I was about to say did you know Luther Vandross was the lead vocalist and member of the group since you said you did 'Change' before. That's one of their top hits ;-)
Kinda knew you'd like this one. Who wouldn't....top-tier arrangement, mixing and production, unique sound (at the time) infectious best, unbeatable vocals, and a hook that there is no escape from. This cut was absolutely insane when it first came out. I remember that I couldn't get hold of the Album quickly enough.
Luther Vandross was a session musician before Change hired him to perform on the Glow Of Love album, around the same time he also performed with Bob James "Love Is The Power", off the Sign Of The Times album and a little after that he started his solo career.
The song that introduced all of us to Luther. When it hit the airwaves and I heard it for the first time, I knew I'd love this song for forever. Still sounds as fresh to me as it did when it came out.
The title cut, Glow Of Love, was another radio hit they had with Luther. Rest is history. Glow is in the style of Never Too Much, on his 1st solo project. Great choice! Don’t forget to check the Change album after this, a tune called Paradise, featuring Diva Gray. This tune reminds me a little of Circle of One, by Oleta Adams. It starts with triangle & builds with a similar groove, but slower. This rhythm groove is called shuffle, where there,s like 3 triplet beats to very solid beat. You’ve definitely heard it before. Stevie’s Higher Ground, Isn’t She Lovely, to name 2. Also ‘80’s artist, Billy Ocean had, When the Going Get’s Tough, from the movie Jewel of the Nile, same groove rhythm. Anyway I’d highly recommend Oleta’s Circle of One album, every cut is nice. You probably would enjoy Billy Ocean too, who is West Indian. His 1st big hit was Caribbean Queen, & he seemed to have a nice pop & r&b success, crossing demographics.
I bought the 12" version of this "Cracker" in 1980 (Shit that was 44 years ago!) and with no internet in those days and no Google to go to it took me a while to learn that the the vocalist was none other than the Immaculate Luther Vandross. This a GEM!
Have you seen Lisa Fisher, How can I Ease the Pain, live? She is one of the background vocalist on this one. She is the stand out high soprano that sings "Hot hot hot . . ." Her range is phenomenal.
This song was one that Luther Vandross did in one of his concerts .Sounded amazing live. One of the greatest male vocalists of all time.R.I.P.Luther.You are missed.
Actually, Luther's first and second albums were released in 1976 and 1977, which was before this song was recorded and release. Luther also sang background for David Bowie. He wrote commercial jingles and he wrote songs for the movie "The Wiz", staring Michael Jackson and Diana Ross.
Ol'Luth bought a mess of Lalique Crystal With That Jingle money. The best part Of Waking up Is Folgers in your cup. I've got a video tape Of Luther, and Patty Austin Singing Their jingles together When I find it, and if it is still good I Should upload it for y'all.
Change was a studio production band...meaning the producers put together the songwriters, singers and players just to create the music. Luther Vandross was a session singer before breaking out on his own.
The sound and production of Italy... The funk of Italy With the sound of New York made Change stand out in the early 80,s... peace young bro The Land of the good groove is grabbing your rhythm buds... plus Luther Vandross on vocal duties adds up to class in a glass... Peace out...
RIP Luther, we miss you more than ever. Listen as well to "The Glow Of Love" which Luther also did with Change. That for me was the slightly (very slightly) better song. Try the great Lisa Fischer who was Luther's back up singer for years doing the incredibly beautiful and the incredibly hard to sing "How Can I Ease The Pain".
Okay Luther wasn't the lead singer, they were all good friends that work together in the past, The band founder ask Luther would he do two songs on the album Luther agreed on one condition "If he didn't like the outcome that they would not use them" of course the rest is History!
This beat was a sample from a song from the early 70's called Nock Nock on wood by Amy Stewart u should react to it u will love it its more of a church disco vibe
Distinctively Luther, this album was the springboard to his solo career.
Luther Vandross before his solo career....big dance hit here in NYC back in da day....their other hits

Luther Vandross was the lead singer of this group. This was b4 he went solo.
Along with Diva Grey and Jocyln Shaw (Brown)
I was about to say did you know Luther Vandross was the lead vocalist and member of the group since you said you did 'Change' before. That's one of their top hits ;-)
I think the beat may be from a Moog or Mini Moog synthesizer, or a Fender Rhodes. Lover's Holiday from this album introduced Change to the world.

Yes, you know the story like I do...
