I'm getting on in years. When I played a lot in my younger days we didn't have the internet. I used to have to read a coaching book in order to improve. Now you can watch great lessons like this. What a fabulous resource! My message to youngsters is "Make the most of it"! When it's raining and you can't get out to play, watch these videos!

Hey Nick, I watched several other tennis coaches on TH-cam, but you definitely have the most powerful way to make things simple and to make sense to us as recreational players. The way you explain and demonstrate is concise and makes so much sense that I am being able to improve a lot of my movements just by watching you! Thanks for your work!

7:38 - WRONG, WRONG, WRONG. ARM? Handshake tuck? Left side leads? Subtle sequencing? Left shoulder leading? Seriously??? No wonder she's so confused and totally out of sync. It's the HIPS, HIPS, HIPS, they LEAD everything. He NEVER says that ONCE. As if the TOP of her body is floating in ether or something. It's NOT, it's planted on her HIPS, then connects to the ground via her LEGS. The poor girl is totally unbalanced all the time, she makes a quarter turn at best with her HIPS trying to follow his deluge of totally misleading instructions. Don't think too much he tells her after giving her micro instructions for 10 different parts of her body, wow! At the end she has "a glimpse" of how the forehand should FEEL, but by the next lesson she will have forgotten these convoluted instructions and be right back where she started, which is EXACTLY where her coach wants her to be, paying him for many more EXPENSIVE lessons.
Here's what took me 12 YEARS to figure out on MY OWN, after watching hundredths of coaching videos from at least a dozen different internet coaches and countless in person lessons, that I want to share with EVERYONE watching this video, as I think it will make the BIGGEST difference in your forehand:
Forget about turning the SHOULDERS! That's a DISTRACTION, it's NOT the shoulder that's DOING the turning, it's the HIPS!
When watching slow motion footage of PROs, STOP looking at their shoulders and focus instead on their HIPS (they are - via your legs - turning your WHOLE UPPER body, including the shoulders).
In tennis you need to use your ENTIRE body, legs/hips are THE KEY here, without them you will NEVER get beyond pushing the ball back and forth and that's where these coaches want you trapped FOREVER, so that you keep coming back to them for more PAID lessons/courses ;)
Once you understand that the unit turn needs to be INITIATED by the hips, EVERYHTING changes. You start to SUBCONSCIOUSLY, i.e. without thinking, use your LEGS, that turn your HIPS, which turn your shoulders, i.e. KINETIC CHAIN but on AUTO-PILOT.
That way you stay perfectly balanced, you automatically (without any additional thinking) engage your core and your POWER and consistency will grow exponentially. That's the KEY to a PRO forehand that NO ONE is telling you this. I wonder why?!
Once you have this down, you will FINALLY have a solid FOUNDATION and you can then start adding all the peripheral bits that everyone is teaching you here on TH-cam.
Be sure to drop a LIKE on this comment if it helped you out, so that MORE people get to see it!

It's very good to keep your non-dominant hand up and moving to the left out of the way as you are hitting the ball. It helps with your balance and enhance power. At the end of the stroke, it is advisable to grab the racket with your non-dominant hand, as if you were answering a phone call. That helps with spin and consistency.

Her original swing was the traditional straight back with racquet head drop. Kind of like the path of opening and closing a door. If I remember correctly the take back style that Nick describes as a loop has also been referred to as drawing the letter C to describe the path the racquet takes. Although it’s called a modern forehand I believe that it has been evolving for a while. I can remember playing against guys 20 years ago who used semi western grip, open stance and hit heavy top spin. These videos offer top notch professional instruction so let’s not forget to mention that Nick has been a certified PTR teaching pro for a long time. It’s one thing to demonstrate the correct stroke but his real skill is knowing how to help his student hit the stroke correctly. This student has lots of athletic ability and followers direction.

Thank you for these instructional videos! They are very helpful.
I just started playing this year. It was something I wanted to add on top of getting back into league soccer. It's the challenge I needed as paramedic recovering and coping with PTSD.p I have been playing wall tennis at least 2 times a week and a tennis instructor was already amazed at my technical ability when I met up with him for some pointers and even my first match.
    These videos are great!

The best of the best of the best video ever i have seen, which explains a firm technique of forehand. The best part is showing common mistakes made by the players and how to get away from those. Very helpful.

Such a great coach, very clear and great explanation of movement. Anna just wants to do it right and it’s great seeing her putting the lesson to practice and hitting the forehands with correct technique! Well done keep it going guys!

Hi coach, do you think if she took her left arm and brung it back with her right arm she would be able to hit through the ball cleaner and have more control? You are an awesome coach and I appreciate your great work on your videos and teaching. Thank you

@@IntuitiveTennis I had that same issue my friend. You are a great teacher and I have learned a lot from you thus far. I did see her using her left arm, and turning into the ball with her hips to generate power much easier. I have been training to get back into shape so I can play in tournaments again. I had two hip replacements and I have a plate in my left shoulder. I am doing this to show other disabled people that they can still do things in life, with faith in GOD, and will power. Also learning from super nice people like yourself. GOD bless you and yours my friend. Thank you

Bir çok videoda performans oyuncusuyla yapılanların aksine başlangıç seviyesinden alıp modern forehand vuruş tekniğinin nasıl öğrenildiğini gösteren ender videolardan biri. Daha gerçekçi süper olmuş.
