Q: Does this video apply to my issues?
A: This video is for computers with no signs of life that appear 'dead'. It will also help if you see minimal signs of life such as lights only or some hard drive / fan sounds but they stop right a way. If you are able to see anything on the screen at any point or if the hard drive / fan sound remain on, your issue could be something else. Leave me a message with your exact symptoms and I can direct you to the correct video :)
Q: I have tried all the steps seen here without identifying the issue :(
A: If, after trying all these steps multiple times, you have not been able to find the issue, your most likely looking at a faulty component preventing the motherboard from working or a motherboard issue. I would start troubleshooting each component, starting with the charger and power jack. You can see those two videos here; • How To Test your Lapto... & • How to Fix Test Power ... . You can also try replacing other components like your Power Button to see if that is the route cause. If none of those are the issue, you would then be left with a motherboard replacement.
Q: The computer will only turn on when the charger is plugged in.
A: If your computer will only turn on when the charger is plugged in after all these steps, then I would next try to replace the battery as its most likely bad. Let me know if you would like assistance finding a compatible battery replacement :)

Hey,thanks. It worked for my acer notebook. It was so simple. I removed the battery,pressed power button for a minute,put the battery back,charger plugged it in ,it started! Wallah ! Last night when I woke up.reached for my water bottle,it toppled and water spiller onto my laptop.in the dark. I immediately wiped it clean ,kept it for drying under the fan. Comevearly morning,I started the laptop,it turned on as normal,I switched off. I went back to sleep. An hour later,it wasn't powering on . I looked up this video and followed the simple instruction,it started! So happy!

That first step totally worked. Hold the power button down for 1 minute. All I did was leave the laptop in the back of my car for a couple of hours.

F2 on start-up worked. went into BIOS and enabled boot drive. A local computer repair place was going to charge me $135 for diagnostics, and then wipe the drive of all my files. it literally took me 2 minutes to fix. THANK YOU!!! Acer Nitro.

It freezes on the start screen or the logo screen and one more thing before now i used to press enter when it starts so it doesn't freeze but now it is is not working

Depends what the updates were. Sometimes computers are just weird :(
Mine has an internal battery so I just held the power button down as was shown then plugged it back up and clicked on the power button and it works. Thank You!

Gave a like, although didn't fix the issue, I was at least able to turn the laptop on by disconnecting the battery and plugging in the charger. The laptop is over 3 years old, so just using it till I get a new one.

The first trick worked. All the sites I saw kept saying hold the power button for 15-20 seconds, but it wasn't working. I held it as long as you suggested and it worked. Thanks guy 👍

Watched numerous of your videos. Great stuff. I have been chasing down this problem with no sucess.
I have an Acer Aspire E5 575 72L3. It's about 4 years old. The laptop worked fine. But the keyboard needed replacement as there were numerous dead keys. This model of Acer's is a pain to replace the keyboard. But mission accomplished.
I figured if I am doing this I will install a new battery as well. And for good measure add an SSD. Now the battery does not seem to charge and the best I can do is get to the blank grey screen. Can't get far enough into the boot cycle to access the BIOS menu even. When I first plug in the charger, I get the red light. If I turn on the laptop it will give me the blue light as well but it will not go beyond the grey screen. It will eventually revert to having the red light flashing and stop charging. I have watched all your videos related to this problem. I have done the battery reset thing, removed the CMOS battery to get the CMOS to reset. Even tried using the old battery again, which still worked just wouldn't hold a charge for very long. Still nothing. Charger works fine. Voltage at m/b terminal where charger cable attaches reads almost 19 v but at battery attachment cable socket on the m/b best I can get is about 8.5 v with charger pluged in. Out side of the laptop both new and old battery seem to be at 0.2 or 0.3 v. I am at a loss. Any suggestions? BTW I am in Kenya at this time. In a small town without the greatest of resourses.
1. Was the new battery brand name or generic? In my experience, only about 65% of generic ones work. If generic, try a brand name one instead.
2. Have you tried the power drain procedure as well as the BIOS reset as seen here in this updated video? th-cam.com/video/kOBY4k2Mn_k/w-d-xo.html

Did the drain procedure many times. And the CMOS battery out&in. Actually went through whole boot sequence, once, without a battery. Then I shut it down and re-installed the battery.Not working again. Took out the battery. Now cannot get the comp to boot again, even after many battery drains and resets. Something here stinks because the computer worked fine before, now will not even boot.
@@SailingOTR Hard to say without seeing it at this point, but something could have been damaged or incorrectly installed during all those replacements. Sounds like a motherboard issue at this point otherwise :(
@@PC_Monkey Thanks for all your time and assistance. I am thinking it is time to look for a new comp. After all this one is 4+ years old. And usually after three years it is time to go. Plus this comp has lived its life aboard my boat, so long time in a salt water enviroment. At least I can salvage the hhd and 8gb of memory.

My acer nitro 5 (2019) won’t turn on unless it is plugged in, and when plugged in it won’t charge, it just very slowly runs out of power. It will also turn off every 45 or so seconds, but it’s not really turning off, the display just turns off and it goes back to the Lock Screen. I think it might have a lot to do with over heating? Do you know what I should try?

IMPORTANT!
Don't conclude just quickly that one of your RAM sticks has gone bad. Clean the contact areas of the rams and the slots very well and alternate their positions and be convinced before you go ahead to buy a new RAM.
I just did mine today and everything is working fine now. I didn't have to buy a new RAM.

If your computer wont turn on at all and this video did not identify the issue, then you would need to troubleshoot deeper into the computer. Start with the BIOS Reset as shown here; th-cam.com/video/VO5BhbiItCM/w-d-xo.html

@@sadadmuzakki1042 For the BIOS reset, you only have to remove the CMOS Battery for about an hour and then put it back in. Did you follow the steps in that video?
If the BIOS Reset didnt help then you would next test the Charger and the Power Jack as seen here;

That's just luck, Macs generally die a lot more than any other brands

I have numerous laptops that are fully functioning and are way over decade old
Macs are shit and have a much higher failure rate.

So I was in a boot loop, then had some artifacts and now the power button is blinking
Apparently my laptop tries to kill itself every time I miss a driver update, I’ve had every hardware error blue screen of death going and I’ve taken the laptop apart I don’t know how many times... the only solution is to keep trying to get it to boot so I can update

Hello please respond, I accidentally spill juice on my acer laptop and at first it’s that there is no booted device then it completely shut off I dried it off Blow dried it, I left it in fan and it still didn’t turn on so I left for a while in the fan came back to check on it and saw that the light at the side went from orange and blue to pink/light purple and orange.
After a liquid spill, you want to first make sure the computer is 100% dry. You would turn your computer off immediately by pressing and holding the power button until the computer turns off. Then you would disassemble the computer as much as your comfortable with, at least trying to remove the bottom case. Then you would turn it on its side and let dry for a couple days. Have you done this yet or are you sure the computer is dry?

Mu Acer is an old laptop, the little red light would flash and then stop. After following your instructions and now it is staying on. So I will leave it over night to see if the Blue light will come on. Next step will be 5,6,and 7. Both the Battery
and cord are a year old. Thank you for your help..
