@drjudy….hi dr Judy…I’m wondering what advice you could give me when it comes to my 6 year old male chi that has cysteinuria(super rare condition that makes him produce cysteine bladder kidney stones cuz he doesn’t process the amino acid cysteine properly) and with this they usually want to reduce the protein and I just found out he has a heart murmur so I don’t want to do that and I haven’t but my concern is that they say that giving him taurine etc could make the stones worse…is that true? How do I treat both ???

What about the commercial, raw (or gently cooked) foods that still have a synthetic vitamin and mineral mix added to them? It is really, really hard to find even those natural foods that don't still have synthetics in them. They're not processed kibble, which is obviously fantastic, but they're still not quite 100% natural. Do we just not worry about it?

I am hearing a lot of different opinions about , yes supplement with Taurine even your dog have no heart problems , other people say only if heart problem exist use Taurine. Dr Morgan please can you comment about this ?

It depends what you are feeding. If you are feeding a high-meat/fish diet that is high in natural taurine, you may not need to supplement. If feeding commercial, highly processed food, than you might want to supplement. There is no toxic dose of taurine.

As far as the goat milk goes 1%, 2%, or 3.5%? Can't get unprocessed goat milk. My dog and cats do not like fermented goat milk.

Is raw grass fed organic cows milk (with the cream) good if you cannot get raw goats milk?

Higher in fat. Good if your pet tolerates it.

Thank you Dr. Judy! Do you feed raw wild sardines for Omega-3s? What is a good reputable source for this please? Thanks 🙏

Yes and they provide vitamin D. I get whole frozen sardines from Hare-Today and also use Wild Planet.

My Leroy loves dates, lol. I only give him one here and there due to the potassium and his kidney disease though.....maybe one a day will be okay, I've never really calculated it into his diet. He doesn't have heart disease but he is old, so I want to do things for his heart. He does get heart every day, it's my fave organ for him. He also gets liver every day, lamb liver and beef liver. I have pork liver to add soon, too. He also gets 2 whole eggs every single day. Sardines not so much because I usually forget (I only use frozen, whole sardines) and they're high in phosphorus.
I love your 'feeding for' whatever videos. Food is all I've done for my dog since he almost died in October 2020. Sadly, he was kibble fed prior to being diagnosed with KD, IVD and then pancreatitis. Now he's 100% human grade food fed, mostly gently cooked, but some raw. I wish I'd discovered your videos long ago! I think I only did in the last few months. I live under a rock, lol.
I'm so grateful you share your wonderful knowledge!

Watch the beef liver daily and I would switch to chicken or turkey liver for daily eating as beef liver is super high in copper and can be an issue of eaten daily plus smaller birds are more species appropriate for a cat anyways
