I Spent 4 Hours MOWING This HIDEOUS YARD & Took NO PAYMENT

- Today I performed a free yard makeover on a rental property that had a hideous yard. I received a call from the management office. Apparently, these former tenants had completely ignored the fact that lawn maintenance was required to be done both in the front & backyard. It was up to me to establish the lawn back to how it should be.
THE BREAKDOWN:
The front yard was not that bad. Seemed like the grass didn't grow much or the tenants kept it up, somewhat... The lawn edges seemed like they weren't ever cut, at least for a solid 3-4 years. When cutting the edges, I noticed sod had grown, on average throughout, 4 inches over onto the sidewalk. Talk about overgrown edges! The front yard also had grass overgrowing into the flower beds and all around the chain link fence.
The backyard was a whole different story. I initially walked the property (always do this first before mowing tall grass). I found extension cords, water hoses, beer cans, and even a ladder. The grass was on average a foot long, reaching anywhere of lengths of 2 feet. The weeds, on the other hand, were dry and tall, reaching anywhere from 2-4ft.
Overall, I enjoyed providing lawn service on this property. Took me about 4 hours to complete the whole service. If I were to charge the managment company, the total bill would be around $300. Yes, thats right: i took no payment for the service. The hardest part was having to quadruple cut the backyard since majority of the "healthy grass" was soaking wet, thick, and overgrown. Also, the edges were hard to cut through since they were wet (clogged the blade (muddy)). Sod is heavy folks... try lifting those sod snakes for an hour, you'll definitely get your workout in.

When we had rentals it was our responsibility to clean up the property to attract new renters. If we needed this kind of service, we paid to have it done. This guy is too nice!
Same here. The renters were not going to care for the lawn (because renters are ****), so I had to hire someone.
When my mother and I moved into a rental once we had such long grass but said if they cut the worst of it we would look after the rest...and we did. It looked amazing by the time we left 2 years later. We then found out the land was sold and all flattened to rebuild there. So disappointed. ☹☹
Who mulches for an hour in the backyard THEN goes back over it again to bag it? Fill does, that's who! Great job Fill! Stay strong, stay healthy :)

My wife was a true gardener, she loved flowers, lawn care and growing vegetables among her flowers. The love she had for nature could be heard as she worked outdoors. She talked to the plants at the same time she talked to the birds. It's sad that she can no longer work in the yard or garden. Looks great! That is quite a yard for a renter to keep up! No wonder the sidewalks were getting covered over. I like that your last pass you bag it. With long grass you can mulch all you want and there will still be clumps of grass everywhere. This way looks more professional. 👍🏻

Great job. Can’t believe people leave homes like that at the end of lease. I always made sure the yard was cleaned up as it was when we first took out the lease. If I couldn’t do the yard I employed someone to do it. I loved doing my yard but due to healthy issues with my hands I ended up having to get someone to do it for me. @@roastbeefsandwich6769 yes some restaurants serve Kangaroo meat. It’s also available in some supermarkets. I’ve never tried it. It’s also used for pet food. Roos are plentiful at times of the year and during droughts decimate any crops that can grow. They also move closer to towns during droughts. We have nature reserves through our city and they can be in them too not just out in the bush (or out in the country).

We have about a third of an acre of land so the mower works great. He mows and I weed eat and edge. We worked in the film/movie business and know how ling things take. But it's all exciting, the location, the wardrobe,
the filming, the editing and the retakes of course lol. The stars are much nicer and harder working than people realized!

I was in West Wing and a lot of the newer Star Trek movies, Resident Evil etc. My husband was on Suits a lot with Meagan Markle
on set and one month before she married Prince Harry, Tom was at the Suits wedding where she "married" her co-star.
Everyone had to sign a contract not to disclose any information or photos. That's seldom done.
The only other time was when Mariah Carey made a movie and was about to have an CD come out
and we were all frisked and all cellphones and cameras we taken away at the start of shooting each day. But the food was great lol!

Just watched your childhood home video now watching this one. Whenever I'm back in the states I always drive by my childhood home just for the memories. I no longer do it, it became a rental and the landlord has let the place go, weeds everwhere, no edging and little actual mowing.I always kept front and back yard mowed and edged and it looked so nice, like mom and dad kept it when we were kids. I moved back into the house when I was older and it always looked good. I just got back from a trip back to the states and this time I didn't even go by my old home, too sad.

Hi Phil I have a lawn service in philomath Oregon which is not too far from you and I thoroughly enjoy mowing as much as you do I don't do free properties but I do at at a small price which is 35 to 45 dollars per cut which is every 2 to 3 weeks so I do learn a lot which is what God has called me to do in my community blessings brother 🙏🙏

Since I discovered your channel, I subscribed as you were the first American lawn carer that's collected the debris and the cutters which I admire. I think it is great that you offer your services for free for individuals but for businesses, I hope that they compensate you somehow! I live in Mesa, AZ where many yards are rock and the lawns with grass are extremely small and can be mowed in minutes rather than hours. When I lived in Kent, WA, I had the joy of maintaining a lawn and flower beds but I am afraid I did not do as great a job as you do! Thanks for sharing and take care and stay safe!

My hubby had a trimmer, not an edger, but his edges were just as clean as yours. He could mow a lawn pretty much like you do. Had THE BEST YARD in the neighborhood. I took care of the rest. My neighbors thought I was single because they would see me out there with hedge trimmers, vacs & blowers, pulling weeds & planting things, emptying bags of soil, fertilizers. Loving every hardworking bit of it. Watching in New Mexico.
