Anyway, the article gave me pause, and I, like many of your viewers became concerned. However, as a grown woman, mother, and Special Education teacher, I am fully aware of kids being blamed for situations before the whole story is presented. My feeling was to just wait it out and see what became of these various situations. I have to admit that I am still heartbroken about Devin Willock and Chandler Lecroix, and what happened in January. I will never forget, but I will continue to watch my Dawgs play and enjoy the games. Thank you for your perspective.

Best comprehensive take on the whole situation I've heard so far. Thanks for some actual journalism, logic, and measured responses. People also fail to realize that organization employees like Gantt fill a needed role for kids who are away from home and their guardians in times of crisis. It's not necessarily nefarious. Sometimes its welcomed assistance onsite to connect these kids with parents and resources immediately when their actual guardians are several states away from being able to help. No one is taking allegations of sexual assault lightly, but we should also afford defendants the right to be innocent until PROVED guilty. I suggest everyone read up on Brian Banks...among others...

I’m glad to hear your voice loud & clear on this “story”… which seems to me more about a paper & its ‘journos’ trying to make a mark, rather than being clear with the relaying of events.
I’m a PSU alum, and we could have used a few POV’s like yours about 12 years ago, when the media descended like locusts on Happy Valley and shit all over it, as well as the reputation of our uni & our FB program. They didn’t look for facts - they looked for ways to create more damage to a program that had truly focused more on character & education as much as athletics.
It was a sham, and as a former journo myself, I did the research, and found the coverage of the events heinous and incendiary.
We can’t be a mob rule society, with instant consequences to those involved in controversial issues.
Thanks for your words on GA… I don’t want to see any other institution go through what PSU did.

As a former collegiate athlete, I'm immediately skeptical of sexual accusations against a big-time player. As a former member of the military who has had to witness many horrible situations, I have zero apathy for the truly guilty of those crimes. So I'm conflicted, but Kirby does need to keep an eye on the peripheral before his program risks becoming Jimbo Fisher at FSU 2.0. As for the players and parents, this is one of the cons that comes with giving up the student athlete title for the right to make money. I'm not saying any of it is right, but when you earn money for a high profile job, you become fair game. Just the way it is.

It’s the problem with the sports related media in today’s world that when some team gets to the top, the media looks for every opportunity to find faults in that team. The media is looking to always expose the big thing that makes them tick. The media want the opportunity to get and “expose” the big story whether it’s true or not.

AJC? They usually are haters. But this level? I dunno. Whether its anti-UGA or pro-Tech right down the street from 'em, anti-Kirby or jealous or a higher-up with an axe to grind. Maybe a desperate hail-mary due to low profits. Whatever it is, its sleazy. And like most corporate - owned media these days, they have an agenda, sides are picked BEFORE a topic is written or spoken about. Omissions and spinning the facts, giving a clear picture of what the reader must think about the topic. Instead of just, here is everything we know. Which IS reporting. But now, its just a bunch of BS. And in most major institutions.
Throw science in the same boat. Most all science these days, like nearly all, arrives at an outcome that benefits those who funded it. And who will likely fund them in the future. Drug companies, governments, foundations, you get my drift. Too many entities have become too big, too rich, too powerful that now, its ALL CROOKED.

Up again with the people began to earn money via click .. and click bait" arrived.
With the smartphone, it went up a notch as folks using the small screen didn't want to scroll thru a full story. The other huge push was when TV networks combined click bait headlines, abandoning journalistic ethics and "new reporting" became based on what any random wingnut said or wrote anything in a public space.
It allows people to justify in their minds picking themselves up a bit above the masses by having confirmation that everything was their or their "group's" failures.
The great Senator Moynihan said it best ... "“You are entitled to your opinion. But you are not entitled to your own facts.” And if you run off your mouth without getting the facts.. well mark Twin said it best ...“It's better to keep your mouth shut and appear stupid than open it and remove all doubt "

Kirby works those boys harder than any team in the nation and he recruits second to none. When you combine the two you see what happens on the field. It’s strictly football. Kirby seems like the type to treat his players how they will be treated in the real world. If you make dumb choices then that’s your fault. He’s not gonna baby or council anyone. It’s strictly hard work and business at Georgia. Not to mention the athletes at UGA literally have every resource available to not be getting caught up in BS. If u get in trouble at Georgia you’re likely looking for it

Well, to be fair you did literally say he works those boys harder than any team in the nation and recruits second to none. And then stated that you were not saying that they will recruit #1 100% of the time for now till then end of time. When in reality, kirby has only ever had 2 #1 recruiting classes ever. And technically only out worked everyone 2 times as well. It's actually factually true and literally true that saban has out recruited everyone second to none, and outworked everyone second to none in the past 15 years more than Kirby, ohio state, and michigan all combined. So its not even that he took it literally. Its that it's just not even a tad bit true and completely a Ludacris statement. Not hating but just stating the statistical craziness to even say that statement at all. While adding the obvious elephant in the room to your statement.......which is Saban!!

My belief is the school/program is to be held to a higher standard than the individual player. By saying you should have the back of the individual player casts a light that is not good on the remainder of the team who have not put the team in that bad light. If the accusations turn out to be false, the door should reopen to return. The coach should have a policy that does not involves any judgement. Every player should be treated equally no matter where they are on the depth chart, and every player should know this.

All I can say is that there is a pattern of this behavior and that in itself should be concerning. Not saying the current players are guilty or not but the school should hire an unbiased investigator and find out are there situations that can or that are fostering this type of behavior because players have egos and combined with drinking and other outside things do cause these things to happen. It happens at alot of schools and for it to be mentioned leads me to believe that there is some truth in aligations even though the story seems exaggerated and at some point will become truth if not addressed.
