    Thanks for this video. I just took a plunge and bought an alocasia bambino. If it starts to die off maybe I can harvest a corm or two. Trying to be optimistic but it’s already getting yellow leaves and I’ve only had it a week. So glad to hear you are feeling better. Just stay with the prescriptions and med advice.

      I hope your bambino bounces back. Sometimes it gets that way just from acclimating, so I hope that’s the case for you. It’s always great to know you can take a corm as an insurance policy though. 😊🤍🌿

    Amanda: Great video as always! 👍 So happy you did one on alocasias. 😊 I had a polly which died. Finally found a frydek which has been on my desk for a few months. Lost 3 leaves. 😥 A new one is sprouting though. I replanted it, but I didn't see corms(thank you for showing this)! If worse comes to worse, I will give it another try. I had similar experience with my colossia, but it has turned around miraculously. In this case, it is probably more of an annual and went into dormancy. I'm glad so far no major medical problems. I had to do some M.R.I.'s and other tests as well. Better safe than sorry. So, I've been through this myself. Never judge yourself by what you believe is other people's standards. That will always cause you self doubt and worry. We think you're cool just the way you are. Aloha.😎

      Aw thank you for that! 🥹 yeah alocasias are pretty tough sometimes. I’ve probably killed more Alocasias than any other plant species. But just like you said it’s good to give it another try. 😊🌿

    Do I need to give the corms lots of light or can they stay in the dark?

    Where did that support stick with the snaps come from? I need!

    • @BotanicalBrunette

      I wish I knew...I got them on plants from home depot/lowes. They're apparently orchid supports but I haven't been able to find ones with the clip...

    Do you think repotting it lower caused problems with the leaves? I know that's a no-no with trees and some plants.

    • @BotanicalBrunette
      @BotanicalBrunette  ปีที่แล้ว

      Haven’t had any issues with alocasias in particular, but maybe plants would have a problem if the stems weren’t long.

    You can either scrape the brown off the corn or soak it in water and then peel the brown off.

    I got my first Alocasia Frydek and it rotted away within a week. The roots were in a deadplug :(. No corms so I am very sad😢.

    I love liquidirt. But I thought it was a fertilizer. If not what do you use with it? I use it every time I water the plants. If I add a fertilizer do I use that every time too?

    • @BotanicalBrunette
      @BotanicalBrunette  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It’s actually a “plant food” which is confusing I know. It’s packed with vitamins and good stuff your plants love but they don’t have the NPK (nitrogen, phosphorus & potassium) that your plants need to grow. But it’s great to use with fertilizer

    So pointy side down?

    • @BotanicalBrunette
      @BotanicalBrunette  ปีที่แล้ว

      Pointy side up. I mean both ends can have a point, so the end that came off the mother plant put into the propagation substrate. Even if you accidentally put it the wrong way, you’ll still grow roots and can flip it later. I have a some good photos that may help explain better on my website. My corm blog is linked in this video’s description.
