I've read lots of comments that say "good elbow" or "why he was wrong? No elbows in sparing without elbow pads mate. Might as well not wear gloves and go bare knuckle if you're just gonna be hitting your partner with the "sharpest" bone in your arm
Just a heads up its atory time boys n girls. Watching this git me feeling nostalgic and even started reminiscing. So, for abt 6yrs trained Thai boxing/Muat Thai under kru kongnapa "kong" Lumpa even fallowed or would meet him up at diff fight gyms for training. Every now & then there were ppl from a fight team or just repping the gym where they trained would be in the middle of camp preparing for a fight in diiferent sanctions, category like smokers/amateur, pro-am, or pro. There was absolutely no elbow in during sparring. Unless under certain conditions. For example in my case only because the of similarity in height and weight and I'm hopefully assuming the skill level LOL. I was asked i could help with being sparring partner? They were in need of sparring partner who was a pro fighter. I felt honored so of course I said yes. Then I was asked to gear up but also asked if I already had headgear elbow pads, and a cup...i was then instructed to put them on! Let me just say from my own experience fighting in a smoker. Especially because this was the first time sparring with a pro idk but it felt like I never saw when the elbow was being thrown. Like the first two rounds were like, oh shit, wtf, then it clicks and its like this is so cool that are usually never used in class or during a training session. So a lot of respect and trust is learned real quick... The End 😅
Honestly, I think he hit Sanchai by accident with his elbow, you can see look on his face like “Oh sh!t, I didn’t mean to do that.”, but it was too late 🤣😂😂😂

No elbows and knees to the face when sparring. You’re not there to hurt your sparring partner. Once inside the ring, Muay Thai allows knees and elbows.

There’s an unspoken agreement between a profesional with hundreds of fights who is arguably one of the best muaythai fighters on the earth, VS you. He doesn’t try to kill you, and you don’t take that kindness for weakness.
He needs to put headgear to protect himself so he don’t get upset when he’s on the receiving end. A good coach should expect his students to do their best. That’s how they learn to prepare for real fight.
