In my world demons play an important role of how evil got into the world. Especially Demogorgon. I useally role play him as Godzilla and sometimes with the MonsterVerse personality where he also has a personality and laughs at the pain he causes.
Thank you for watching! This channel has been a great excuse for me to take deep dives into Lore as well. Also, while the two mix, enjoying the world and lore of DnD and the actual TTRPG experience are completely different, I encourage both sides to check out the other!
Demogorogn has always been one of my favorite parts of dnd lore so much so I’ve made him the overarching threat of 2 homebrew campaigns one do which is till going and it is fun to have a truly vile and chaotic force be this villain that’s pulling the strings and ruining the world around the party.
Stopped playing AD&D (that is how long ago it was) just before the 2nd edition was released. I enjoy the lore and have been tempted to start playing again. However, the costs of the books and the amount of books available has gotten out of hand. I just can't justify those expenses to myself.
Yup books prices are ridiculous, especially if you want physical and digital. Thankfully most of the lore is still out there in some fashion and DnD at its core is more of an idea than a product. At least that’s what I believe, average player doesn’t need anything more than a few core books, and even then you can find all of that online.
Story idea. Demogorgon defeats Orcus and starts to gnaw on the Wand. As long as he keeps gnawing, Orcus cant form any powerful body. Then story ensues.
Ya, I didn’t mention it by name but did get some info from it. I find it a bit tough to incorporate lore from adventures, as determining a “canon” is really done afterwards since the players have many options
@The_NaturalOnes if I remember correctly...Demogorgan was "spontaneously" birthed by the abyss from one of the first mortal souls to enter it or the collective despair of intelligent creatures. The concept of good vs evil wasn't really a cosmic concept until about the Battle of Pesh. Prior to that it was essentially Law Vs Chaos. Demogorgan's birth was what brought attention to the Tanari and the Queen of Chaos began to cultivate them as a subservient race. I'm also surprised that you didn't mention that Demogorgan's rise was engineered by Dagon for whatever desires that his dreams foretold. At least in 3.5. This was the inspiration for 4ths lore
@@jikjikrodriguez Ya his origin changes pretty much by edition, but I actually did not see any of the stuff you mentioned about his rise being engineered by Dagon. Do you know what 3.5e book that was in?
@The_NaturalOnes neither it was in Dragon Magazine...apparently Dagon has a thing for raising up Civilizations and then destroying them. He did this to the Koa Toa and one of the obrylith races (it was the race featured in the article) and other beings. Dagon spends eons raising the civilization to its heights them engineering it's destruction. Driving his victims to insanity is another common theme from what I could gather. It's even hinted that Dagon was the bone who plotted the downfall of his fellow obrilyths and is using Demogorgon to set the eventual Tanari demise as well. Dagon keeps Demogorgan from unifying his two personalities and thus prevents him from regaining his sanity and drives him further to insanity
Demogorgon is a lesser god in both ADnD and in 2nd edition and clearly the most powerful Demon in the game. In BECMI he was an immortal, basically a god. 5th edition Demogorgon is the weakest version yet. Not impressive at all, Orcus is probably more powerful.
I didn’t really give a power level here but that’s just in 5e, and that can be credited in part to making them compatible for their respective adventure modules. In lore Demogorgon is sometimes said to rival Asmodeus in power
@@The_NaturalOnes my preferred headcanon, that the two are the respective opposite power of each other. And they are equals, if not in cunning, at least in sheer power.

As someone who was never able to play D&D having channels like these that let me enjoy the lore is amazing.
Thanks for the work you do!

Demogorgon is so powerful that 3 kids and their friend with telekinesis powers can defeat it
Shout out demigorgon 😉
A man of class I see, shout out to Demogorgon
Shout out to demogorgon
I'd like to see you discuss Dagon and Juiblex
I do have a video on Dagon, link in the description, Jubilex would be a great vid

Just grab some older edition books and make up your own lore.
@@temmy9 exactly, that’s good enough for games, but obviously not for reporting on the lore

Her name wasn't sticken from time, we never onew her real name, and we call her the queen of chaos.
This demogorgon never misses
True
I'm surprised you didn't mention Savage Tide.
One of the best Paizo Arcs in 3.5....that and Age of Worms
