After we got our roll cage out of the Jeep and prepped it for a coat of primer, we're a bit less happy with some of the welding on this thing. This being the one thing we really want to be able to trust IF we ever need it, we might have to rethink this when the time comes to start putting the Jeep back together.
I just drove from Bend, OR to Palmdale, CA to pick up my grandparents 1977 CJ5 they gave me. Tags on it are from 91. I don’t know anything about the Jeep platform, but I’m looking forward to a frame-off restore. Thanks for the video.
Oh wow! That sounds like a fun project for sure! I've tried to share the areas where things went sideways on my project so as to prevent others from making my same mistakes,. Hopefully you'll find these videos helpful as you work on your project.
Just stumbled on your channel through the TH-cam wormhole. I brought my 77cj5 to NM last thanksgiving. I had it stored in Arkansas for two years. I bought mine in ‘98, I can’t imagine having one sit so long. Looking forward to your other episodes.
Welcome! You'll probably find that yours doesn't have the rust issues that mine did after all the years here in Utah where the roads get salted in the winter. Thanks for watching!
Well, this cage is sort of "both". The back half is the factory original, and then someone (not me) welded in the front posts. I've had this jeep for over 20 years, probably closer to 25 years, but it sat for a long time without turning a wheel.

Was that roll cage factory built or is that an aftermarket cage? When did you buy this Jeep?
