Thank you very much for doing that. This really helped me out a lot. I've got the WEN brand and it's the same process. The WEN only cost like $120 brand new. I had to buy all the tormek attachment to go with it tho. Thanks for sharing! Take care and GOD BLESS 🙏!

Bad english, but i try... when you have get good edge your chisel, turn that jig axel 2-5mm to stone and grind again. That helps turning bowls bottom, and little bowls turning. That tip is for you, its for everyone who whats that video.

Oh, This is interesting!!! Was asking if you could show tool sharpening a while back and this dose it!! Didn't realize you'd already made this!! Quite the process, from prepping the grinder to sharpening the tools!! Obviously, Steve is the King of sharpening! Certainly, it's his thing!! Nothing wrong with that collaboration!! Can see where the tool guides help stabilize and bring perfection!! Seems, setup is KEY!!!
He has mastered sharpening for sure. I guess sharpening hundreds of hunting knives has helped him with sharpening.
We need to put our new wheel on so we can true it up properly. This stone was messed up when we bought it, but Steve has found a way to get his money back out of it.

The tormek is the best sharpening machine. Tormek and all its spare parts are the most overpriced machines. But what made a big impression on me in your video is the huge torque of the small engine. Despite the great pressure with the stone from your spouse with both hands, he did not slow down at all, nor did he hesitate even for a moment.
It is the best and doesn't hesitate at all.

Tanya. I just watched your video. I have the Jet version of the Tormek. The stone that you you are flattening your grinding wheel with is not intended to flatten the wheel. It actually grades the grinding wheel to either 400 or 1000 grit. If you use the fine side of the stone against the grinding wheel you grade your grinding wheel to 1000 grit for fine material removal. If you use the course side of the stone against the grinding wheel you you are grading the grinding wheel to 400 grit for coarse material removal. There is another jig that has a diamond cutter that is intended to flatten the grinding stone. It is the Tormek TT50. The diamond cutter will flatten the grinding wheel in one pass across the grinding wheel if you don't let it get too badly worn. The TT50 is a little pricey but is works really well.
We have one of them diamond cutters and we used it once it literally ate the diamond cutter up in one use. I know this method may not be the right way but this way works for me. Thank you for the info.
I also have the Tormek supergrind 2000. I opt not to use my TT50 for it costs $100 and mine also wore out quickly after 1 use. So I use the same method as you Tanya and it works flawlessly. The end result is great no matter how it's achieved. So keep on keepin' on!

I have a super grinder tormek4, your looks similar to yours but I saw your video and I was wondering about the shaft and size of stone you were using. Thanks
That's not how the stones are trued. Does the 2000 not come with the truing tool?
Hello Keith! I do have a truing tool for the stone. When I was talking about the stone on my tormek I mentioned about the stone that was on it and how the previous owner left it in water or something. The tool doesn't work well on this stone due to the neglect. When we put the new stone on and it needs trued up I will post a video of the proper way.

Keith (guy who who'd rather be right vs nice) she knows how to use the truing tool vs. the stone grater. Tanya achieves a flat surface with the stone grater and a flawless edge on her gouges. If you'd look in any of her videos her gouges are sharp while having a burr on the edge. So maybe while not using your method of choice or the intended manufacturer tool (truing tool) the grater serves her purpose well. So Karen or Keith maybe in the New Year you can choose to be nice it's much easier than going out of your way to try to make someone look bad. I'm not sure if the trying tool is included in any of the kits, if so, my Dad lost it. Recently saw it for $110 at the store! I haven't been able to find the stone grading tool in his shop, but that one isn't so pricey. Those diamond wheels are tempting, but haven't taken the plunge.

I know we didn't get one with our new one. At least I did see one with mine.
I have one from our old one, but something is wrong with it. It messes up the surface of the stone.
@@TanyaBecherWoodturning This stone is still very new, so "should" be true. If I don't pick up a diamond stone soon, after a little more use, I'll get the truing tool (if there isn't something better). I took a machining class years ago, which should save me from doing any damage by removing too much too quickly.
I’m sorry, I couldn’t watch much. You are trying to true the stone with a stone grader. There is a trueing jig for that. Please understand I’m just trying to help, not to be critical.
No worries! I am not sure if you heard the part where I stated that the person we bought this from left the stone in water or something and it was messed up to where we couldn't use the trueing jig. The grader works well, and i have no issues with my tools performance. We have a new stone, and when we change it we know to use the truing jig.
I guess next time I will make it clear at the beginning of my video.

Thanks Karen! She has the truing jig. The stone works just fine . The end result has a fantastic surface and all her tools sharpened on the Tormek turn out great. If you're not being critical don't leave a smarta** comment. Is it your machine? Your stone? Why do you care then. Haven't you learned yet in life what works for one may not work for another? Thanks for this Tanya! I am looking for a system and thus may be it. I use a bench grinder now and some home made wood jigs for my bowl gouges. It is not ideal and removes too much material. This may be the way for me!

A slow speed grinder and CBN wheels are great too. The Tormek is awesome because you can do knives, scissors, planer blades, chisels and much much more. They work flawlessly for gouges once you figure it out.
