    Easily one of the big ADV bargains of the decade.
    Good mike placement: great balance between clear voice, wind noise and basso profundo of the engine/exhaust.

    So refreshing to have a video where the engine is louder than the voice, as opposed to the music being louder than the voice.Thanks for a useful review. Have a sub! 👍

    You have to put bike in 2nd gear on Center stand to disable ABS.

    I bought one new in 2012. Rode it for a couple of years and then bought a KTM1190. The ST was a solid bike just kind of boring compared to the KTM. But I will say it was more comfortable and better on the highway. I didn’t keep the 1190 for long either. I ended up buying a KTM 790 in 2019 which is much nicer due to the electronics. I’ve been tempted to buy a newer ST ES model now that they have cruise and other more advanced features. They are great bikes for touring and can handle rough dirt roads just fine with good tires.

    I brought a 2013 model. 45k km I love it. Since buying it I've realised they are (as far as I know) they least powered and heaviest large ADV bike. I don't seem to find it an issue it has ample torque and I find the power good. And considering its much cheaper than the others I can live with the couple downsides. Overall I find it pretty good

    Excellent content! I’ve enjoyed my 1st Gen enormously. Issues: cam chain tensioner failed at 34k. Annoying vibration at 3k rpm - Clutch basket (replaced with 2nd Gen basket assembly. Rear shock is woeful. Replaced with custom Cogent Dynamics rear shock. Fantastic! Leaking front fork seals at 50k. Rebuild is easy and fresh fork oil a good thing. Seat can be made much nicer by leveling it between the high/low positions. There’s how-to in the forums. Good touring, twisty carver, fire road bike. Not perfect but does so much so very very well.

    It's good to hear your KTM 1190 is finally fixed. Mine behave really well on the recent Colorado trip. Could you share what the issue with the 1190 was and what they did to it?. Thanks

    Had my 2012 Tenere for a decade now with few issues. Biggest complaint is how it runs hot at slow speeds with the fan running often.

      I have a 12 also. I was wondering about that? I have had mine for 10 months. I used water wetter in the summer not really a big improvement. Im going back to yamahacool!!

    Its tougher than a mid-sized Nissan. I'm honest, there were days I was jealous of that thing, its a mile muncher for sure.

    Understand not having two bigger bikes and for what you videos show you put it through some good test down south.

    Im actually looking at a 2012 super Tenere in Northern Colorado now! seems like an amazing bike even with higher miles but your review put some of my concerns to rest.

    Evidently you have to run it on the stand in 2nd gear and it shuts off the abs.

    Put the bike on the center stand, turn on the bike, put it in first, pull the acceleration, ABS will start flashing. Don't shut off the engine, your ABS is off.

    • @AdventureTomek
      @AdventureTomek  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Did that’s few times, for some reason this one will not disable the ABS

    • @SAB-iq1kp
      @SAB-iq1kp ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@AdventureTomek that's very strange. It allways kills the abs. Your tenere might have a problem lol.

      I have a 2022, which is the 2nd gen ST, not sure if it’s the same or different, but I have to put on center stand, then shift into 2nd gear….. let it idle in 2nd for couple seconds, and ABS is disabled. For what it’s worth Yamaha did an excellent job with ABS not being overly sensitive off road, and it’s never got me in trouble. Super reliable bike that does everything good, but nothing great. Definitely eats miles with no problems

    Having the shaft driver is crucial. From what I heard these are very reliable machines. Great video bro. It is not nimble like 650cc are, but... it is more comfortable and capable. Drop by when have time. You may like my content. :) Got my like.
