  • We’ve all heard the dictate that a calorie is a calorie regardless of its source. But are all foods truly created equal in terms of how they affect our health and weight? Given the barrage of competing information directed at us every day, what do we really know about healthy eating? Speakers: Christopher Gardner, PhD and Robert Lustig, MD.

Friend of my mine has become addicted to getting an injection to lose weight all the time. He is back and forth on this all the time now. Apparently it suppresses the appetite and makes you lose weight. He claims 5 pounds in a week. I showed him how the math on that was nearly impossible for his weight. He couldn't understand. No wonder he needs an injection. He doesn't understand it takes 3500 calories to make a pound.

I began eating only food that helps control my chronic inflammation and no foods known to worsen it. I added magnesium and B vitamins. Now most of my pain is gone. This was a fantastic talk. On whole milk consumption being down, I still drink whole milk and people look at me like I'm crazy. So glad they called out skim milk for being the biggest scam. Add water to your whole milk and it tastes exactly the same. So basically, you're paying $4-5 per gallon and most of that is filled with free tap water. Whoever did productivity for dairy companies should have gotten a fat bonus for that idea

Losing weight isn't as complicated as anyone believes. I lost over 80lbs in last year. If you want to lose fat you need to train hard and eat clean. This is my story, the things started to change after I got diet from Next Level Diet. It was plain simple and pretty easy to follow... Training was something like home workout (three times per week). I lost 12lbs of fat in first month already, it felt amazing. You also have some other online diet helpers, but believe me personal trainers are too much expensive.

It’s super sad. Unfortunately, we can’t rely on the government to look out for our health. We have to take our lives into our OWN hands. I have cut sugar and processed foods out of my family’s lives. It was tricky with our kids (ages 8, 6 and 5) but they are doing great. No it wasn’t fun getting them off sugar. They were literally junkies. It had to be done. Keep up your fight Dr. Lustig! In 28 years of marriage my wife has cooked 2 meals and i'm completely ok with that. a few days after we were married i saw my new bride open the refrigerator and just stand there blankly staring inside. Then i literally saw her shoulders drop and could almost hear her silently thinking "what in the heck am i going to make this guy for dinner?" i could see the stress on her face. i jumped up and said.. I GOT THIS! I poured her a glass of wine and ushered her to the couch. i make the lists, do the shopping and we dine like royalty.... thanks to those early cooking lessons from my mother. no matter how tired i might be, i get a second wind when i cook for her.

We were both lean, healthy, and always had energy. I played every sport I could find, we went camping frequently. Ever since moving out onto my own, I have slowly put on weight, leading to health issues, and I almost never have energy. The only change I made was in what I ate, not a ton of fast food, but a lot of processed foods, cereals, bread. I wish I knew at the time how important diet would be in my life, and followed her lead. Love you mom, miss you more and more every day...

A hero David fighting goliath providing the depressing truth.
Vitamin D is good for depression and deficiency is a significant worldwide problem contributing to disproportional deaths from coronavirus and at least four of the top things that kill us, proven in a double blind study. The evidence is clear and published by NIH, but it’s communication sister in HHS, the CDC has not said one word about supporting our immune systems to fight the battle within.
Please join the fight by promoting concepts in this letter:
WH, Congress, CDC, ETC Missing the Immune-System-Rescue Boat:
This is a 5-minute proposal with criticality that becomes clear in 5 seconds.
      PROBLEM:
War on COVID-19 is waged externally,
but ignores the internal immunity battlefield.
CDC’s COVID-19 website and public service messages do not alert the public of widespread micronutrient deficiencies, critical to immuno-competency,
such as Vit.D, in over 69% of Elders, and People of Color.
Correlation of D-insufficiency with severity of COVID outcomes is mounting from multiple sources.
Dr. JoAnn Manson of Harvard, in a 4-minute video, notes:
“...70% lower risk of respiratory infection with vitamin D supplementation.
...the evidence is becoming quite compelling.”
      www.medscape.com/viewarticle/930152
HHS’s NIH&CDC and ODPHP (created by Congress to “lead disease prevention and health promotion efforts”) do NOT deny criticality of deficiencies, nor benefits of supplementation, as shown in their publications; summarized/quoted herein.
According to HHS, preparing for and preventing disease is a CDC directive... Unfortunately, proactive mitigation of immuno-incompetency is absent in their return plans, website, and public service messages.
      PROPOSAL:
CDC should be instructed, through Congressional oversight committees, to promote immune-system optimization for the public and healthcare professionals and institutions.
It will not be necessary to convince HHS agencies of their own findings.
Guidelines can and must be implemented quickly.
CDC needs a battle plan that powerfully promotes:
      1. Optimal Immunity-Critical Micronutrients,
      2. Multiple Immune-System-Building methods,
      3. Internal Viral-Load-Reduction Techniques.
      PRACTICAL PROOF:
The known cure is our immune system… enhancing it is our best weapon on the internal battlefield.
The following is gathered only from various HHS agency publications, IF we search the Google jungle:
      FACT-1:
Most COVID infections present no, few, or manageable symptoms, while others suffer or die, ultimately due to immuno-competency differences.
      FACT-2:
Eleven micronutrients, especially A, C, D, & Zinc are critical to immune response.
      FACT-3:
      Widespread, hidden deficiencies of D:
      69% Hispanics,
82% Blacks, and similar for Elders, are found in these disproportionately impacted groups.
Overcoming D- deficiency provides a long-term, far-reaching improvement and overall health:
double-blind proven to improve a range of health outcomes:
from osteoporosis fractures, to depression, dementia, and major illnesses, including
cancer (also immune-system responsive), cardiovascular disease, and diabetes.
      FACT-4:
Some micronutrients are useful at much higher levels than RDA.
Doses 7X RDA are safe and beneficial for most.
77% of Americans claim to take supplements, yet 42% are D-deficient, rarely tested, and unlikely to know if they are!
      FACT-5:
“Zinc promotes immune functions and helps resist infectious diseases.”
“...supplements reduce...respiratory infections, lowers...deaths from all causes.“
      FACT-6:
Not everyone is aware of methods to remove viral load from mouth, nose, and throat, or of
      other physical immunity-building techniques.
      FACT-7:
“Micronutrients are exceptionally deficient in patients suffering from mental disorders.”
(As my psychiatrist would say, “Does that tell you anything?”)
      PREDICAMENT:
We have invested in health information that has not been effectively delivered.
Dependency on the “Google Jungle”, (which can “confuse the health out of us”!) is letting us all down... with disjointed, difficult to decipher, government health publications.
      Example:
ODPHP lists RDA of D 600iu for adults under 71, (50% more than previous; still often sold/mistaken as 400iu)... while separately publishing safe “max” doses: (ex. 4000iu. of D...much more effective in achieving optimal levels).
10,000 to 20,000 ui can be gained by sun... if not washed off.
Failure to advise “stay-home“ compensation for little sun, is just one example of enabling compromised immune systems to contribute to transmission.
Which politicians will win hearts, minds, and votes in this call-to-action?
      POLITICAL SOLUTION:
The Democratic Presidential contender’s 4-Step Return Plan, is missing the 1st step...optimizing immune systems!
Presumptions that politicians can do nothing, due to Pharma influence, are overcome in an optional “Additional Proposal Support” topic below.
The pandemic presents an unprecedented opportunity to elevate personal health permanently, and address our 75% preventable disease load…and its impending bankruptcy of governmental medical insurance.
Regardless of the structure of our costly insurance programs, salvation/solvency depends on preventing illness...
not just figuring out who gives, gets, and pays...
A Penny of Educational Prevention IS Worth a Dollar of Cure.
Politicians who promote this type of permanent-benefit proposal will win.
      If not; we all lose.
Winning on the battlefield within, is a best way to mitigate severity AND protect the future of our health, insurance systems, treasury, and sanity.
      Embarrassingly delayed?
“Better late than never” was never more urgent.
Filling the immune-system communication gap is a best tactic for our government representatives and hopefuls.
Further NIH-published support and details below, are not needed to take action now.
      ----------
      PROPOSAL SUPPORT:
Even with vaccines, there is ultimately one cure...
      a successful immune response.
Governments haven’t been proactively providing immune-system protection info.
      However, Google, overly relied upon by government, contains the following NIH-published summary of a multi-study review;
      by scientists from BAYER!
      Their conclusions:
“...the immune system needs specific micronutrients, including A, D, C, E, B6, and B12, folate, zinc, iron, copper, and selenium, which play vital, often synergistic roles at every stage of the immune response.” ...
      “Adequate amounts are essential to ensure proper function of physical barriers and immune cells;
however, intakes necessary to support immune function may be higher than current recommended dietary allowances.
...even marginal deficiency may impair immunity.
...supplementation may modulate immune function and reduce the risk of infection.”
      FALSE PHARMA BLAME:
Explanations of why CDC and other official health organizations are mum on immunity-building, based on pharma influence,
      (as the Supreme Court allows!),
      don’t fly when shot down:
Pharma may influence, but has not enough funds or network of secrecy, to control HHS/NIH/CDC and Congress.
      1. Specialized drug profits are not significantly jeopardized by supplements.
      2. Pharma is best-positioned for opportunities in patient-customized micronutrients, tuned for age, race, conditions, medications, vitals, genetics, etc.
      3. Vaccines and profits, are tenuous, sporadic, irrelevant at the moment, and much less likely to work in micronutrient-deficient immunesystems.
Vitamin therapy isn’t going to kill Pharma....
But it’s killing us to underrate and under-educate.
Still not convinced immune-system support is a critical weapon…or that people will respond?...
Look at the now more rapidly growing, mental-illness “side of the pandemic coin” in an NIH publication:
”4 of 10 leading causes of disability are mental disorders...
studies show a lack of certain dietary nutrients contribute to the development of mental disorders.”
“Notably, essential vitamins, minerals, and omega-3 fatty acids are often deficient in the general population…
and are exceptionally deficient in patients suffering from mental disorders.”

It's absolutely possible to prepare your own food even when working full-time and not having anyone at home taking care of that for you. All you need is the right way of cooking. The food industry told us for decades that it's very difficult and time consuming to prepare food. It's not.
Buying a high speed blender was a true game changer. E.g. for work I often prepare a smoothie (fruit, seeds and oatmeal) plus a soup of some legume (which I have soaked over night if necessary). All it takes is add some spices to the legume, mix all and you got a soup to take to work. The whole thing takes me an extra 10 minutes in the morning.
Another thing which I found very helpful is to cook a bit more e.g. in the evening so you can put half of that in the fridge for the next day. A bit of planning helps save tons of time. Once you get into the habit the effort of cooking becomes negligible.
By the way, Lustig is telling nonsense about German wine. Not only do they not put sugar in it but it's actually illegal to do so (only the cheapest so-called "Tafelweine" may have added sugar - don't buy those). Also in the wine regions the grapes get very much sun. Probably his "knowledge" of wine is very outdated (don't call "Liebfrauenmilch" German wine - nobody in Germany is drinking that shite :-) ).

A lot of the time you don’t even have to yo be in the kitchen the whole time. Again I’m working on getting a part time job while I’m school and I can still see myself cooking as well. Great presentation with life changing and saving potential. One can hear the passion in his presentation as well as see the time and work he and his team put in obtaining information supporting his findings. I am that rare soul who has always had questions not addressed for info I was receiving. They generally came from a natural feeling place that, by my observation of the curcumstance, did not fully explain what I'd observed. This annoyed many instructors and was pleasing to the best instructors. I wonder which category he would fall under if I was one of his students.
I was stumbled on this video and was pulled in when I tuned in to his commentary. I just hated that at every opportunity he stopped short of, what I'm sure he is fully aware of, calling it all an attack on all of those aware and not aware. I even noticed cover as in one case he exampled stating that if a particular government saw certain numbers they would have shut it all down decades ago. As there's no ones job to look for the info he descibed and still wasn't up to the filming of this presentation. He named Nixon, and if he knows about Nixon's role, then he knows about the circle of politically powerful people who were part of his admin. Not to mention his mentors and those he was closely affilited with, who coincidentally also became POTUS's and went steps further in making our food supply what it is today. Not to mention the health conditions common today that are consequent of those actions. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that he became part of one of the major industries that benefits, even today, from the way the food industry operates. He even stated "they didn't teach us about this in medical school" and "I knew this and they beat it out of me".
In hearing his intelligent and detailed presentation he knows he should be an activist/whistleblower. I say that but understand that he also must be aware of such a path and the real dangers it would certainly pose. The man went so far as to detail how it effects global affairs as well as the stock market. In this nation, there is where you'll always find hidden evidence of intent and who the orchestraters are; where the money ends up. As they say follow the money.

Also, if I do happen to eat something processed, I can taste a lot of sugar and chemical-ish tastes. I made my husband fajitas, yesterday, with a prepackaged/ processed sauce and I couldn’t stand the taste. When I was diagnosed with PCOS (polycystic ovary syndrome) a few years ago I decided to try a low sugar and low carb diet. Now my acne is under control and so are the 'cysts' in my ovaries. Also I am finally back again to a normal weight and I don't get cravings throughout the day that make me overeat. Best decision I have ever made but I had to do all the research by myself because if I had listened to my doctor(s) all I would have had to do would have been to take extra hormones to address the problem.
I can't believe how to this day cutting on sugar not only is not the first suggestion a doctor would give to their patient, but it's often not even contemplated as the potential solution to many health problems.

Anything really. The things I tend to avoid are the refined carbs and sweets, as well as processed meats and processed meat alternatives - although I will treat myself every once in a while :) And I walk a lot! It's the easiest way to exercise for me and it helps keep stress cortisol levels down, which really can make PCOS worse. I refuse the pill way too, it just masks the symptoms but once you go off it everything just comes back and personality I have found that it influences my mood and keeps me down which I really don't like.

It's so exciting to have someone new join the crowd! As someone who also sees the corruption and misinformation coming from the government and mainstream, I have some advice:
      1) don't lose hope. With all the things you'll be learning, it's sometimes hard to feel like things can change. Just remember that there are plenty of people who care about the truth and are standing firm in their values. And if you feel the stress physically, take a little break from the TH-cam binges and enjoy something that makes you feel good--be it time with friends, a comedy show (I reccomend The Office ;P ) or some music and a hot shower.
      2) as you go down the rabit hole, be careful not to believe anything you hear simply because it disagrees with mainstream and makes sense. The misinformation doesn't stop just because you pull away from one version of rethoric. Keep an open mind to everything and be ready to shift your views around as you learn more. Sometimes mainstream people will be right about things so continue to hear them out as well, even if they're closed minded.
That being said, enjoy the journey!!! ✌😁

The more you dig, the more you will find. I was fortunate to be raised knowing all these things, I knew more as an 8 year old about health, the environment, the government than most adults will ever know if they stay blind. It wasn't enough to stop the temporary brainwashing by society when I was a young adult and wanted to be nothing like my parents. Thanks for the negligence of doctors due to me being "too healthy to have medical problems", a domino effect happened and now I have medical problems that are shocking them, but not me, which include kidney disease from ibuprofen prescribed for dismissed severity of pelvic pain, 30 years later an urgent care doc told me about endometriosis and told me to demand a surgery, he was sure I had it and believed all doctors who do this to women should lose their licenses, we'd be out most doctors. A lifetime of physical and mental stress on my body led to interstitial cystitis. Also took years to diagnose because I was a picture of health and doctors thought it was all in my head. I also have chronic fatigue from 28 yo, after a virus, now the science has found viruses to be the cause of CFS but doctors still ignore it. The kidney disease, btw, I found I had by accident when I started dissecting my labs, my doctors ignored it for 2 years and thought it was a fluke due to lifting weights and lean/ muscular physique, autoimmune disease-not sure if that came before the kidneys since this is the first time that they've done their job and gone beyond routine labs. Nope sure wasn't. I've come full circle and am my own scientist and doctor. Getting rid of all their drugs that don't do anything but cover symptoms, which keep you sick and lead to more illness. I use my labs and know what every single one is, btw, don't fall for the normal is good lie. There are optimal levels. I compare my labs to scientific studies and then find natural treatments. Slowly I am curing the problems they created despite my lifetime of healthy diet and fitness. The anger has been replaced by gratitude for my upbringing and value in my healthy. Being healthy won't stop you from getting illness, there are too many outside factors involved, but it sure will fight for you in a way that I never understood until now. Even with autoimmune illness (thanks to being ignored and kept chronically inflamed) I have 100% confidence in my immune system. It is solid, beyond rockstar status, it has been in ultra fight mode since I got chronic fatigue, yet with a chronically inflamed body that was slowly destroying itself, my loyalty to a healthy lifestyle, rewarded me by keeping colds, flus and infections at bay. Covid? Please, I dare it to try. I have no fear of anything, my body is healing, I know the power of health and education. I am empowered by my illnesses, I am stronger in every way because of them. I am more knowledgeable about the human body, viruses, bacteria, fungus, every aspect of medicine, than I ever imagined I would be because of a dirty system.

@@someoneusa There is always so much more to learn and improve. Germ theory is a fraud. Viruses that spread and cause disease are a fraud. CFS has nothing to do with a virus that came from outside and infected you. It has more to do with your diet causing general inflammation, leaky gut and bacteria and fungi unbalance in your body, than anything else. "Healthy diet" that consists of lots of vegetables, grains, pulses and the like is the opposite of healthy and the reason for leaky gut, general inflammation and all the problems that come with it. Much more to say on this but I'll leave it at that. Be positive and keep on getting better. Wish you all the best. 👍

We didn’t buy a lot of junk food because we couldn’t afford it at the time, and my mom cooked baked chicken much more often than anything fried. We did eat plenty of fat though. Most of my family is healthy, we didn’t start getting fat and unhealthy until sugar and processed food consumption went up.

Shanna - you are right, the body needs NATURAL sugars, not processed sugars. The sugar in the spoon is poisonous. They process it to make it white (as all sugars are beet or cane sugars), put starches in them to keep it from getting sticky, some places even put bone meal to help keep it white. Suagrs from fruits is what our body needs, anything unprocessed. His father did him a favor & kept him healthy.

what i find incredible is that local fruits (like apples, nectarines and pears) - do have color, they definitely look good but that's about it: they are never 'ripe' - they are not sweet, they are hard like rocks, no juice to speak of. and we are taking about australia, with all the sun. cant remember when i last bought nectarines - and they are my favourite fruit.
the rest of it is fine.
