It’s taken a lot of time to get over the idea that I’m disgusting just because I’m hairy. And I’m still not entirely over it. Some days I feel like the most disgusting piece of shi because people like this can laugh and call hairy women “gross” without ever having to go through what we have to go through. These guys don’t have to shave their face or be made fun of. These guys don’t have to shave under their arms or be made fun of. These guys don’t have to shave their legs or their arms or their groins or anything really. This guy doesn’t even want to understand. He’ll never want to understand.
And that’s why I should legally be allowed to punch him in the face everytime he talks about things he doesn’t understand, the same way some jerks smack dogs’ noses when they do something bad. And if he loses a few teeth, well, maybe he should’ve sucked a dentist’s dic instead of the owner of a razor company’s.

It depends on the context because outside of blokes meeting at the pub (men meeting at the bar), the c-word is still considered fairly offensive. When I was in high school a student said the word while in character in drama class and got told off by the teacher, who was highly offended by it. I'm seeing a few comments defending Isaac's "preference" for female body hair, and it's obvious yous are missing the point (some, I assume, on purpose).
Women are taught that they HAVE to shave. Women are taught that their hair is disgusting, but that it's okay when men have it. Isaac is specifically coming for women who are reclaiming their own bodies, and spitting out, in their face, the same rhetoric they are fighting against - and that is, again, the opposite from brave OR funny when it's already what's accepted by society. It's obvious that he's pandering to edgy teens and immature men by saying stuff he *knows* they already agree with. Why pretend it's a joke? Yous clearly actually think that, you're just finding excuses to laugh at women on top of it.
Literally no one cares if you don't like armpit hair on men either. It's not the point. The point is, women aren't free to choose what they do with their hair. Stop changing the subject. That's just a covert way of silencing us.
And obviously using the word "disgusting" is fcking rude. And of course it comes off as dumb when he doesn't say the same about men's hair, when there's literally no difference about it.
Finally - shut up with the "his issue is when women say it's HOT to have armpit hair" argument, because it is equally bigoted. God forbid a woman loves herself and her body. God forbid a woman reclaims her sex appeal and the vocabulary that pertains to it.

I agree with your point. I don't think many people have a 'preference' for body hair if I'm being honest.
If I had a preference for blue eyes, I would be attracted to blue eyes. Hence if I had a preference for body hair, I would be specifically attracted to body hair, which I don't think is an element of one's that many people typically find attractive...
      However
      That being said
I think most people either tolerate it or have a preference (i.e. simply would prefer) no body hair and that's totally fine as long as they only express it with romantic or sexual partners because other than someone you are having relations with, what YOU are and aren't attracted to doesn't matter to others so you can decide that you don't find it attractive but nobody really cares about your opinion so you can keep it to yourself.
By "you" here I don't mean YOU I mean ppl in general.

About the pronoun thing, that reminded me of silver spoons upperclassmen/men have, that I delt with today in class.
A senior was laying down in front of a cabinet and I had to grab something. I asked, "Hey, I need to get in this cabinet." Normally.
He looked at me and was like "PLEASE can I get to the cabinet?" And I said "Can you move? I don't give two shits about saying please." Then he mocked me like "meh meh meh i DoNt GiVe TwO sHiTs" and moved.
Then when I had to go in that area again, he was muttering under his breath "go away nobody fucking likes you just leave, kys."
Dude. This is an engineering class and if you're mad that a sophmore female looking person isn't polite to you- i feel bad for any woman who has to deal with you.

The whole body hair thing is lowkey really sad because even some women I've talked to say that seeing body hair on other women is weird for them. So basically EVERYBODY not just men have been conditioned into thinking women need to be completely clean shaven 24/7 and it's so frustrating! Also most razor commercials for women show the women shaving literally nothing?? As if even seeing a women with body hair in an ad is soooo terrible even though they are trying to sell a shaving product!! As a women, I don't shave because I feel like it's unnecessary and I hate this misogynistic belief but I feel like other people will judge me even though I'm completely comfortable with it😭😭

I'm AFAB and choose not to shave because it's too much of a hassle and I don't mind the way it looks, but I've only seen women with body hair a couple times and I'm still trying to unlearn the immediate reaction of disgust. It's not disgusting, but since it's so engrained in our culture to be, I have to unlearn that immediate reaction and be kind to myself and others. In razor commercials for men, they still have hair, but for women, they have to shave an already shaven leg or arm?? It's rediculous

It didn't work, and I was ridiculed and humiliated for not being masculine (shitty) enough. Even though I'm a mechanic, carpenter, electrician, computer tech, etc., and do all the traditionally "masculine" societal roles, I am too feminine and soft because of I have empathy and treat other people with respect, including woman...and that's just not manly enough, I guess. I don't have male friends. As a man, who is privy to the things men say when it's "just the boys"...men are shit. The ones that aren't seem to be generally too meek to do anything to check their toxic male peers...so they are shit too. Nobody's gonna read this, but I would like to say the ideal of women being hairless is way older and more complicated (potentially more interesting?) than just Gillette propaganda. It's gone in and out of fashion throughout history, like a lot of things about women's physical appearances. Even after Gillette, the standard for what's "accepted" with women's body hair has fluctuated by the decade, just like how facial hair trends in and out of the spotlight in fashion. It's not like those ancient classical sculptures of naked women have bare arms, legs, and "other places" just because it was hard to render them. They had no trouble carving men's body hair. But men and women both have been removing their hair since prehistory, and ancient greeks and egyptians first codified hair in certain places as being barbaric. Gillette just happened to cash in on a cycle of fluctuating beauty standards older than feudalism at a time when women's clothing was starting to show things like their calves and underarms, for the first time in at least 80 years.
Not to say that either side is bad or unnatural. I think the push for hair acceptance is great because it means maybe eventually both options will be thought of as equally valid by most people. I'm just saying there's evidence to suggest that people have both been removing their hair and not removing their hair, for aesthetic and cultural reasons, basically for as long as we've had sharp and/or tweezy things, and that predates agriculture.

@@schoepite Well I'm not sure what the misunderstanding is? The places you've highlighted confuse me.
I guess I should clarify that, I meant they had no _aesthetic_ trouble portraying men with body hair. Obviously carving hair (or anything) at the level of detail they did was quite some trouble indeed. Interestingly enough, men also seemed to be idealized as having shaved armpits in the greco-roman world, but they did go through the effort of giving men pubes, which is significant. Because we know they were perfectly capable of adding hair in different places, but the fact that it's notably absent in different places on different bodies speaks to their preferences and the fashions they upheld.
I meant to list underarms, legs, and the pelvic area all as examples because they're three notable places women are "expected" to shave today, which are also hairless in ancient classical art, and styles of art emulating the greco-roman movements. And I did mean they were generally shaved around their hoo has, lmao. I guess I haven't posted on youtube much before so I didn't know where the line was, and I got weirdly vague for a second.

I really appreciate you making these videos. You articulate perspectives and clearly break down arguments in such a concise way as to really bridge some intellectual gaps (that exist in certain pop culture debates). We definitely need people like you making content because I think that most of us affected (in this particular video women, trauma survivors, trans folx, etc) have simply lost the patience. I would have heard Isaac’s arguments and just been triggered by the years of misogyny and abuse I’ve experienced from dudes like him and been like “fuck this dude”. And then disengaged. Which * I know* won’t actually won’t help or fix anything, but I’m simply not capable of engaging with that rhetoric anymore for my own mental health and well-being. I think that society really needs people like you to continue to engage and make these types of videos in order to help make the world (hopefully?) a better place.
That is, until all of us eventually regain enough mental fortitude to jump back into the fight. So thanks, dude. You give me hope.

But as his popularity skyrocketed in like 2017 and 2018 he got more bold and I started agreeing less and less with him because what was originally clear hyperbole started sounding like his real opinions and I sorta checked out after that.
