Love the switch panel, even you haven't got a clue what's going on. Mini's are a beast with R1 engines in them. This must weigh almost a bag of sugar, what a tool.
Brilliant!! I had a Kitten estate in 1977, and even in its standard form, it would give a really powerful car a good run for it's money in the London traffic light standing start up to about 20 to 30 mph!! It was an absolutely brilliant little car! I suggested to Reliant that they made an electric version, which would have gone well in the estate. Not interested!!. I think they would have done well with this as I am sure there were enough enthusiasts to have this as a run around, and the volumes would suit Reliant. They were happy days aggravating Porche owners! Ray Peto
@@Iowa599 watch my little "shorts" on here she's roundabout sliding. The gearbox and more surprisingly the rear diff have stood up much better than I could of imagined to it all
Awesome! One suggestion though, not sure how you set up the shifter but a counter crank would not only change the upshift/downshift direction, but you could also set the ratio to give a shorter throw.
Just currently on a push/pull cable from a Daewoo matiz linked up to the gear linkage. Could switch the shift direction with this as I have been told it's opposite to what you'll usually see in rally cars etc with a sequential, but yeah the throw on this has to be mechanical altered by longer arms etc etc
@@zachargrave4929 yeah, generally it's pull to upshift, push to downshift, but everyone has a preference. My VW DSG is like yours and I hate it, keep going the wrong way! 😬😂 There's a million ways to set it up in your case, but I think a solid mounted crank on the transmission with a solid rod to the shifter shaft, as it would be on the bike, and can then modify or fit the cable to suit, would be one possible solution... Seems like you have a bit of space in the engine bay to work with 👍🏼
@@kramer26 it's just the problem with it being 90degrees from the position it would be in the bike, if it were mounted straight I'd much rather a solid gear linkage shaft for a few reasons, but just works out a lot lot simpler to do with a cable when it's not in the same direction
@@zachargrave4929 yeah, I get that, I meant employing the following; shifter lever > cable > counter crank (mounted to engine with reversed direction and appropriate ratio) > solid rod > shifter shaft in 'box. If I could upload a diagram here I would, but I feel you have a handle on it lol. Even a solid rod from the shifter to a bell crank in the engine bay could work, and the beauty with a bell crank is you can also change the output direction based on which side of the pivot it is in relation to the input, so that might actually be a better solution!
Are you on any medication? 🤣 Brilliant video, clearly your barmy. What fun for pennies - dont need a Ferrari or lambo to have fun do we 💪💪💪. 140bhp, fibreglass hull, drum brakes what could possibly go wrong 👍👍👍🤣
I like your thinking 👍. Is there reduction gear/Box between engine output shaft and the kitten driveshaft? Cos ur putting alot of extra load on the bike clutch... Still awesome projects. Sounds good..
That's just mental yet beautiful! ... 😂 Dude it's genius, unhinged, scary and I would love to be there when it puts some expensive main stream euroboxes in their place off the lights . Are you using the standard diff ? Is there space for maybe Mazda MX5 LSD if you are . Got a standard MX5 MK2 one at work we swapped out for LSD one but dimensions and fittings the same if you want some measurements.
Adaptor straight off the output shaft of the engine mated straight to a drive shaft and back to the original rear diff. Drive train itself is mega simple and straightforward
WHAT. HOW is this MASTERPIECE buried by the algorithm? That's completely unhinged
This man is not afraid to die in shorts.
I bet he put clean pants on just in case? Do you think they stayed clean...

A fantastic view of the ‘f@@king steering wheel.

The wonderful world of Reliant
Get this thing featured on motor addicts, they love own builds and special treasures like this.
My mum and dad had a yellow one in the 70’s
Blimey, I'm reminded of Wheelie Yellow!
Lol I was too.
Only discovered wheelie yellow 2 weeks ago....
He's got a new van
Funnily enough this got recommended to me after I watched a wheelie yellow video lmao
You need a No Airbags fitted. We die like real men. Bumper Sticker .
Lovely build.
@@buxvan airbags are least of my worries, things not even got seatbelts. The clippy sides still sat on a shelf in my garage after rebuilding it all 😅
Yes Please. Looks ace with the R1 clocks on the dash.
Top, top work.
Have you considered putting a merlin engine into a shopping trolley? Might be worth a punt.
Even if your driving with enthusiasm at least the old bill will be looking for a bike 😂 top work 👊
You have large balls driving that thing, it's awesome 😀
Massive fun, glad it's not a Regal.
Brilliant! . It seems to handle quite well under 4k rpm, when it’s got all 4 wheels on the ground. 😊
