- Today we're looking at one of the BA Falcon's rarest accessories - the tissue box! It seems kind of crazy that Ford went to all the trouble of integrating a tissue box holder into the dashboard of every BA/BF Falcon, only to discontinue selling the tissue boxes after a few years? And the ones that are left are now super rare and super expensive! So how about we try and make our own?

Ha ha ha, I was the bloke that won that auction! For real - I won that auction, and another two just like it. I've got three boxes of genuine unopened Ford Tissues now :P Upon reflection... it wasn't my finest drunk purchase... but no regrets really. When they arrived I was more than happy. The tissues came in absolutely mint condition, shrink wrapped packaging - which they are still wrapped in to this day. So did the second box of tissues. Sadly the third box was a generic BF Ford tissue box, which hasn't got anywhere near the level of detail on the packaging of it, but it's still cool to have anyway. Mate, if you want photo's for scanning or anything like that, reach out to me and I'd be happy to send photos your way. Cheers
I even reached out to Kleenex about recreating them for enthusiasts, as the genuine box has an official Ford part number :P and they said that if enough interest was shown, and with Ford's permission, they would consider doing it.
They also said that the tissues used in the box are still being made, as the Kleenex Little Traveler brand, which can be bought at any Woolworths or Coles.
Congrats on the win then! That's a lot of money to spend on tissues, but I do have a feeling in a few years time (or 10) you'll be having the last laugh.
If you could assist in the scanning that would be great! I'm in Vic so locked down but plan on doing the tissue box as soon as I can!

Yeah, well everyone with a Ford now knows there whole life is deficient as they do not have a genuine tissue box. Fancy paying $325 for that. How would you know that one was original anyway?
Haha I thought I was the only one tho I have spent half an hour tracking one no luck on that tho Kleenex still make the box of tissues at chemist warehouse fits my bf falcon perfectly tho black contact film and a ford sticker does the job. No I don't have a girlfriend..

I've got both boxes that they made, the one with the pictures of the falcon and the plain blue box, that dad kept for some reason before we even owned a BA, but from when he worked at Ford so I cannot complain 😂

I always love watching your content. Your innuendo is so subtle, it's amazing.
I remember doing predelivery inspections on the BA when I was an apprentice. The tissue boxes came inside the cars from the factory, along with the wheel covers or centre caps and all the other things that had to be fitted to the car before it was ready for the customer. I haven't thought about them in years, you have done such a fantastic job with your template - it looks just like I remember!
Hey, Chris. Cn you recall the drink bottles in the Territory? I think they were a thing in the SX series, but my early SY did not come with them. Am I remembering correctly? My SY did get the plastic bumper panel at the bottom of the tailgate and the lids on the third-row storage boxes which I know were deleted soon after,

LOL great memory , yeah remember getting them when BA turbo was serviced at the dealership .... most expensive box of tissues ever , now you just get expensive bottled water . Still got my BA so will definitely make one up . Love the channel

Sorry for cluttering up the comments...but cripes, you weren't wrong about the price for the genuine article. There's a battered old one on eBay right now with a starting bid of $250 😲. I think you made the right choice going with the DIY option, looks much better.
They're all coming out of the woodwork now, I've seen one on FB marketplace too for $500.

I used to buy the tissue boxes from Coles up until about three years ago. FG Falcons have the tissue box slot as well. My FG Mk2 has a slot.
I owned a 2007 Turbo Territory for 11 years and didn't even know what this shelf was for, I ended up mounting a uhf in there,Just like life you learn something new every day lol 👍

I have purchased the Sorbent Slim 50 Pack at the local supermarket, exactly the same size and fits perfectly.
Holy bugger! I had a full box of tissues in my XR8 when I bought it! Threw it out! Unbelievable.

Kudos for going to the effort to make this tissue box and also make available the plans for others. I could see the value in a show quality car, but as an everyday BA driver, I think I'll stick to my handkerchief lol I always wondered what that shelf was for though and personally I put my phone in the top shelf hahaha🙃🙂

You could buy these at Coles, we had a VR Magna Sportswagon in '04 and the single din slot below the radio was cutout and fit the 'car tissue box' perfectly. Can't remember if it was branded 'Ford' or not, but I'm assuming there was some kind of standard size box manufactured. It was actually really handy when the kids were little.

That’s awesome as I own a Territory I’m going out tomorrow to get some tissues to see if they fit.
My SY Territory has the same slot. We used the 'factory' tissues and I did once buy a replacement at Coles in the Ford size. Must have been when the car was still reasonably new. It was Kleenex branded but I don't recall if it also still had the Ford logo. There is still a similar box available but it is not quite the right size for the Ford slot.
That's some clever stuff👍 I always thought the tissue box was supposed to be the alternative option to the ashtray but then they decided not to even make the ashtray!?......I feel like I remember reading that anyway!
Great video. I reckon the box might fit in the FG and SZ as well. While they don't have the full little shelf like the BA/BF, they do have grooves halfway up the sides of the "Breadbox" underneath the ICC, which would possibly take the box. Could you test it out in an FG or SZ? I've got an SZ, so I might give this a go soon.

I remember the family Territory coming with one of those tissue boxes! Unfortunately somewhere within 15 years and about 350,000 kms (still runs like a dream), we didn't keep the box around. Guess I'll have to give the box template a go. :)
I've always wondered why my BFs had two little shelves under the console controls. I used the top shelf space (where the tissue box goes) to install a plastic bracket and some USB/audio ports.

Thanks for a great vid 'MotoringBox'. I am strangely drawn to your videos even though I only own a current FG-X. I have a soft spot for AU as I had an AU XR8 in Galaxy Blue in 1998. Absolutely LOVE what you've done with your template there!! Please tell me, will your tissue box template work for my FG-X? Is it the same console space? I used to buy these not that long ago for my 2006 BF GT , got them from my local coles for around $8 from memory
Huh, never knew that about the BA/BF falcons, had always thought it was just another hole there in the center console for putting whatever into. Well there you go, that was designed for a tissue box. Also pretty pricey for a box of things you'd blow your nose into though, and your recreation came up pretty good too.

I remember you could get these at supercheap. couldn't find them after about 2016 in our FG
A video on the rare B series Ute tub inserts would be awesome. The inserts apparently would keep a single pallet in place between the wheel tubs.
Some Ford vehicles in the US got a similar spot for a special-sized box of Kleenex. However, it was hidden inside the center console and un-used.... Except in Texas. We keep things in there.
I had one when I got my BA xr8 long gone now put a slot in the bottom so it locks in the tab and you should be able to get normal car pack of tissues it's the same size
When i bought my falcon i fitted a passive graphic Eq in this position fitted better and is way more useful than a tissue that's for sure lol
I really like these different Falcon accessories. That makes me think the Australian market was really interesting, kinda like an alternate reality where people want to have their offices inside their car and where a tissue box is a really important item. That makes me even sadder about the death of the Australian car!
