    Recently bought the 2000 model (says 2004 on the box - green without bevel in the panel). It was sealed, unused, and had sat in storage the past couple (?) of decades. Tool rest was lightly corroded, and there’s a couple of bubbles in the chassis at honing wheel edge, but otherwise pristine. I polished the tool rest/bar, gave the leather some oil, and have had it grinding and honing - what an excellent machine. I’ve ordered some of the upgrades, including the horizontal bracket and truing tool, so it’s pretty much T8 spec aside from the micro adjust (and I’ll probably pick that up in the near future). Love this machine.

    Thanks for the great video. How do you remove the motor on the 2000 for painting the rust?

    I did not know that those sleeves where available, have bot seen them in online stores, it would have made my renovation much better looking. I now solved it with an extra xb-100, but it’s higher, so almost in the way. What is the model number of the sleeves?

    Hi Team, I own the Super Grind 2000 and received the named AWT - 250 trough today, which does not fit to the maschine. The feature which should fit to the body of the maschine does not exist on this trough. With the trough stand lose on the base of the grinder the water level does not reach the stone. Any idea how to fit this new part to the "old" maschine?
    Thanks for the spending the efforts to this video and helping to upgrade!

    Just found this video and I’m only a few minutes in.
    What upgrades would you recommend for My T-7?
    And what benefit I would get from each upgrade?…
    Thanks for your time.

    Are the T-8 motors TEFC motors? I ask because if using cbn wheels dry as recommended they produce lots of dust, i could see that becoming an issue if sucked into the motor. thank you.

    Everywhere I look the T4 seems to be avoided. I had the newer of the 2000 and loved it.
    My budget wont stretch to a T8. The T4 I can buy.
    Why is is so avoided in most videos? Was / Is it a waste of space ? Did Tormek make a mistake with this model ?
    Please what is wrong with the T4 ?

    • @TormekSharpening
      @TormekSharpening  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hej Jessica,
      there is absolutely nothing wrong with the Tormek T-4 Original. It is the perfect machine for all new beginners, hobby woodworkers and people who do not have that much space. All Tormek Jigs can be used on the Tormek T-4 as well. We are mainly filming with the Tormek T-8 Original as the machine is bigger and you can see better, what we are doing.
      Stay sharp!

      Happy you liked the video! The Tormek 2000-model has a 250 main shaft since the grinding wheels are 250 mm. But to be completely sure before you order, please send a photo and the serial number of the machine to support@tormek.se and we'll give you an definite answer.
      Good luck and stay sharp!

    Not the correct venue, but my T8 has developed a very noisy vibration.
    I have narrowed it down to the water trough.
    Matthias I believe) sent me some advice and pictures on how to “adjust” the trough elevator lugs, but I have only had limited success.
    The irritating vibration keeps returning.
    I hesitate to seek repair under the warranty as I would not like to be without it while undergoing repair.
    Any thoughts?
    Thanks, enjoy your presentations.

      Have you tried some silicone adhesive ? I would put some on the tray and let it dry , then put on the machine .

    • @RodgerMyers
      @RodgerMyers 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I bought a 2000 in 2005 or 2007 and it came with the stainless shaft . I read where the later 2000 models came with the stainless shaft .

      I have read that if you grade the standard stone with a ceramic stone , it gets close to the Japanese stone in grit ???

    Hi
    Thank you for your videos :)
    I have just acquired a Tormek super grind 4000.
    I think it was not included in your otherwise very informative Live Special. I'm a newbie to sharpening and would like some information on possible upgrades or other advice about the 4000. I find it difficult to find any information about it at all.

      could you send a picture of your machine and about the things you would like to upgrade to support@tormek.se. We will be happy to help you.

    How to prepare a new leather honing wheel ?

    • @TormekSharpening
      @TormekSharpening  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hej ec lundburg, First of all, use the oil which is supplied witht he wheel to impregnate the leather wheel to keep it soft and that the honeing paste can penetrate the leathe in a optmal way. If you have lost the oil tube, you can use e.g. sewing machine oil, an oil that not harden and has no acidity. Please register your machine and read the manual for further information and tipps and tricks, You'll find here on this channel a lot of information around sharpening and information around Tormek. /Wolfgang at Tormek

      @@TormekSharpening .....I bought the Tormek 2000 from a relative in 2016. The black leather strap on the honing wheel had shrunk over the years leaving a wide gap at the seam. I removed it and stretched it a little longer. Now wondering if you could recommend a good glue to use that will remain flexible.

    Hi Guys. I hesitate to correct you Guys excellent English, since my Swedish and German is so poor but in the interests of improvement - the water trough is pronounced “troff”. Through is pronounced “threw”. Though is pronounced like “sloe”. English is a terrible language!
