    I’m one of the few players in my club that my first practice allways involves serving. I’ve allways placed a priority on practicing placement on first and second serves. It’s about drawing a short ball more than trying to get the flashy ace. Deception, pace, spin and bounce are the key factors. 👍👍

    It is complex, but taking the toss out works nicely. You can work on getting the windmill, the main thing ive noticed anna is not doing is splitting the hands when doing the toss, bringing the racket arm backwards begins a nice curve. Practicing slowly without a ball really helps, its like a cricket type throw with the windmill

    The beginner series is very important even to an intermediate player because it shows the foundations of the tennis serve I would like to say that the toss can be practiced by tossing and catching the ball with the arm extended until you master it then start all over again in a trophy position then practice the contact point it will get complicated with the rotation and the shoulder turn however if you can get a toss right wow !!!! then the rest will come easily Nikola I learn more from the beginner series than intermediate or advance!!!! it makes you think more ...

  • @nataliaprojekt6232
    @nataliaprojekt6232 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    best piece of advice he gave her was: don't try to serve like I do because you can't. and he proved it to her. I made this mistake at the beginning, I wanted to have the service motion " like the ATP guys" of course; my coach was begging me not to try that and do it step by step instead, but I couldn't help myself, and I developed this strange very complex, veeery elaborate movement, and forward body acceleration with a jump and all, which was actually quite impressive as a choreographic stunt maybe but I didn't have the basics, my toss was all over the place, next my serving arm started to play tricks on me, and currently after a few years of struggle I'm coming back to the basics because everything went haywire on me and I just can't serve at all to be honest. The body remembers what you teach it, and it's really difficult to unlearn the mistakes when you're an adult student of tennis or any other sport/dance. for real. Second good piece of advice is the time to be spent on the serve each training session - it's a very common occurrence in recreational tennis coaching not to spend a lot of time on service. This makes the other parts of the game develop way faster and this lack of balance is unwelcome. it's very frustrating when you're a decent ball striker in all other areas but this one last is just not working for you.. so, don't try this at home for sure. make your coach spend even 5 minutes on your serve each lesson, don't get discouraged if it's not working for a long time, it won't, it's the most difficult shot in tennis. I'm still on it, trying hard

      @@IntuitiveTennis Thank you. I look forward to it. You are one of the best tennis instructors on TH-cam. Your coaching and insights are top notch and we'll delivered in an easy to understand and apply manner.
      I think strings and tensions are very overlooked by all players below the pro level. Buying my own stringer and stringing my own racquets has literally changed my game and how I play tremendously for the better. It's way beyond gut, multis, and syn guts for comfort and polys for control and spin. It's way beyond string tighter for control and looser for more power. Hybrid strings and what I'll call "hybrid tensions" (different tensions in mains and crosses) also play a huge role. Not understanding and using these factors is almost like playing with one arm tied behind your back because of not taking advantage of creating the changes in racquet feel and playability that is brought about by using different strings and tensions, even on the same racquet.

    This is so helpful! I am only 6 minutes in so far but notice you haven't mentioned the trophy position. Is that something that is unhelpful to talk to someone about on their first day serving?

    My question is it is more important to teach what the body does e.g. feet- sideways- arm separation- both arms up- weight transfer etc rather than what the whole path of the racket should be doing ? Thanks. I enjoyed the video

    This video is a good example of how difficult it can be for a beginner to understand the basics of serve technique. It's not an intuitive motion

    Now she needs to unlearn the pancake and learn the pronation.. this and the toss are the hardest things for me... Also changing where you got the ball for the kick serve.. I often change the motion rather than the contact point

    Do you have videos on peaking balls up without touching them on the ground ? There are different ways to hit the balls to make those jump up to the hand. 😁
