When he said "and I'm going to show you when I do not use acidic cleaners" out of all the wheel videos this is the one I needed the most considering I have no knowledge on wheel cleaners. I also wanted to know when not to use them because I don't want to destroy a pair of crazy expensive wheels one day. Thank you @wilson auto detailing!
What do you guys think about using non acid wheel.cleaners as iron fallout remover? First it's non acid, so it's at least a step closer to being safe. Secondly, since these would be good at removing iron deposits because of how it is able to clena brake dusts.
I am new to car detailing and learning from all TH-camrs, so I am thankful for your professional presentation and information. I am wondering if acid (or alkaline) chemical may affect other parts than wheel and tire - such as brake hose fittings, electronic wires, or bolts/nuts especially not having any coating or not good SS material. Also my car has fabric inside wheel well. All detailer video I saw did not ever mention about the effects of chemicals to these parts behind the wheel / tires. If strong chemical is applied over and over again, some of the parts may be degraded overtime, can cause damages. Even the chemical is washed out, water, splash may contain some chemicals and sticking to some parts surface and drying out. These 'side-effect" cannot be seen from the outside. This is my concern about usage of strong chemical cleaners. What do you think? Am I overthinking?? Thank you again!
Now Luke!.......I thought Extra Tough was the miracle "do it all" product for wheels, wheel wells, tires etc? It's supposedly safe and easy with little to no agitation right? Why not use that? I'm confused.
I normally just use soap if it doesnt need acid based or not so dirty because it's just simple and save money aswell I will just use what's in my bucket and a little apc
@@C_Grosso Unless you're using an acid based or iron remover type wheel cleaner than they're all rubbish at removing break dust. But as far as non acidic non iron removing wheel cleaners go it's excellent, with the use of a brush etc to adgitate, but that's normal.
@@Nintendude2013 Why? What were you expecting it to do? Magically dissolve brake dust? You still need to adgitate with brushes etc and as a wheel soap it's excellent.
Luke, how do you maintain your tools and equipment (if you do)? Also I just got that rigid and I am wondering how you keep it in good condition. (The orange hose I hear breakdowns). Thanks for a great video
Great video man. Although you made a costly mistake in your past, you have become an even greater detailer because you have learned from that mistake. And now you are being smart and making great decisions in product. Sadly in the event of using a product that is harsh on wheels. Business insurance does not cover it YIKES.
On wheel cleaners, I noticed the other day that Super Clean has a dedicated "Super Clean Wheel Cleaner". I looked it up and their website indicates it is an acidic wheel cleaner, as opposed to their alkaline Super Clean Degreaser. What I didn't like about this is that they use nearly identical packaging, which I feel might lead one to accidentally mix these products up. What might happen if you sprayed some Super Clean degreaser on the tires and ran out, then switched to the Super Clean wheel cleaner? Or maybe accidentally mixed them into a separate sprayer?
Do you know if Adams eco wheel cleaner is non acidic? I just bought some and I have premium aftermarket wheels so I really am trying to protect them and want to know before I mess them up. Hope you reply 👍
@@lizardfirefighter110 bottle says nothing and I moved on from this product lol. the best wheel cleaner that I found on the market for my wheels is auto fanatic, second is brake buster. Once you said, if I mess something up on a clients car I will not be able to afford to fix it, you should be out of business right now. If you cannot afford your mistakes and run somebody’s property.
If you're just going to physically clean the wheel then any ph neutral soap will be safe on the metal and come out with the same results. No need for a special cleaner.
@@obliviondio it's about speed. For a car owner doing it themselves anything is fine. But for a detailer that makes money based on time, an acid will get it all done quicker.

When are you rinsing the apc or degreaser off of passenger door of your car?
On a scale of 1-10, how dirty do those wheels get on those expensive cars?
Why not just use superclean for.. everything
Soooo, does this alkaline cleaner have any advantages over Super Clean?
Check out Waxedshine Safe Acid. It uses low ph Salts instead of HF. Works identical to wheel brightener.

What do you think about Lava Soap on wheels? I used it a few days ago and it takes off brake dust better than my clay bar.
can i use this on matte black alloy wheels
After rinsing the wheels off, how do you keep the brake rotors from getting that rusty haze?
