That may be true but have you ever tried to stealth one of those encampments in FarCry 4 but fail so much you just decide to dive headfirst into the action and somehow win?
I beat the main story a while back, but I still have a quest log full of side quests. I'll probably have an even longer queue when the next DLC comes out.
I remember being overwhelmed by The Witcher 3's side quests the first time I played. It took me back to the days of Skyrim and Red Dead, with random events taking my attention away from the main story. The Witcher, however, had all these unique and different missions that had me distracted for hours; but a lot of these quests made me feel like I had to go out of my way. That said, it was a new and welcomed experience I wish more games took note of. Fortunately for me, Assassin's Creed Origins takes that aspect and multiplies it in an even more immersive manner. I love a game that challenges your objectives and goals by flexing its ridiculously addictive side content in your face at every moment in the least obnoxious way possible. It's like it's subtly showing off by telling you "you could do this insanely fun side quest - if you'd like..." Skyrim, Witcher, Red Dead and many other games have had similar mechanics/formulas; but AC Origins has adapted upon the open world formula in a way that is mentally inescapable - for me at least. Every time I open up the game, I'm met with a new quest, mission or even quick objective that requires my focus (in most cases). I'd say I'm prone to adoring this game because of my love for Egyptian/Roman history in every sense of the word. That and you can hunt, free-run, hike, climb, assassinate, fight, sail, race, slide, swim and even fly through Egypt; or you could just sit back and let your mount, or raft-man/sailor guide you along the landscape without touching a button; while also flying from above as Senu. In shorter words - imagine a gladiator/assassin simulator with a visually stunning world comparable to Horizon Zero Dawn's; all mixed up with Witcher 3 quest mechanics and Red Dead's much missed desert hikes, with random encounters that would throw you off your path. Even imagining that only vaguely covers entirety of the game. In other shorter words - imagine every open world game and take elements from them all, and then throw in a free-running assassin. If any part of you is excited by any of these notions - you owe yourself some time in AC Origins.
one thing i want to see out of Origins at some point started from an easter egg in Rogue, in the modern day scenes in the abstergo building we can find an audio log of Berg and Da Costa talking about an Egyptian artifact called the Ankh of Isis and how it has the power to raise the dead, and before anyone tells me this i already know that they brushed it off as an assassin trick, but what if it wasn't? Origins takes place in ancient Egypt and doesn't it seem a bit convenient that a relic from ancient Egypt was referenced and then we get a game in ancient Egypt, when we hunted the Hyena she was trying to resurrect someone, so it seems that it could be possible that the Ankh of Isis is a thing that we could run into, what else this could mean is that if the assassins get hold of the ankh, the shroud, and Desmond's body they could resurrect him, we can't forget the end of Syndicate where we see Juno and figure out that she's creating a new body for herself, and even if we don't get a resurrected Desmond it kind of sounds like something that she'd need to come back in a new body, that's just my theory
I just finished the Hidden Ones main story and a few side quests myself. Excellent preview you made here Ellen! I would also like to add that the XP you get for the Hidden Ones main and side quests is insane. 8.000 XP is rather low, 15.000 XP is common and in Ellen's preview you see one quest rewarding 22.500 XP. All that when it requires less than 30.000 XP to complete a level. :) For only 10 EUR/USD or 8 GBP there is also plenty of content. I already spend close to 10 hours on it now and while I finished the main story I still have a few side quests left and still a lot of locations to discover on the map. If you enjoyed and completed the base game and want to see the newly found Brotherhood from the base game in action then I can highly recommend buying this!
I loved the opening in The Hidden Ones and the blind dude who's singing. I thought he would just stay in the one spot, but when he started popping up almost everywhere I was before a mission...I was like pay this man lol.
on this distance even very thick leather gloves would given him terrible burns. The only way for this functioning are solid metal plates on the inside of his hands which would be stupid and make it pretty much impossible to use his bow with any accuracy. But then again it is just a game and I am getting carried away here...
What about a list of small, insignificant enemies that killed many players, somehow? Like bees and cuckos in various Zelda games and rats in Dishonored (unless you have the right bone charm of course)
Diablo had a few that where good, especially Diablo 2, those little spikey jerks in the second location that could kill you if you got swarmed but where usually easily one-shotted come to mind.
I hope you can call the assassin apprentice in for a fight. My favorite thing to do in brotherhood was sit on a bench, whistle, then watch chaos unfold
It’s a good thing I’m not really all that good at stealth, I’ve gotten better but my skills really start to shine in the middle of combat and taking out my enemies one after another
I can see ubisoft showing the establishment of masyaf in possibly the next sequel with bayek as on the map Jerusalem is right around the corner from sinai (fyi when I say around the corner I don't mean literally) 😂
while i love to play more of Bayek, i would really love to play an expansion of Aya's story. She's not thoroughly developed in the main game so i want to see more of her.
I hope the recruitment is like the AC 3 version where each new member brings a new skill and if they die, they return after a while, hella useful especially at full heat (which is always the heat you want if you want to go on a rampage)
I've just started the ''Hidden Ones DLC''...so far, so good... But for the next game I would love to see some assassin's to control and cooperate with them like Brotherhood/Revelation even some village/city or a homestead to upgrade. Can't complain to much, the game is good, they really put the work, art and history on it...but for an Assassin's Creed game I think this is all about,a Brotherhood that cooperate together and grow up together...
Finished the main game and really enjoyed it, side quests and all, so will for sure be picking this up - though I hope they don’t continue to demonize the Romans for no reason, as an ancient history major that really annoyed me
They didnt mostly, they never even talked shizz about Octavian, only Caesar and Mark Antony. Though they demonize Roman rulers in their colonies, which is very true.
@Andree Tungcab I mean the fact that they didn’t specifically target Octavian doesn’t mean they didn’t lay into Rome, they butchered Caesar for no real reason and elevated the Senators for no reason at all, and Roman colonies could be harsh but often Romans allowed local culture and belief to continue
Ok for $15 probs worth it enough, there are three smaller targets, then a boss target, and then a really average boss fight at the end, but a large area and a set of fairly good side-quests are the main benefit.
Bought the DLC today only to realise I've deleted my saved data for Origins meaning I have to do the whole story again to play the DLC. The story took me about a month to finish because of commitments like work for example and having xbox in the living room (no TV in room yet) so can only play it when family not about. I was also trying to do a lot of side stuff and get as many achievements as possible such as defog the world map but I don't have to worry about that now. So 2nd playthrough shouldn't be so bad.
Caesar is assassinated in 44BC, and the Hidden Ones takes place 4 years later in 40BC. Cleopatra committed suicide in 30BC, therefore 10 years. I'm willing to guess we won't see it in the next DLC.
Hope they continue the recruitment aspect into the second story DLC, that's the main thing that had been stuffed up since brotherhood and revelations, glad to see that they are putting some work into the brotherhood again, hope this continues into the next game as well since playing one bad ass assassin is good but being a bad ass assassin guild leader is better.
I assume that the hidden ones will eventually split off to the assassins and templars alike considering at the end of ac3 its said that the message will be misguided creating two factions
I enjoyed the base game, but if there's nothing really significant added I'll pass. Too much else about to come out right now. Also, I was hoping it would re-introduce the Brotherhood mechanics of building up strongholds and having lesser assassins to manage and call upon. Like the last game with Ezio did. Seemed like the perfect time to bring that back and complete Bayeks story, showing us how the apple of eden plays into all this. Ah, well.
The interview with the developer edit was a little choppy... like a swipe from Bayek's sword was interfering every few seconds. Still, nice to see you get out and about Xtra team.
So I'm going to have to go in from above and make good use of my bows? Do you mean... exactly how I played the rest of the game? Also, concentrated groups of enemies... *chucks a poison dart at one then goes and hides somewhere as they all poison themselves and die And if everything does go pear-shaped I think I'll be OK at hand-to-hand combat, I did get to wave 16 of horde mode on my first try...
"With fewer fences for you to hide behind on your approach and a high number of guards who can easy spot you across a gap, a stealthy approach to your target is much hard". So just Leeroy Jenkins it and play like Mike?
This video has me wondering, in what order do you write a script for these? do you have a good idea what your gonna say before capture? or is it mainly written after?
I just hope to play the game some day... But since I’m the one person excited to see Metal Gear Survive turns out to be I’m gonna be busy with that for a little while, and my second play through of The Witcher 3... Geuss it’ll more than a little while.
I still haven't even torn off the wrapper on this game, never mind attempted its story. Unlike Mentor Bayek, Altair & Ezio's iconic weaponry, my shame at this fact is in no way hidden. Requiescat in pace D0nATr0n's dignity. Requiescat in pace.
Harder my arse the only difference will be no pyramid to climb beyond that been above the enemy will be as normal as jumping off a building to a cliff. The climbing ain't gonna ruin my stealth approach as that's always been my approach. Unless of course there's nothing to climb.
That wouldn't be too bad. I just hope the next game or a future game is set Greece, or we learn a little about Darius--who used the first hidden blade.
At best, we would get something with Aya in Rome, setting up the Roman Brotherhood. As much as I would love it, I don't think that we'll see Masyaf. It became the fortress canonically in the 12th Century, and just looking at the Masyaf Wikipedia page, fortresses were torn down and rebuilt, so it wouldn't even look like what we know it as.
They went from assassins (General killing people) to hidden ones in the first ac game that makes stealth useless and tries to make you fight people more than any other
More vertikal? Heck no! xD and even if...only to find the hidden treasures which I've seen in the mountains thanks to Senu and the notes laying around in the villages and outposts.
Lol literally took 8 hours to fully upgrade all my gear, level up to 45, and 100% all the activities in Sinai. So $13.49 just distracted me from the base game 😂😂 still fun tho
How has no one beat the main game yet? Even 2 weeks ago I beat the whole game... All locations all side quests got every skill point from experience grinding after completing everything...
I just now got to syndicate which is overwhelming enough in stuff to do. I don't even know if I ever want to get origins. I have spent more time on AC games than any other franchise or and all of the games I've played combined. People say bigger maps are better but they take longer to clear, make it more difficult to have memorable areas, and are jam packed with all of the crap that developers add to them because having bigger open worlds gives developers an excuse to add too much stuff. All of the AC games feel the same too. Each has their own little differences yes but the gameplay is always very similar and the feel is always the same.
Daniel Flanard from all AC games Syndicate was the worst. I was a hardcore AC fan until I played The Witcher 2+3, so I wasn't sure whether AC Origins would suck or not. Long story short: I played it and really liked it! You should give it a try. It is really great and makes you like the AC franchise again :)
Hidden blades at the ready, as Ellen brings you seven new things in the Assassin's Creed Hidden Ones DLC. Enjoy!
Outside Xtra am I paying too much attention or is your voice a little off Ellen...?
Aside: It's working perfectly! Increase the dosage!
Were you in Montreal and didn't tell anybody?!
Outside Xtra I
Ellen sounds a bit rough, is she OK?
Outside Xtra I hope they eventually release the soundtrack for ACO and this DLC, it's amazing!
You forgot the most important thing:
"It's over, Bayek. I have the high ground!"
That had me flipping
3:58. If Star Wars has taught me anything, going for the high ground is always a good idea.
Unless you're Darth Maul.
Obi-Wan was wearing his sequel armour.
I think it's more that Darth Maul was wearing his idiot ball, and decided that he didn't actually need to kill the Jedi.
In the DLC, there is literally a dialogue which says "ITS OVER BAYEK! I HAVE THE HIGH GROUND"
"While you can stealth some of it you're more likely to find yourself in direct combat..."
I assume this one is being nicknamed "The Mike DLC"
That may be annoying given i favor stealth.
That may be true but have you ever tried to stealth one of those encampments in FarCry 4 but fail so much you just decide to dive headfirst into the action and somehow win?
Ellen sounds like she was locked in a container without sleep until she finished the......ohhhhh
That seems to happen a lot to the outside extra crew
keg504 SHHHHH if jane finds out we know about that we will get the "Special" treatment
blackvial like tall ellen said "why do we even have that thing"
I haven't even finished the main game yet! Too many sidequests!
I haven't even _bought_ the main game!
I *dream* I haven't bought the game. I don't even have ever heard of it!
I 95% the main game but then they added another 10 achievments :(
There's a lot but they don't take much time at all.
I understand if you got it for Christmas tho
I beat the main story a while back, but I still have a quest log full of side quests. I'll probably have an even longer queue when the next DLC comes out.
3:00 So, as a slave you can be thrown off a cliff or 7:30 Bayek will force you to jump off a cliff, who's the good guy now?
the guy who put the physics defying hay bales at the bottom
Truly, he is the real hero

witcher 3 is awesome! it's less buggy and not as hard geralt is stronger too

So, in this DLC, you make queries about your quarry, who is in a quarry?
Timothy McLean Sounds like quite the quizzical quandary about quarry queries and they're being quarries...what a quagmire!
Timothy McLean You rock at making stone puns
Ironic Dutch Moonshade, let's not quarrel about his quaint quarry queries.
Can't make me what I already am!
Timothy McLean Will byers fake body is in the quarry
Am I the only one hearing “WISE DECISION GARRET” throughout the game??? Lol
I hear that all the time.
Me too, although I suppose it is egyptian that sounds like that
I hear ,"versay see a seh-shit. Shit-eat?"
or "gaarep we innocent"
I'm crying over this comment thread because I hear these all the time lmfao
I just finished the Hidden Ones main story and a few side quests myself. Excellent preview you made here Ellen! 3:55 Higher Ground? *I APPROVE OF THIS DLC!*
I loved the opening in The Hidden Ones and the blind dude who's singing. I thought he would just stay in the one spot, but when he started popping up almost everywhere I was before a mission...I was like pay this man lol.
You say "Wheee~!", Ellen, but when I see Bayek sliding down those ziplines, all I can think is, "Ow ow ow ow rope burn ow ow ow!"
I hope he was wearing gloves or he wouldn't be saying, "weeee", with no skin on his hands.😨
on this distance even very thick leather gloves would given him terrible burns. The only way for this functioning are solid metal plates on the inside of his hands which would be stupid and make it pretty much impossible to use his bow with any accuracy. But then again it is just a game and I am getting carried away here...
when i first saw that when i played origins i called so much bullshit, he's going to need Ezio's hook blade to make that look a lot less painful
Metabolicspore 0 Yeah you'd think bayek would be missing a lot more than one finger
What about a list of small, insignificant enemies that killed many players, somehow? Like bees and cuckos in various Zelda games and rats in Dishonored (unless you have the right bone charm of course)
That first goomba in Super Mario? The first Zombie in Resident Evil if you're playing as Chris and don't know how to use the knife?
Banquet 42 You never forget the first time being horribly slaughtered by monsters. So beautiful
Diablo had a few that where good, especially Diablo 2, those little spikey jerks in the second location that could kill you if you got swarmed but where usually easily one-shotted come to mind.
How about those guys who shoot you off a zipline in AC Syndicate? Most of the time I didn't realize I was in combat!
Genesis23OPB never happened to me, I always pick the grass type starter.
The songs? We're meant to be hidden, damn it!
5:13 WHEEE? That must be tearing his hands up! And I thought the rope burn I got climbing the local 30 kilometer mountain was bad
In brightest day, in blackest night,
no evil shall escape my sight,
let those who worship evil's might,
beware my power, EAGLE VISION!!
Does anyone else think Bayek was named by a Yorkshireman slipping in an expletive?
Alex Tomlinson It’s a subliminal message. Buy a Kayak. Or buy a Yak.
Alex Tomlinson by eck
Sdfghjklllifds Lctyigsdfgbnmbccxsa buy yak
0:47 Bayek walks past.
Man: have you seen Bayek?
We all have days like that.
What, bad coding?
outlier 07 if you ever get around to playing it youll realize the dude is blind.. and he makes a few other appearances
I hope you can call the assassin apprentice in for a fight. My favorite thing to do in brotherhood was sit on a bench, whistle, then watch chaos unfold
Ellen sounds tired..... did you spend all night playing this
I will be
can you blame her ? if its like the main game it will be awesome
6:30 "carbon crystal"? so, a diamond?
Typo. It's a Khyber crystal. Bayek is building his own lightsaber.
Riesenfriese
Yez
Riesenfriese No carbon crystal duh, c'mon man a rainbow is not a rainbow it is a multicolored circular arc.
Gamer No.1 ?
SHUSH.
I have just one question about this DLC...will there be more cats?
WildfireMagni ive played it and there are a lot of cats
SOLD!
I mean, I don't have the main game or anything, but still...
I would play the hidden one, but I need to level up my hippo in the excellent dlc, hidden hippo creed
What do I hope to find in the mountains? A free copy of Assassin Creed Origins hopefully
Cause it's totally okay to just want things without caring to support the people who put months of their lives towards making it.
Alannah TheSuccubusQueen I was just making a joke about how newly released games are expensive
Alannah TheSuccubusQueen Why are you mad
6:40 Did Bayek just smack that guy upside the head? Guess that's how they freed people back then.
It’s a good thing I’m not really all that good at stealth, I’ve gotten better but my skills really start to shine in the middle of combat and taking out my enemies one after another
Getting It today! Hope it’s good as the main story loved the game
I can see ubisoft showing the establishment of masyaf in possibly the next sequel with bayek as on the map Jerusalem is right around the corner from sinai (fyi when I say around the corner I don't mean literally) 😂
Its not a game. is damn art, I wish the Dlc was a bit lenghtier, but its still good nontheless
while i love to play more of Bayek, i would really love to play an expansion of Aya's story. She's not thoroughly developed in the main game so i want to see more of her.
so she isn't dead? Damn, nowadays you can't even trust spoiler
favorite part of this video? Ellen's Weeee on the zip line.
I hope the recruitment is like the AC 3 version where each new member brings a new skill and if they die, they return after a while, hella useful especially at full heat (which is always the heat you want if you want to go on a rampage)

They should let you be able to walk like an egyptian
elaborate?
Murc Blu Foreign types with the hookah pipes say
Ay oh whey oh, ay oh whey oh
Walk like an Egyptian
That was awesome lol
I've been waiting on somebody to finally say it and Max did. Very funny!
I got this launch day, so I've already finished all main and side quests. Been waiting for this for ages!
Finished the main game and really enjoyed it, side quests and all, so will for sure be picking this up - though I hope they don’t continue to demonize the Romans for no reason, as an ancient history major that really annoyed me
Slidejaw How long is the dlc roughly? I just want to know I am getting enough for what I am paying for
They didnt mostly, they never even talked shizz about Octavian, only Caesar and Mark Antony. Though they demonize Roman rulers in their colonies, which is very true.
@Cobble Pot I dunno man I just got it!

Do you guys think the fact that this is 4 years after the main game means that we won't get a sequel with Bayek as the main protagonist?
When does aya kill cleopatra with a snake? That has me very interested in finding out
guilmon981 cant wait!!!!
the DLC is 10 years after the main events (34)
It's four. But ten years is when she does it.
SgtSupaman
Ridiculous? Ah, no. I’ll finally be able to use my Mummy outfit.
Caesar is assassinated in 44BC, and the Hidden Ones takes place 4 years later in 40BC. Cleopatra committed suicide in 30BC, therefore 10 years. I'm willing to guess we won't see it in the next DLC.
these new mechanics reminds mo of Ghost Recon Wildlands, senu is the "drone"
BTW, Sinai is a lovely spot for vacation. Very cheap, too.
Just so you know
3:00 Hard time= enslavement, murder, getting thrown off a cliff by your captor... mmm... sounds like assassins creed 3
Micah Anthes my favorite game
Hope they continue the recruitment aspect into the second story DLC, that's the main thing that had been stuffed up since brotherhood and revelations, glad to see that they are putting some work into the brotherhood again, hope this continues into the next game as well since playing one bad ass assassin is good but being a bad ass assassin guild leader is better.
Ellen where did you get that fire axe I need it
I assume that the hidden ones will eventually split off to the assassins and templars alike considering at the end of ac3 its said that the message will be misguided creating two factions

Looks pretty good and interesting. The audio is a little out of sync during the interview portion though I think?
By 'eck there are a lot of Yorkshire men in Egypt!
Two bows? I see Ellen's love of archery is as strong as ever.
I’m loving the iconic hood 😁
Still can’t beat blood and wine
raph obviously
No dlc can it was basically a new game for 20€
Soooo true thank you for bringing that up!!!
You can't beat CD Project Red as a whole
raph I’m sorry when your competition is the Witcher 3 you know you’ve made a good game.
It’s not trying to
So I'm going to have to go in from above and make good use of my bows? Do you mean... exactly how I played the rest of the game?
Also, concentrated groups of enemies... *chucks a poison dart at one then goes and hides somewhere as they all poison themselves and die
And if everything does go pear-shaped I think I'll be OK at hand-to-hand combat, I did get to wave 16 of horde mode on my first try...
I'm that loving that flaming weapon Bayek was using in this video. I've never seen that one before. Wonder where you get it.
Ellen did any of you ask if they would finally add SLI/Crossfire support for PC?
"With fewer fences for you to hide behind on your approach and a high number of guards who can easy spot you across a gap, a stealthy approach to your target is much hard". So just Leeroy Jenkins it and play like Mike?
What happened to the spoiler warnings?
This video has me wondering, in what order do you write a script for these? do you have a good idea what your gonna say before capture? or is it mainly written after?
0:22 Ellen says: Here are six new things...
There are seven, so... Six... and a Hidden One. I see what you did there!
What's that heavy blade, stats, and where did you get it??
What I'm hopping to find in this dlc? Ellen. I'm hopping to find Ellen playing it for us :)
What about the amazing new outfit that Bayek get's? Am I the only hyped up that he has a shirt now?
Sinai seems very much like Cambadocia ( Probably spelled that wrong) from AC Revelations.
I just hope to play the game some day... But since I’m the one person excited to see Metal Gear Survive turns out to be I’m gonna be busy with that for a little while, and my second play through of The Witcher 3... Geuss it’ll more than a little while.

Watching this dlc really reminded me of Shadow of Mordor.
Any news about Layla? We kinda leave her in a bad spot at the end of Origins. Will her story be in one of the DLC's?
Does James know that there's a Star Wars prequel reference in The Hidden Ones?
Harder my arse the only difference will be no pyramid to climb beyond that been above the enemy will be as normal as jumping off a building to a cliff. The climbing ain't gonna ruin my stealth approach as that's always been my approach. Unless of course there's nothing to climb.
I wonder if the Assassin stronghold (Masyaf or something like that) from the first game will show up in one of the DLCs.
Theres about 1000 years between bayek and altiar
No the other dlc is in thebes
peter solfeldt that would ve cool. almost time to use altair outfit. it so works with this game
Why was the fist thing I thought when Ellen signed off was Bye (yek)
" *Oh! And Bayek makes them jump off a cliff...casual* " ... Well Ellen, it is better than losing a finger! Hahaha!.... wait...
Love you guys!! Thank you for making me smile everyday!!
Sometimes I forget Ellen can speak without giggling. Makes me wonder how much she giggles while recording
Was I the only one who got really excited at Ellen's Blake T-shirt? No? Just me then. I'll be quiet now.
I thought Sinai was a mountain, ONE mountain, not a rocky peninsula.
But then again, I've never been there.
Answer: pretty sure it is both.
And by the way, it's pronounced "Sigh-nigh", not "Sin-nigh". Drove me crazy.
peter solfeldt maybe you were thinking of Mt Sinjar?
Ken Williamson In Spanish, it's "See-nigh-ee"".
Ken Williamson huh I just assumed that was how people In the Uk Pronounced it
Lots of vertical areas in the main game as well.
When is that interview going up? Or has it been up and I missed it?
It's 20 minutes to midnight in where I am. Gotta play this already
i liked the dlc, but it was so short, i did all main missions, side and upgrades in like 5 hours or something
Looks like we`ve found our quarry.
Doesn’t ransacking the place you just conquered kind of dampen the whole “moral superiority” thing?
I hope in this DLC you get to see Aya
His outfit changed is that one given in the DLC or can it be obtained in the main game cause I have yet to see it
Will these DLCs be available for purchase seperately over a course of time? Or are we forced to have the Season Pass to get it?
Yer Friend It should be available as a separate purchase from the season pass as well
I haven’t completed the game yet I have to get to level 28 to start the next mission what happens if I just start the dlc now
I just now got to syndicate which is overwhelming enough in stuff to do.
Is it true that if you don’t have the hidden ones DLC that you can’t reach to level 45 then
Anyone *love* the predator bow?
Bayeks outfit looks great!
hey what will be if i press YES .... it will change the game or what ????????????????????????
