone is being water right now. Kirby ls great, but sitting here today he's got a single title where he didn't even win his own conference that year and absent the 2 injuries to bamas receivers, he would be without that 1 titled because with them Kirby got thumped. Do you think maybe the reason a coach has been able to pull off getting a program to bamas level while saban is still coaching is because its the coach that was the architect for like 4 of bamas natty defenses under saban? Maybe kirby had more to do with those 4 nattys than people give him credit for. People say kirby was made by saban but im starting to think those early saban teams were made by kirby. kirby built some of the best defenses cfb has ever seen at bama and brought it to uga and now uga looks like early alabama with their dominant defenses.

Kirby Smart is a great coach, don’t get me wrong… but why are we acting like because they’ve won 1 that he’s Nick Saban? Not everyone who wins a championship is at that level… college you can kind of make an argument because there are so many teams… but we don’t put people in the hall of fame after 1. If he doesn’t win this year, and he doesn’t make the CFP next year… are we still talking about him like he’s Saban? I don’t even think he’s done anything particularly special amongst SEC coaches in the past 20 years. Brian Kelly made a few CFPs with Notre Dame and nobody in their right mind would’ve compared him to Saban after winning 1 or even 2 of them.
Idk, I feel like we jump on this bandwagon all the time. Hell, there were folks on TV arguing Jim Harbaugh was that after he beat OSU for the 2nd time in a row… like, he could win 2 or 3 and I don’t think you could put him at that level and I’m a Michigan fan. What Nick Saban has done is unique and special because of its longevity and duplicability. It’s because he’s done it year after year after year, not because he won one and the rest are just icing on that cake. Kirby Smart is gonna have to do it at least a handful of times to get in that conversation, in my mind. So will any other coach who wants to be compared favorably with Saban.

Although Pate saying, “We can guess which one is guaranteed to be gone,” I seriously couldn’t tell you. Golding’s made the defense worse every year he’s been there and O’Brien’s wasted talent for two years.
    >Saban’s the best coach still, no one’s disputing that. But Pate’s completely right that “going forward,” you’d take Kirby because of the youth factor. What I would say about Kirby going forward is that he now has to learn how to replace QB and get better production out of the position than what Stetson’s given ‘em. It’s just how the sport is moving and it’s a big hurdle. I hope Kirby keeps at it though, he’s great.

Kirby will win at least 3 titles or more before he retires. This year's team is a rebuilding year, and most of the team is young. There are lots of things to fix before OSU, but they have surpassed what I thought would already happen this year. Other fan bases were basically making fun of Georgia over the 40-year drought,1 hit wonder, or LSU 2.0. Georgia's recruiting and development is top tier.

@@jumpercable9292 exactly. People don’t understand this is Georgia’s “rebuild” year.
