Not only were they 'clean' as hell, but the most precise choreography you'll ever see. Back in the day, they were totally amazing to see in person. A GREAT GREAT UNDERRATED GROUP! You can never ever go wrong with the Whispers.
The Whispers went with LA Reid & Babyface to keep their sound relevant into the late 80s. Rock Steady was everywhere, even in the under 21 clubs in 1987. The two biggest songs in that summer were Rock Steady and I Want Your Sex.
This was my dance music. Even us Indigious people loved R & B. Also, my years just graduating fron High School. The twins carry this song so well. Love your reactions.🎶🎤💯👩🦳👏
For those like me who are old enough to remember Whispers pre1980’s. The interesting thing is I remember coming home this record(dating myself I know) and my mom and aunts couldn’t believe this was the Whispers. They were used to hearing them on WNJR with stuff like “Living Together In Sin. A soulful group out of California that made baby making music. So this was a game changer🎼
Hit #1 on the soul and dance charts in 1980. Leon Sylvers III with the killer bass. These dudes have so many jams - slow, mid & up tempo. They really don't get the flowers they deserve for their versatility and longevity. The most successful artists on the SOLAR label.
Hey JJ, just wanted to drop in a let you know how much i appreciate a young man watching these great r and b,funk, jazz, soul classics,i am 63 and to say i like music is like saying cake tastes good and i see that love in you....i have seen many of your vids and am very impressed with your demeanor and sense of joy at discovering this treasure trove of music..all my best,Kent in Ohio...
I would say this & Rock Steady, they were @ the height of their popularity. Another nice jam of theirs that’s slower is In The Mood. Always found it amazing how the twins voices sounded exactly alike.
You have to look up the man behind their sound Mr Leon sylvers from the group Dynasty the sound is similar all whispers up tempo songs were musically Arranged by Leon sylvers
Those of us that remember when this was released, know that this was just a year or two after Ray Goodman and Brown. We had about four years of smooth tunes from The Whispers and RG and B.
The choreography for this song was very much on point. This song went to #1 on the dance charts. Will Smith sampled this track for his song Miami. Another solid uptempo song from The Whispers that you would enjoy & should check out is- It's A Love Thing.
I played Basketball with Scottie, at the LA YMCA back in the 70’s , he was real cool, his Twin , Walter is on the other end of the stage, they both sung lead
this song reminds me of my being a high schooler in miami in the 80s racing to work in my old car on a Saturday morning to a job i hattteed at the local chicken shack..i had to wear that darn chicken suit w_ feathers in 100 degree weather😄😝....the local radio station played this song every Saturday morning..i could wait to hit the beach clubs after work
If you liked this groove, you will definitely love reacting to their other funky hit song, "Just Keep Lovin' Me". Official video: th-cam.com/video/d6aRvVTSC0I/w-d-xo.html You will also love listening to their other monster hit, "It's a Love Thing". Official Video: th-cam.com/video/23cSH7cMKBw/w-d-xo.html
Boy did i kick a foot to this on the dance floors back in the day in Ireland... For white Irish kids boy could we dance and we loved your special magical sounds of the golden days when the states had there groove on gas mark 9... proper heat for your funky feet.. keep the land of the good groove going young bro peace out...
Most R & B groups were versatile in their sounds. Not too many groups that I can recall, with the exception of the Stylistics, played only one type of song. It was always a combination of slow romantic ballads and booty shaking dance hits. This was especially prevalent when disco came along. Kool & the Gang and the Commodores are good examples of this. Dance tunes got more play in the clubs.
Disco never really went away. It just went underground in the early 80s and re-tooled into House thanks to Chicago producers. Then Detroit (Saunderson/Atkins/May) invented Techno to build on it.
Will Smith sampled ..the very beginning rift of this song I think it was Welcome to Miami..surprised you didn't pick up on this lol Great reaction and definitely a great song 😎✌
Like I said little Brother there's lot more songs by certain artists you don't know about until you get them reqwested. Looks like I'm going to have to check out stream labs. Another song that's upbeat by them is In The Raw.😝
I'm surprised you didn't comment on the sample. Will Smith used this beat for his song called Miami. You definitely have to check out Rock Steady from The Whispers
Not only were they 'clean' as hell, but the most precise choreography you'll ever see. Back in the day, they were totally amazing to see in person. A GREAT GREAT UNDERRATED GROUP! You can never ever go wrong with the Whispers.
This song was so popular when I moved to California in the early,80's. Clubs and the radio always jammed this joint. They were incredible in person.
“Rock Steady” by The Whispers is the jam too.
You would not regret “I Can Make it Better” that groove is ridiculous
So many of The Whispers songs were dance jams. "Try "I Can Make It Better", "It's A Love Thing", and of course the magic beat of "Rock Steady".
The Whispers went with LA Reid & Babyface to keep their sound relevant into the late 80s. Rock Steady was everywhere, even in the under 21 clubs in 1987. The two biggest songs in that summer were Rock Steady and I Want Your Sex.
One of my faves! Can't help but move to this. Love it.

It's nice to see someone enjoy the music I loved as a teenager👍♡

Of all the artists I've seen live, The Whispers were the most in point, sound-just-like-their- record I ever saw. They were incredible live

Appreciate the support the Kent!
Those brothers looked like twins.
"The Beat Goes On" was played to death at every gathering.Always on the radio.
Great dance tune.
We had the greatest era of tunes. Class of '81.
I would say this & Rock Steady, they were @ the height of their popularity. Another nice jam of theirs that’s slower is In The Mood. Always found it amazing how the twins voices sounded exactly alike.
Man this is the theme song to my childhood. This was always playing in my house. Still gets play on NY radio, WBLS.
The Whispers were just as comfortable being in the groove, than with their awesome ballads. They are amazing....
one of favorite groups of 80s
Another great upbeat song by the Whispers : It's A Love Thing
You have to look up the man behind their sound Mr Leon sylvers from the group Dynasty the sound is similar all whispers up tempo songs were musically Arranged by Leon sylvers

I enjoy your reactions. Great video. LOVE the Whispers! 🤗
the Whispers are the bomb, and this was the jam back in the day!
My fav is "In the Mood".
Bass line and arrangements written and produced by Leon Sylvers III.
I played Basketball with Scottie, at the LA YMCA back in the 70’s , he was real cool, his Twin , Walter is on the other end of the stage, they both sung lead
Cool!
Oh yeah. This was one of our jams back in the day. Good driving tune in the car.

Love this! Great music from the past!🙂
Whole reaction 🔥 🔥
EVEN THE INTRO SONG
This is when they got into the disco era, they had to evolve.
If you liked this groove, you will definitely love reacting to their other funky hit song, "Just Keep Lovin' Me". Official video: th-cam.com/video/d6aRvVTSC0I/w-d-xo.html

Never heard that song
I recommend All the Way by the Whispers off the Headlights LP
Black Disco ruled!
Most Artist had to have an upper tempo song on their Albums. Record Companies kinda required it to show public artist diversity
Like I said little Brother there's lot more songs by certain artists you don't know about until you get them reqwested. Looks like I'm going to have to check out stream labs. Another song that's upbeat by them is In The Raw.😝
OMG!!! I forgot about that one!!! That was the jam!!
I'm surprised you didn't comment on the sample. Will Smith used this beat for his song called Miami. You definitely have to check out Rock Steady from The Whispers
Never heard that song so that's probably why.

'Haven't heared this one'. Come on, really? Serious?
You'd be surprised how little my generation knows music like this even exists.
