    Samuel Huntington correctly predicts the Russian Ukrainian conflict at the end of this presentation.

    • @stanko10
      @stanko10 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      No he had not predicted it, but apparently others had. He also says that it will be a test for his theory whether Russia and Ukraine will be in war. He said if HE is right there will not be a war between brothers. Whereas those others he mentions, were discussing war scenarios including "landing in Crimea", a sea war, and nukes blowing up..

      There are a bunch of political analysts and historians who have predicted the conflict (because of the historical context, NATO expansion and general lack of Western diplomatic engagement)

    To me, it seems like the internet, social media, etc., plus COVID-19 has pushed the world from a Fukuyama vision, to a Huntington vision very quickly... The student may have seemed right for a while, but the teacher was ultimately correct...

      The Fukuyama world was never there - it's just that all content first-worlders ate up before was all mediated, carefully curated by the ~legacy media, so indeed it _seemed_ to you that for a second people loved the poison of the West

    Came here for his predictions about Russia, here are times codes where it mentioned:
    12:33
    15:40
    24:30
    31:10
    1:04:00 - the most interesting part, predictions of Russian-Ukranian war.

    His work is a Bible of civilisations. God should unite humanity, Unfortunately religions are biggest cause of conflicts.

    He was wrong considering all Europe and North America as part of the same "Western civilisation" group. "Western civilisation" is a myth as it has never existed as a univocal civilisational term. His division of the different civilizations is a typical Anglo-Saxon Protestant view of the 90s and early 2000s. In fact, Anglo-Germanic civilisation, Hispanic civilisation, Russian civilisation, are way more accurate terms. The Hispanic civilisation includes Spain, Portugal and Hispanic America (including Brazil). They all have way more in common in between than what they have in common with Anglo-Germanic or Russian civilisations. "Western civilisation" is an Anglo-Saxon, Protestant, imperialist concept and geopolitical project to subordinate all other Christian civilisations under theirs. By "Christian" I don't refer to the theological part, but rather the philosophical-cultural one.

      Anglo-Germanic civilisation is a weird term though 'cos few in the west consider themselves "germanic" Are the French and English "Germanic? When did that happen? Was Germany once a big empire like the British empire of the time?

      Only Westerners say it doesn't exist. It exists , currently as Global Liberal Order . The more traditionalists and fascist types hate the enlightenment values that's it.

    Look at Europe, and the West in general

    This has also its cynical side as war in Yugoslavia was artificially created and maintained by the West to reaffirm the position stated here. Postmodernist and cynical touch. Best regards from the East, ever escaping your understanding.
