Just ordered mine today, this is a game changer!! I jump between two stones and a honing wheel with lots of measuring and time lost. Thank you for this!!
I recently talked myself into a sharpener, which then meant talking myself into a tormek, which then meant talking myself into the top of the line tormek sharpener and all the accessories. All in, I broke the bank for sure, but man o man do they make top quality stuff. Even the swivel is engineered beautifully. I thought “$60!” but went ahead and when it arrived realized it’s actually quite reasonably priced, not some dinky lazy Susan, it locks in place and holds the sharpener securely. The quality of the sharpening is off the charts and I now have to be super careful when washing my knives, unlike when they were dull and forgiving. I can also be more aggressive which chisels as I can so quickly make them sharp again without dragging out all the hand sharpening supplies. I probably wouldn’t have taken the plunge just for a knife sharpener or just for a chisel or plane sharpener, but when I factor in all the things it does very well, I justified the purchase and am quite happy. This is the ultimate “buy once, cry once” purchase. I’m confident this system will outlive me, and no more whet stones and achy hands.
Recently received this new jig here in Canada. Great product delivery distribution from Tormek to Suppliers. The manual is very concise and simple to follow. I then re-watched this video which made the procedure even more simplistic. Basically, 1. Set the protusion; 2. Set the angle. Done. You are ready to sharpen. The sharpened apex is "bang on" the selected angle setting. Thank you Tormek for a truly wonderful jig!
I bought a tormeck over at least 20 some years ago and it still works great today but you have made some very nice improvements especially in some of the holders and the knife angle gauge im going to get because the original one I got with my machine I dont really use because its easier to just eyeball the angle.
Now that _is_ nice. I usually freehand chisels' and planes' working edges, but still a pity something as foolproof can't devised in place of the anglemaster, which always seems a bit woolly 'round the edges.
Hi guys, good to see you again. This looks like a great tool for setting and I can't wait for it to be available here in the UK and I can add it to my jig collection. Well done on another world first innovation. Regards Paul.
I haven’t owned my T4 long, so it was handy that I saw this video. I like precision so this new jig along with the jig for guided honing will be on my purchase list in the next week or so. Even before I buy the rubber mat and swivelling base. Being a bloke I am quite happy spending money on toys.
This is not a nessary tool but it is very useful. Thanks guys for always making things better. My question is when will yall make a better diamond stone? There are better ways to suspend the the diamonds now that won't rust. I'd rather pay a little more for a stone up front than keep buying antirust juice Just wanted to say yall are awesome! I have a SG2000 it'd upgraded and the only thing I can't do is lift Ms water trough with a twist of a knob. I'm sorry if I sounded displeased. I am nothing but impressed and super happy with everything yall make
Thank you! We're happy you think this new accessory can be useful 😊 We are always looking to improve and develop our products further to fit the demand of our users, so we appreciate your thoughts! Our diamond wheels have a stainless steel core but when steel particles from the tool being sharpened build up they will eventually corrode. That's why we recommend using the ACC-150 Anti-Corrosion Concentrate to prevent the wheels from getting affected by said particles. If you get the KS-123 Knife Angle Setter we'd be happy to hear what you think! Stay sharp!
do i have to buy the MB 102 if i want to sharpen against the stone rotation but then hone with the leather wheel rotation? rot do i have to use the front for sharpening and honing if i don't have the MB 103
The KS-123 Knife Angle Setter can be used both with the grinding wheel's rotation (edge trailing) as well as against the rotation (edge leading). But when it comes to controlled honing we recommend the MB-102 Multi Base which gives better access and clearance for the knife jig 😊 You can learn more in the episode for the MB-102 Multi Base: th-cam.com/video/uNupoAP5gAU/w-d-xo.html
I notice that in your demonstration the arm showing the angle moves very freely. I recently received mine and the arm does not move unless physically moved. I will need to try and loosen the hex nuts at the top and bottom in hopes that mine will work as it is meant to.

@@TormekSharpening Thanks, Hugo. Sorry about my mistake of your name. Have you had a chance to investigate my 2nd comment/question regarding the protrusion distance. Thanks. Looking forward to your response. And, yes this jig seems to be a winner. I have preordered one from my supplier here in Canada. Regards to all, Norm. 🍁🍻
If you are sharpening on the standard stone and set you protrusion distance on that stone. And then you change to a japanese stone with a different diameter do you adjust the protrusion distance to the japanese stone. I would be of the opinion that the angle would of course change and it requires adjustment.
Hej Colt3854, You need only to click the KS-123 onto the JS Waterstone and adjust the height of the Universal-Ssupport to the desired angel. When you have ground a lot of material from the blade you have the do the complete adjustment, even the step 2 - the setting of the protrusion.
When setting the protrusion does it matter if you set the distance from the stop to the bevel on the flat part of the knife or where the blade starts to taper towards the point?
Hej ianweatherley2467, when setting the protrusion, place the edge into the v-shaped part of the KS-123 and press forward until the jig's flat part is against the Universal-support, lock the KS-123 with the screw on the side, then adjust the height to the desired angel.
On the Tormek T-4 with the MB-102 and the standard support bar I cannot position the KS-123 like shown at 15:27 because the leather wheel is closer and the snapping part alignes directly with the threaded section of the aupport bar. Any Ideas to work around this? I really would have liked it for honing also.
Hej, I tried it right now and it works fine with the T-4 and the MB-102. Maybe you have to adjust the distance horizontally or the hight of the Universal support. //Wolfgang
Is there any plan to incorporate the KS-123 and MB-102 into the HTK806 kit? and also can the KS-123 be used with the SVM-00 when using with a pocket knife (Swiss Army Knife) as the angle needed to be set for each side due to offset blade.
Hej DanianSlade, there are some different plans. Regarding the Swiss Army knife, you have to set both sides individually due the offset blade. Personally i adjust no specific angel due the fact the bade is all the way tapered and I don't like to have a wide bevel on that blade, it is otherwise so delicate. I aim optically for a 1/4 mm bevel on both sides. The steel is very mild to and i use 1000 grid or less, depending of the condition of the blade.
Hej Roger-jk3dq As you sharp them in a very steep angel on the outside of stone and hone it in the arches it is not of a help. When sharpening on a specialised wheel for the serrated knives it may show a bit of difference, due the tops and the deeper points of the wheel, as you can only measure on the tops.

If the Tormek could be reversed like just about every other copy on the market it wouldn’t need to be turned around to strop and there would be no need for the additional bracket.
When you would use a reversed motor, you would loos much more vital function which the copies not have, with the MB-102 you can sharpen edge trailing and with the RB-180 you can rotate the machine easily. Hej, The KS-123 is precise, the other methode with hte WM-200 Angelmaster has a deviation of the halve of the tapering of the blade, meaning you get e.g. 15 degree target a 15 degree target angel plus the tapering ca.. 1-3 degrees additional.
