‘Fat fetishists’ have always sat uncomfortably with me, as a fat person. As a fat child I would get (highly illegal) approaches from a very certain sort of man. The first time was immensely upsetting. I’m not trying to kink shame anyone, but I get to choose my own sexual preferences too. The idea that I’m sexually pleasing only because of one factor always made me extremely uncomfortable. I’m also someone who tends to go up and down in weight a lot (I was bulimic for many years). So I would have to be comfortable that what, if I lose weight, I’m no longer able to be sexually appealing or gratifying to the person? The thought that some women had to go through this when they thought they were just exploring their right to feel confident or sexy is so very sad to me. I hope that they all are doing well now.

I know that sexuality can be empowering, but I think fetishization is one of the least empowering forms of sexuality because it tends to revolve around objectification. This is so heartbreaking, terrifying and infuriating to me. I’m currently 186 pounds because of quarantine weight gain and I used to be even bigger. I lost all the weight before quarantine and during quarantine I gained it right back. I know the difference of how I’m treated when I’m big versus when I was small. ‘Fat fetishists’ have always sat uncomfortably with me, as a fat person. As a fat child I would get (highly illegal) approaches from a very certain sort of man. The first time was immensely upsetting. I’m not trying to kink shame anyone, but I get to choose my own sexual preferences too. I lost all the weight before quarantine and during quarantine I gained it right back. I know the difference of how I’m treated when I’m big versus when I was small.
